Watching calories is bad...watching sodium is worse!

Saturday, November 30, 2013

Today, I woke up around 8 this morning.  I got up, leaving Ron sleeping.  I went out into the living room, sat in my recliner to enjoy reading in the quiet of the morning, and promptly fell back asleep.  I woke back up about a quarter after nine, and Ron was in his recliner, with the TV on (very low volume) and I just couldn't believe it.  I just don't DO that - once I'm up, I'm up for the day.  Wow.  I did my Wii Fit - my weigh-in for the week - the two weeks, in this case.  Ugh, I'm thinking, Gatlinburg, then Thanksgiving, this is gonna be bad!  But - it wasn't!  I lost a little over two pounds.  Yee-haw!  I was very happy with that!  Especially after doing the 'Simple Test' the other day and gaining .7 of a pound, and then gaining some just Thanksgiving morning....no, no, no!  But, it all came out okay and I'll take it ...

I got on the pute and got my games caught up.  After noon, Ron went outside to get the candles put up down the driveway.  At one, I got my lunch - chicken salad, pretzels, and a banana.  Ron didn't eat any lunch, although he did have a banana.  He just got to working outside and never took the time to stop and come in and find food.  I'm not sure if that is good for him or not.  It can't hurt him, I suppose, but it can't be really all that good for him, either.  His little wrist monitor reading was scary this morning - way scary numbers - but then, just before he went outside, they were good (for him), so we are hoping it was just an anomoly with the machine this morning.  If it had been way scary numbers a second time, we would have had a way different day, I think.
After a while - probably around two, two thirty - I got off the computer and sat over in the recliner again, and - once again - fell asleep.  Ron woke me up coming in the house at four thirty.  I am flabbergasted.  What in blue blazes is wrong with me?  I just don't DO this!  I do have something going on with my foot, but I don't just be so tired and restless and flat enough to sleep once I get up - I just don't.  This is too weird.

I make the decision to start working on my Sports Tree on the table in the kitchen.  It's only a small tree - maybe 4' tall - that I put up the weekend after Thanksgiving, using all my Bengals ornaments and any and all football ornaments (thus, "Sports" and not "Bengals") and I can enjoy all of that.  I don't get my REAL tree until the second Sunday in December, and enjoy it until January 6th, but this is a good compromise.

Ron finally comes back in for good around six, and we discuss supper.  He suggests going up to Frisch's because he hasn't eaten all day and has plenty of 'room' for sodium (mgs, points, whatever...) in his supper.  We are using my myfitnesspal as our guide - on my diet, I am allowed 2500, so we divided that into 1000 for his 'breakfast/lunch' and 1000 for his 'supper' and that leaves him 500 for incidentals like coffee creamers, a glass of milk, and other things you can't really measure.  If you think it's hard counting calories, try ONLY counting sodium!  Man, oh, man!
We went up to Frisch's and perused the menu, and he got the turkey burger (UGH! again) without the remoulade sauce - we have learned that things like sauces, mayo, ketchup, A1, are dangerously high) with unsalted fries, and I got a pork tenderloin, fries (mine came unsalted also), and a cup of veggie soup.  I also got 2 little cups of tartar sauce, and used 1-1/2 of them.   When I put all my food in on MFP, I was just barely under my calorie count today.  Yay, I think.  At least I wasn't hundreds short, although I kinda like that...

Today is getting five stars for food.  I was under on calories - not by much, true, but under - and it was GOOD!  Zilch for exercise - I slept too much.

Oh, the sleeping?  I found out the cause.  Finally.
My sister, who was diagnosed anemic the other day, went to the hospital (Brown County) and got a saline IV to raise her blood pressure, and a blood transfusion to get iron in her blood, and she will be in there overnight.  Yes, for some reason, we are all very much in-tune with each other and 'feel' when one or the other of us have something going on.  She had assured us all over and over again on Thanksgiving that she was taking 400% iron supplements and that she was going to go to be seen on MONDAY if she didn't feel better by then.  Guess she decided to listen to her body instead of her brain!  Amazing what happens when you do that...

THANKSGIVING
Mine was great, thank you very much.  I ate too much of too many different foods.
My family was here, and we ate dinner, then got my outside Christmas mostly done.  What is left, Ron likes to do himself at his own pace.  They got all my inside stuff down out of the attic, so I can take my time decorating the inside as I wish.
Best of all, FOOTBALL was on, and I chose winners of all three games!

I woke up this morning about quarter after 8.  Corgan was up, but Ron was still asleep.  Then, as I was taking my 'pharmacy' as I do every morning, I discovered that my day would start out with me having to run down to Walgreen's to get a prescription refilled.  Ugh!  I hate when I miscalculate and have to make an emergency run like this.  Just makes me feel so stupid.
I did wait until Ron got up and we just hung around (watching Corgan play a game on the TV, mostly) for a while before I left.  I just used the drive-thru.  I did NOT want to get out of the car and/or go in the store at all, and so I didn't.  I was back home in about 45 minutes.  The guys were working outside by then, and I went in and started heating up leftovers for our lunch.  At one, I called them in to eat.  I think we did good.  I had the other drumstick, some sweet potatoes, and succotash.  That was it.
Ron, on the other hand, who has to be watching his sodium now, complained the whole time about starving to death, had some turkey (he did a good job of only getting a proper amount, seeing that we don't have a scale), half a spoonful of succotash.  We did both eat a bunch of the raw veggies that were left.  There are neither calories nor sodium in raw veggies.

At two, we got a text that it was time to head to the tree farm - Chelle is up from her nap.  It's a little earlier than we expected, so the guys were still into stuff outside.  I let them know to "close down shop" and we all got ready and took off.  We tromped and tromped through the tree farm, as usual, and they finally found the tree they wanted.  Josh and Corgan cut it down, and dragged it out on the tarp.  I, of course, took lots of pictures.  I did something - I don't know what, when, or how, but damn it hurts - to my left foot, and I had a boatload of fun limping through all the mud and furrows and stumps and holes and all that of the tree farm.  I tried not to complain too much, but I don't think I succeeded very well there.  I did enjoy the parts where we were on the well-worn paths or smooth-ish fields or even back out on the road.  But, through the tree parts, I wasn't real happy.  I'm pretty sure everyone knew it.
But they chose their tree, and we went in the building so they could pay, and I talked to someone from church, then looked around at all the cool stuff they have.  It really is a nice little place they have out there at Corsi's Tree Farm, and the trees are very reasonable and it's a great family outing!

We then took the tree down to their house, where I went in the house and stayed out of the way while Josh carried the tree in (after cutting and trimming the bottom), Ron piddled around as only he can do, Chelle fussed around getting our supper together, and Corgan just did what little boys do - get in everyone's way "helping."  I'm not sure what Jean was doing, but she was kinda helping everyone, too, and no one was griping at her, so I guess she was doing a good job at it all.  Like I said - I was sitting there, out of the way!
We decided on pork chops, made with ShakeNBake, for supper, as opposed to Subway sandwiches (Ron's sodium issues) and leftover side dishes.
I had one pork chop, a few sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, and two potato pancakes made with the leftover mashed potatoes.  It was all very yummy!
Then, Josh, Jean, and I played a game of Jeopardy on the Wii.  I WON!!  We all got the question wrong, but they bet all of their money on Final Jeopardy, and I didn't, so I beat their asses!  WhoooHooo!  I'll take it!
We left to come home at quarter til nine.

I claimed walking a mile when I put everything into myfitnesspal, because we certainly walked at least that much tromping the tree farm.  When I was done putting all the food in, I was still over 400 calories short for the day!  Wow!  I was a little shocked, let me tell you.  AND the only category I was over on was fat, and that was only by 4.  FOUR.  I will take it (and run!)

Today is getting five stars for everything!!

Getting ready for the feast day

Wednesday, November 27, 2013

I woke up this morning right around 10.  It sure was nice to 'sleep in' for a change!  Ron had gotten up this morning when Josh was going to drop Corgan off, and I just snoozed and snoozed.  I don't know why - I've been waking up around 8:30 pretty persistantly, but I did sleep in this morning, and it felt wonderful.

After getting up, we just hung around for a bit, then a little after noon, Ron called up to Rumpke to ask if the checks were in today, or not until Friday, but they were there today!  So, we decided to go to Georgetown and pick up his check, then go on up to Mt. Orab and get the big star for the front of our house at the Ole Mill Country Store - you know, the little store by the railroad tracks - and to go to lunch at Country Inn so I can have some Chicken N Dumplings!  Sounds like a plan to me!  Off we go...

Everything goes as we figured, and we had a very enjoyable time.
We get back home, and again, basically, just hang around all day, doing this and that, getting things ready for tomorrow.  I have done the dishes once again, and Ron and Corgan cut up the vegetables for my pretty turkey that will be demolished before dinner (it's made of vegetables and will be on the snack table, along with nuts and chips & a new pumpkin dip that I made tonight), and I also got all my good silverware and my Blue Willow china out of my china cabinet and washed up ready for tomorrow, too.  I think we've done everything that we can do in advance that we can.  Everything else will be done tomorrow (hahaha - later today now!)

I zapped the leftover Chicken N Dumplings for my supper.  I'm not sure what the guys had - I kept telling them to get SOMEthing, but have no idea what they ended up doing.  I was sitting in here, playing on the pute!

When I put all the food for the day on myfitnesspal, I was almost 700 short for the day!  I couldn't believe it!  The ONLY category I was over on was sodium.  That was kinda cool, but after my heart attack, I probably should start watching that a little better.  I will DEFINITELY have to look into lowering my calorie count after Thanksgiving!  And, yes, myfitnesspal hollered at me.  Ugh.

Today will get five stars for food, being so short on calories, and zilch for exercise.  I did do a lot of running around stuff here at home, but that doesn't count for much to anyone, or anything, but me.

I have declared tomorrow a free day for me, for both food and blog - it's gonna be a busy day!
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you - I hope your day is filled with family and friends and good food.  If nothing else, be thankful that you woke up this morning and are able to read this and know that someone loves you!

Because I do - I love you all.  I don't know how I know you, but I love each of you in some way.  Take that to heart - please.

Supposedly a busy day, getting ready for the onslaught

Tuesday, November 26, 2013

I got up this morning before the alarm went off at 9.  Ron was awake, but was either still in bed, or back in bed, I'm not sure which.  He does that all the time on the weekend.  He's so used to getting up early, he gets up for a bit, then comes back to bed. We got up and went uptown at 10 as we had planned and had breakfast at Frisch's.  There is a little backstory to going uptown at that time, but I'm not going to make myself mad (angry, totally pissed off) again over it.  He had their turkey burger (ugh) and fries and I had the breakfast bar, thinking that I would have a salad for supper, and would have plenty of time all day to work it off.  I also had 2 eggs, over medium, and toast.  From the bar, I had a bowl of biscuit & gravy - I always put it in a separate bowl - and truly only ate about half of it.  I also had 2 slices of bacon, 3 sausage links, a slice of goetta, about 10 potato hunks, and a hash brown patty.  I thought about, but did not, go over to the salad bar side and get any of the fruit or anything.  Probably not a good thing.  But it was quite an enjoyable breakfast on a Tuesday with my hubby.
When we were done, I walked over to IGA to pick up a bottle of Hidden Valley Ranch salad dressing for Thursday as he was paying the bill, so I got a bit of a walk in, too!

We went back home, and I piddled around on the pute until I had to run back uptown at 1:30 (another useless trip), then I got back home and stayed.  Then the snow finally started, and it was quite beautiful to watch coming down. I did get on that damn exercise bike, but my legs got to hurting so bad, I quit after only riding one mile on it.  Sorry excuse for exercise today, I know.
Then, I got a phone call that my TOPS meeting would be canceled, so that was that, and we decided to go ahead and have a real supper.  I wasn't expecting that!  I ate horrendously this morning!  We finally settled on fish fillets (Van de Kamp's Sandwich Fillets) and I tossed some tater tots on the cookie sheet for me - he didn't want any.  And that was supper.

When I put supper in myfitnesspal tonight, I was just over 400 calories short for the day.  Oh, my.  I am seriously in trouble.  I have NO way to account for the whole breakfast that I ate.  Maybe the 2 eggs & toast, but nothing else....yikes!  I am so seriously over on calories for today.  Ugh.  Way worse than I even thought.  Pitiful, pitiful day.

Food today is only two stars, and same for exercise.  Tomorrow is another day, right?
I didn't get much accomplished today AT ALL.  Not pleased with myself at all.  Nope.  Not at all.

Wednesday, November 20, 2013

I don't remember all the details of the day, but I got over to my friend's a half hour later than I had planned (what a surprise, right?) - and Ron got home in time to KISS ME GOODBYE!!  I was thrilled!  We got on the road around 6 (we had to wait for all the women who had to work that day and all that), and we stopped for supper at a Cracker Barrel in London, KY and I had chicken n dumplings.  A lot of us ordered that, and only my side of the table got 'em!  I guess the waiter helping out got our orders in a bit quicker than the dude on the other side.  Anyway - they ran out and the ones on the other side had to choose other food.  We all laughed and laughed about that.  We got down to our cabin in Pigeon Forge (I know, not really Gatlinburg) around 11:30, and got everything carried in, picked out our bedrooms and stayed up talking til about 2.  Whee!  WE'RE HERE!!
I did read an entire book on the trip down.  Yay, me!

Thursday, November 21, 2013

Today, we had breakfast there in the cabin.  We had bacon and sausage patties, biscuits & gravy, fried or scrambled eggs (your choice), pretty much every breakfast food except potatoes.  It was tasty and the company was exceptional!  After that, which was well past noon, we went out to the SkyBridge (for me) and, at the same facility, ziplining for some of the others (namely, my friend Teresa, who had said if she lost 100 pounds after her surgery, she would zipline this fall) and oh, did we have fun!  I took a zillion and a half pictures and it was a gorgeous fall day and oh, oh, oh.  Wonderful!  I am so glad it worked out that way, cause MAN were some of the zipline places down there exPENsive!
We went back to the cabin for supper and we enjoyed a dish that one of the girls (I know, women!  but I've known them since......and they are 'girls' to me, just like MY family's girls) had made, frozen, and brought with us.  It was a poppyseed chicken dish, and boy was it yummy!  We had a rice side dish, green beans and broccoli as two separate veggie dishes, and yum yum yum.
Then, we stayed up talking and drinking and playing games & cards, as well as watching Christmas movies or listening to Christmas music on the TV, just as we did the night before.  Around 1, people started drifting off to bed.  Being the geezer that I am, I was one of the first (actually, I think I was fourth...lol).  The youngest ones stayed up til 4.

Friday, November 22, 2013

When I got up, I hung around the cabin in my flannel nightgown for a while until it was decided what we were going to do today.  As you know, I don't eat breakfast, so around noon, I finally made me some salami fold-ups.  These are like salami roll-ups, but since it's casual, you don't bother to roll them up - you just fold them in half!  I made me a dozen - yes, I counted.  I also had a new snack.  Some flat-ass pretzels.  I had never seen them before - they are called 'Pretzel Crisps' and they look like pretzels that have been run over by a steamroller and squished flat.  Not at all hard as a rock, but very tasty and crunchy.  There are 11 in a serving.  After lunchtime, it was time for our outing - a shopping trip to Gatlinburg.  Yay!  I was so looking forward to this - of course, I thought I'd have a bit more spending money for Christmas shopping, but Norton decided to  do its automatic renewal on my credit card in early November, so I had little-to-no open credit - but still.  There is a little 'hidden' section of shops in Gatlinburg called 'The Village' and if you have not found these/this treasure, please do so the next time you are there!  The beauty of this little place (unbelievable), and the shops (kisses fingertips into the air), but just as we left the cabin, it started to rain.  RAIN.  No way, Jose!  But, yes, it was a quite dismal trip into Gatlinburg itself now.  We did walk through The Village, and a little way down one side of the Parkway, but it was miserable, and we knew that the Ski Lift would not be running, so we didn't even bother to walk that far.  Phooey!  I did buy a couple of things, and took a few more gazillion pictures (well, maybe only a hundred) and we didn't hang around town very long.  Back to the cabin for a fun evening.  Then, we decided to go out for a nice supper.  Okay, Friday night, tourist town, dinner hour(s).  Yeah. I wasn't a fan, but okay.  Why not?  We went to one place, asked for a table for 9, and they tell us '45 minutes and our biggest table only holds 8, so we'll have to separate your party.'  WHAT?  Jiminy Christmas, you've got to be kidding!  A couple of us walked down to another place just a couple of buildings down, then texted back 'they'll seat us immediately and all 2gether' so we left our vehicles in the first places parking lot and walked over to the second place!  Ha!  Served them right.  I really liked this second place - the atmosphere, the waiter was super cool and teased with us and all (and he carded each and every one of us, too - and the youngest of us is/was 33! The ones that ordered drinks, that is) and it was  great.  It had the rustic look and old-timey signs and oil cans and stuff like that, and was a very comfortable place.  This place was called J.T. Hannah's and I would definitely recommend it - for families, for couples, for big parties, for anyone!  I ordered loaded potato skins for my food, and got 1/3 of another girl's steak and shared my skins with her and one other.  It was a delicious meal!  We got back to the cabin and it was hot tub, card & game, movie & music time again until whenever-the-hell time in the morning.

Saturday, November 23, 2013

Today, the girls got up and got ready to go to the Christmas Store.  Now, this is just about my most favorite place in the whole wide world.  BUT - I decided not to go with them.  I have been there the last two years, in November, and I was there in June.  So, I made the decision to stay in the cabin and in my warm flannel nightgown and not get dressed quite yet.  Boy, was it a hard decision - it just about killed me.  But, in the end, I think it was a good decision for me.  After a little while, I made me another dozen salami fold-ups (casual setting, remember) and a serving of flat-ass pretzels for my lunch.
After they got back, and as the day progressed, we decided to go to some kind of a show that night.  In the end, only five of us went, no way near all eleven of us, but...oh, well.  We were going to see the Magic of Christmas in the WonderWorks building.  Sounded interesting, and it was something different.  We had $4.00 off coupons, too.  We got there, got in line (whee!), and finally got up to the window.  'Oh, the Christmas show doesn't start until the day after Thanksgiving.'  Well.  We had noticed that none of the signs around us were mentioning the Christmas show, just the regular one, and I sure am glad we asked!  We wanted a Christmas show!  We left, telling the poor girl in the window that their ad needed a bit better wording, or at least dates, because it's IN the coupon book NOW but NOT available.  We then decided to go to the Country Tonite Show, because they knew it was the Christmas show, because they'd been there before, and that's what we did.  I am not a country music fan, but I can handle it for a little while, and country singers usually sing Christmas songs very well.  And I'm definitely okay with that!  It was/is also a much longer show than the magic show and we didn't get back to the cabin until close to midnight.  It was a very, very enjoyable evening.  Since we had eaten any supper, though, I was starving, and as soon as we got back, I made myself a huge lunchmeat sandwich.  Four slices of ham and a slice of cheese on one bread, four slices of turkey and a slice of cheese on the other, and -wham- there's my sandwich.  A serving of flat-ass pretzels to go with it, and I was a happy camper once again.  I think I finally went to bed around two.  I think I finally finished my second book along in this time (although it may have been last night...).

Sunday, November 24, 2013

We got up this morning, got the vehicles packed, and hit the road by 9:30.  Man!  We had talked about stopping and ziplining again on the way out of town, but it didn't happen.  We DID stop at the Russell Stover store, and I managed to spend more money there than I had spent the whole trip so far.  That's kinda funny.  The only thing I bought myself was a dark chocolate covered strawberry and it was super yummy!  Back on the road, and now the vacation is over.  Awwww.  On the way home, near Lexington, we drove through an Arby's for our lunch.  I got a large order of potato cakes and two regular Roast Beef sandwiches.  I take the bun off one and have a huge double-meat sandwich and throw the bun out for the birdies.  They do get a bit hungry this time of year, ya know.  We get back to Teresa's just after 3, and now the trip is over.  Man.  So glad to come home, but so sad it's over!  I'm sure you all know the feeling.  I had texted Ron, and he is pulling in just behind us (great timing!) and we get all the luggage and stuff situated and take off for home - after a stop for KFC, because we are that far down 125, and Ron does love his chicken.
As soon as I got home, I turned UP the thermostat - Ron had it only 65 degrees in the house, and boy, could I tell it when I walked in!  He sits in his chair, under 2 blankets, and won't turn up the heat.  MEN!

I was happy to be home!  I turned my football on...yes, even though my Bengals were on bye, it's still a football Sunday.

Monday, November 25, 2013

Ron's on vacation this week!!  Yay!!  No calls on our time - unless we put them there - and we can do what we want, when we want.
I weighed myself when I got up this morning before I got dressed.  According to the Simple Test on my Wii, I gained .7 of a pound.  I think I can handle that!
Today, we have doctor appointments.  Ron has his DOT physical, and I have my three-month sugar check.  My HbA1c number was:   (drumroll, please)  6.3!!!!!!!   Yay, me!!
Ron 'flunked' his physical.  His blood pressure was too high.  It was 157/93.  Doc changed his med and he'll go back in two weeks and try again.  We had a good long talk about sodium in foods and all that.  Sigh.

Then, we went to meet our friends at Olive Garden for lunch, as we had planned.  Our dr appts were at ten, so we planned to meet at noon.  We got out of the dr at eleven!  I couldn't believe it!  It had to be because Ron was with me - I don't think I have ever gotten out of there in less than an hour and a half in my life!  I thought that we would just squeak by getting back over to Beechmont by noon, but, nooooo, we end up with an hour to kill.  Sheesh!  We managed to do just that, and got to OG, and lunch lasted til 3.  It was a lot of fun.  Ron had the Tour of Italy, and ended up not liking the Chicken Parmesan part of it, and I had the Shrimp Mezzaluna, as usual.  I had three and half (I tore the ends off) breadsticks, too.  They are pretty tasty, and I can't resist when I first get there - you know, when they are warm.  We got our salad 'dry' and ranch dressing on the side, and I brought home all the salad that was left, and since we stopped at WalMart on our way home and bought all the veggies for Thanksgiving, I had a very nice salad for my supper.

When I put my food for today into myfitnesspal, I was over 300 calories short.  Wow!  I was very pleasantly surprised with that!  And I'll take it!
Thus, today is getting five stars for food and three stars for exercise (I did get a WalMart walk in!) - back in the swing of everything full-force tomorrow!!

Getting Ready to Leave Day...and then TOPS

Tuesday, November 19, 2013

Today was bustle, bustle, bustle.  I woke up around 9:30, and laid in bed reading, finally getting up just past 10.  I jumped right into the fun of my last full day here at home, getting everything ready for me to leave tomorrow. The last load of laundry, all the dishes done (today, anyway), the last of my clothes packed, a last run uptown - to the post office and the bank (I rolled up the quarters and the dimes!  WhooHoo, 25 more bucks in my pocket!), do this, that and the other, on and on and on all day long.  I did stop long enough to eat my lunch - my chicken salad, the last of the bag of walnuts, and a banana - around 1:30.  I did get on the pute, also, and get my games all caught up.  I'm not sure when, over the next few days, I'll be able to do that again.  One of the others with me in Gatlinburg will have a laptop, but, we'll see.  I just kept going and going today, getting the house and me ready.   But, finally, at 4, I felt that I was done enough that I could stop and take a shower and just relax until time to go to my TOPS meeting.  I have most everything crossed off of my list of things to do!  Yay!

At my TOPS meeting, I was not the biggest loser of the week, even though I lost FOUR pounds.  The loser of the week lost nine pounds this past week, but I am happy with the four pound loss, let me tell you.  FOUR!!   I guess that damn exercise bike has its uses, huh?
I got home from the meeting, and Ron had made Manwich for supper, so I had some Manwich on one slice of bread with some pretzels for my supper.  Then, I was still hungry, so I had a nut bar, and then a piece of the apple pie I had made for Ron with the end of the apples his cousin had given us.  It was darn good!

When I put all this food into myfitnesspal, I was still 400+ calories short for the day, and I hadn't even done any exercise worth mentioning!  Just walking and walking all over the house, but I didn't claim that as exercise on myfitnesspal, although I certainly could have, I didn't.  I couldn't believe that I was that much short, I just couldn't.  I racked my brain, but that was really all I ate.  My lunch and my supper.  The two snack-ish desserts.  That was it.  Hmmmmm.   Weird.   Maybe I need to lower my calorie count somehow.  I'll have to check that out when I get back.

Thus, today is getting five stars for food, and zero for exercise.

I don't know if I'll get to write my blogs the next few days or not.  If not, I'll catch up when I get back.  It will be a very fun few days for me, and I'll be thinking of you all.  Take care.

Getting things ready...

I woke up this morning at 8:30 or thereabouts.  I read for a little bit, getting up right around 9.
Putting myself right to work, I finally got all the Oncology/Hemotology bills I've been receiving (well, DADDY has been receiving) these three years since Daddy has passed on and wrote them a nice bitch letter asking if they could please let their billing office know that the man is deceased and will NOT be paying this bill.  I have called, I have returned a few of these statements over the years, but they are still coming.  What else can I do?  After writing this letter, I bundled up all the bills/statements, put them all in a manila envelope with the nicely worded bitch letter and addressed it directly to the O/H office, as opposed to the billing office (this is why I haven't done this before - I didn't have this address.  I found a piece of paper with the address on it last night and put it to good use.) and we shall see if this does any good.  I sent a copy of the bitch letter to my sisters and I will let you all know if it does any kind of good.

Then, I started on being Happy Homemaker, getting everything ready - as ready as I can make my house - for me to be gone, starting on Wednesday.  I know Ron will miss me, and I will miss him something fierce, but I do treasure this woman time, too, and really look forward to going.  Dishes are done - all but what was used tonight - and laundry is all hung in the closets.  I will do dishes again Wednesday morning, just to not leave a single dirty dish.  Do you think I'll come home to the same?  We'll see...I'm not betting the farm.

In the midst of all this bustling about, I did a few minutes on the damn exercise bike.  I actually did 2 miles, which worked out to just over 15 minutes and 53 or 56 (something like that) calories burned.  I turned the tension UP a little, too.  Hmmmmm.  Well, may have to change that again next week.  Until it starts really getting too hard to petal.  We shall see.  I may just have to start staying on it a bit longer.  Ugh.  Oh, well, that's why it is sitting in the living room, right?  Especially during the cold winter months...
I also got my lunch after the bit of exercise, too.  I had my chicken salad, a serving of pretzels, and a banana.  I was also on the pute and got my games all caught up.

During the afternoon, my daughter-in-law texted and wanted to know if I wanted to go to Chilo Park tonight, which sounded like a great idea to me.  It was sunshiny and was warm enough, and we should be able to squeeze this in before dark.  Well, we were wrong.  We got down there, and got our suppers set up in the nippy wind off the river.  By the time we were done eating - about fifteen minutes later, it was already too dark to walk!  So, while it was a good plan, we forgot the close-to-the-river part, and the walk part fizzled out, but it was a nice quick supper with the family, even if it was chilly!  Ron texted that he was on his way home while we were down there - before 6!  How cool is that!  When I got home, he was on the damn exercise bike, too!  I had left him some of the mackerel that I had made up to make for his supper, and he had put them on and was doing that while they cooked.  Good idea!

I had my mackerel patties, turnip quarters and radish halves, and some bread & butter pickle slices for my supper down by the river.  I was putting stuff away as he had his supper, and we settled in for TV and pute for the evening.
After a bit, I realized that I was still hungry, so I finished off the bag of Ruffles (good thing I let my family eat a bunch of 'em, right?  LOL) and 2 slices of the Colby Jack cheese as my snack.  I am so ready for my football now!

When I put all my food and exercise into myfitnesspal, I am over 300 calories SHORT for the day!  I am surprised - I thought it would be really close, but no, I am that short.  I go over it again, and make sure I listed everything, and I had.  Well, except the veggies, but they have no, or even minus, calories, so I don't ever list those when I just eat a few (separately).  IF I have ranch as dunk, I list it, but I don't have it very often, so...
I was under in all of the categories except fat and sodium.  I was kinda proud of that.  Seeing only two red numbers amidst the green numbers is a good feeling!
At least it's not enough for myfitnesspal to holler at me!  I don't like it when that happens!

Today gets five stars for everything!!

Church, food, and football -- and freaky weather!

Sunday, November 17, 2013

Today was a pretty normal Sunday.  Church, food, and football.  The only difference being that we didn't go out to eat after church - we just went to IGA and got us some lunchmeat (cooked ham and turkey breast) and mini Colby Jack cheese, chips, and our turkey for Thanksgiving (it was 79 cents a pound with a $20 purchase, so...).  We also got bread, and ice and didn't have any trouble whatsoever hitting the $20 required, let me tell you.  Since we would have spent that much going out somewhere - including the turkey - it was money well spent!  I'm sure it's not the best lunch in the world, but on this rainy yucky day, it was what hit the spot.

I had a ham sandwich (4 slices ham, 2 slices cheese) and 2 servings of chips.  Ruffles, of course, and I picked out good whole chips, too.  LOL  Why waste my choice?

It rained pretty much all afternoon, and then the bad weather started.  Believe it or not, just as the weathermen predicted!  Severe Thunderstorm watches and warnings, then TORNADO watches and warnings.  IN NOVEMBER.  My, my.  As it darker, they (it?) got worse, and eventually the rain started pouring here and my sattelite went out for a few minutes.  The lights did flicker, but I never really lost power, thank God.  I started to get on the pute once, but chickened out and turned it back off.  Kept changing stations on TV, trying to watch my football and keep Ron happy with the updates on the weather.  Most of what they were talking about was not around us, but near some others of family, or no way near any of us.  What was near family, I was keeping in touch by cell, so I didn't need the TV, and the other, I didn't need to hear about.  I wanted my football!

I made me potato soup for supper, as well as a turkey sandwich (4 slices of meat, 2 cheese) and 2 servings of chips.  After I ate my supper, I decided it was safe enough, or calm enough, to try getting on the pute again, so here I am.  I did decide not to put all this crappy food on myfitnesspal for the day - I didn't want to make my pute explode LOL or - as they used to say - have a conniption fit.

Today isn't getting any stars.  Food was plentiful, and yummy, but it wasn't very good-for-me food.  Pretty much all carbs.  And, of course, no exercise.  It's Sunday.

An unbusy busy day....weird, huh

Saturday, November 16, 2013

Today started early.  The alarm went off at 8:45, and I got up by 9.  It was not easy, not on a Saturday, let me tell you.
I tried to play a Wii game with Corgan, but he "has played this game four times and it's easy" and this is the first time I've played it.  Does he help me, give me hints, tell me things?  Nope.  He says something vague instruction-wise, and when I try to do as he just said, I mess up (of course) and he sneers and says "No, Granny - you HAVE to do ________(whatever - something totally different than what he just told me) in a just-how-stupid-are-you? tone of voice.  After the third time, I admit, I lost my temper, threw the remote at him and told him - quite loudly - to turn MY television off.  Right this fucking minute.  And go get dressed to leave.  And I stormed off into the bedroom to get dressed.  I calmed down while I was in there, and came back out to the living room.  There is Corgan, sitting on the floor in front of the front door, putting on his shoes, in a Smashing Pumpkins T-Shirt, so I blow my top again.  I point at him.  "NO!  NO, no, no!!  Where's the good shirt you brought to wear this morning?"  I scream at him.  "I don't know!"  he screams back (never mind that he is the one who carried it into the house) at me, which made me scream back, "Well, where did you lay it down at?" and this went on for a few minutes, and I finally found it LAYING ON THE FLOOR RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM.  He stomped off down the hall to his bedroom to change his shirt in his room.  I said something to Ron about letting him speak to me like that, and he said that he HAD said something to him, didn't I hear him, and I told him, no, that I had gone back to get dressed and that I had missed him talking to Corgan.  I apologized to him, because I did miss him saying something, but accused him of not saying anything.  I was wrong on that count.

Anyway, that was all finally over and we got gone - up to the reception at church.  Man!  And the day is just starting.   Putting happy faces on in public is not always easy.  But, I guess since I didn't have to stick right beside them the whole time - since I am on the Bereavement Committee, I had to 'help' with the drinks and desserts and all that - it all worked out okay.  By the time I got my plate of food and sat down to eat, Corgan was even speaking to me, so I guess it was all over in his mind.  One thing about our family, our little to-dos tend to blow up, be loud, and then be over, and that's a good thing.
The family putting this Memorial Mass and reception on today is from the Phillipines, and they had traditional food at the reception.  I did not recognize some of the foods (and stayed away from those) and only got just a bit of the rice and the pork kebob and things like that.  I did get quite a few of the veggies - can't go wrong there, right? - and I had a little bit of this, and a little of that.  It was all pretty tasty, I must say.

When we left there - Ron and Corgan left before I did, I stayed to help clean up - the guys came home, and I went down to Walgreen's to pick up our prescriptions so neither of us would run out before I get back from Gatlinburg.  While I wasn't planning an extra trip to Amelia, this one was unavoidable, because I'm sure not going to be able to squeeze it in on Monday or Tuesday, that's for sure!
When I got home, I got on the pute and managed to get my games all caught up before time to make supper before the rest of my family is coming up for supper and to pick Corgan up.
As I am making supper, I realized that I had forgotten to do my weigh-in this morning.  Phooey!  I text the chairwoman of the biggest loser contest and let her know (I can do it in the morning! Yay!) and go on making supper.  I am making the tater tot casserole that they all like so much.
I made biscuits to go with the casserole, and there was some of the fruit (a fruit salad, if you will) that I had taken to the reception as my donation as a dessert.  That was supper.

After I got the table cleared off, we all (except Ron) played the board game "What's Yours Like?" - even Corgan - and Corgan did pretty good playing an "adult" game, even if he did get restless every now and then and we'd have to remind him to play with us, he needed to sit still and play. with. us.  After that, Chelle didn't want to play any more (she worked this morning), so Josh, Jean, and I played Jeopardy on the Wii, and Jean won this time!  Go, Butterbean!

When I put all my food into myfitnesspal (the reception food went in as Chinese Buffet food - that was already in my food list.  LOL), believe it or not, I was 7 calories short for the day!  Hot damn, I'll take it!  I did not claim any exercise, even though I walked and stood and walked and walked at the reception.  Still, just food - 7 calories short.  HA!

Food is getting five stars today, and exercise three.

A long, busy run-around day

Friday, November 15, 2013

Today started early - for me, anyway.  The alarm went off at 9, and I was not ready.  But, I knew there was a lot that I needed to get done today, so I dragged my nappy ass out of bed and into the shower and got started.  I was just getting out, and my cell phone was ringing - I run for it, and it's Ron checking to see if I'm up yet, cause I said last night that I wanted to get up and get going at 9 (he WOULD remember that, wouldn't he?) and it's after 9, so he's calling, and blah blah blah.  I told him, yeah, I'm up and I'm getting out of the shower and now I'm freezing so I'm getting off the phone and going back in the warm bathroom!

I got dressed and made my tea, left home at quarter til ten, and promptly had to turn around (three miles away) because I had forgotten the bag of stuff I got together for Ruth - which, sure as shit, I forgot to put her biscuits into AGAIN - although, I must say I'm glad I wasn't all the way uptown.  I would have been super pissed at myself!  It was bad enough as it was.  Anyway, I got uptown - only ten minutes late - and we (the Bereavement Committee at church) did what we needed to do getting the Parish Center ready for the reception tomorrow.

I left just after noon, just as was planned, to do my errands around Bethel before heading up and having lunch with, and doing things for, Ruth.  Boy, did they take longer than I anticipate!  I am so glad that I brought a Cinnamon Blossom from home, too, because after all the lugging of tables, moving of chairs, and walking, walking, walking in the Center, and then all the errands (more walking to and from) around town, I was feeling a mite peckish.  I demolished that thing before I got to Hamersville!  But, it's almost 1:30 now.  Jiminy Christmas!  This day is now way out of control.  I finally get to Georgetown, do one more errand - this place will be closed by the time I get back here - and finally go and steal Ron's truck.  Actually, I trade him vehicles.  I left him my car, and took his truck.  Off to Winchester I went.

I get to Ruth's and off we go to lunch (finally!  I am starving!)  and I decided to be 'bad' and splurge on a bacon cheeseburger.  We shared an order of chili cheese fries (appetizer-sized) for our fries, instead of us each getting them - it was definitely cheaper that way.  Her granddaughter got a kids meal of a hot dog (no bun), fries - and ICE CREAM.  Ice cream!  You should have seen her eyes light up!  She ate all the food on her plate, so she got her ice cream, then she chose chocolate, and she scarfed it up, too!  She did very good.
We were at Cruiser's Diner, at 247 & 32 in Seaman, which is only maybe 5 miles from Ruth's, and after we were done, we went over across 32 to the Family Dollar so Ruth could pick up a few things.  When we got back to Ruth's, we loaded the truck up with the stuff I went up there to get in the first place (why I needed the truck) and I headed for home - it's only after 4 by now.  Just barely, but after 4.  So much for my plan to be home by dark, I am thinking.  Sigh.  I still have my Georgetown running to do.

I text my sister Jean, so she can meet me with my grandson, then head on back to Georgetown.  Well, I MISS - totally MISS - the turnoff of the shortcut between Winchester and Georgetown, so 30 minutes and 20-25 extra miles later, I finally get to Georgetown.  I am calling myself all kinds of freaking names - and not very many of them are nice, let me tell you!

Pulling into Save-A-Lot, they are already there - surprise - and Corgan and I go in to do the little bit of shopping I was doing there.  I really just wanted to check turkey prices, but I have to make a dish to take to the reception tomorrow, so it all worked out.  Don't go there for your turkey, by the way, not this week anyway.  Yipes, were they expensive.  Cheapest was $1.19/lb.  WalMart is only $.88/lb.  I'll take 88 cents per pound over a dollar plus any day of the week!  Maybe they'll go down next week - the big shopping week - but definitely not this week.

The shopping done, Corgan and I loaded up the truck and headed for home.  I didn't do any of the other running I had been planning on doing in Georgetown while I was there.  I was going to start at the IGA and go down that strip, putting in applications all the way to Shopko (the store that used to be Pamida).  Then I was going to stop at Long John Silver's and do the same.  But....I simply ran out of time.  I guess now all that is going to be my plan for some other day.  Some day when I get back from Gatlinburg.  There must be a reason it didn't work out today, right?

After Ron got home, he told us he almost got a deer in MY car!  We hadn't even seen a single one!  He was only about fifteen minutes behind us, too.  Man.  I knew I should have waited for him at Save-A-Lot and traded back vehicles.  We each know our own vehicles so much better.  Luckily, though, he did NOT hit it, but he did throw everything onto the floors hitting the brakes.
We then made supper.  I made us fish fillets and Corgan made himself some Ramen noodles - the chili kind.  Then he decided that he wanted a fish fillet, also, because the chili had made his mouth too hot, so he had to eat something else to cool it off (his reasoning, not mine).  So, I ended up with 2 fish, Ron 3, and Corgan 1.  After catching my stuff up on the pute, I also had a nut bar.  Don't know why I ended up eating so much today.  I didn't need the nut bar, but I saw the box in the kitchen, and it was 'why not?'

When I put all my food in myfitnesspal today, I was over 500 calories OVER, so I guess I made up for yesterday - not that they consider that - but I don't feel much different than I did yesterday.  I probably didn't put things in correctly, either, because I didn't put in half an appetizer of chili cheese fries, I had a container of Wendy's chili and I marked half of that, and I marked 1 slice of Colby Jack cheese for the cheese.  I figured it was all close enough, and it is - for me.  I really hate trying to find 'new' food (like the chili cheese fries) that I'll probably only have this one time, so I improvise.  I figure it all will balance out.  I also claimed walking for a mile and a half for all the work I did in the Center this morning - lugging tables & chairs, walking, walking, walking to set things up and all that, and then all the errands.  I should get some kind of credit for all that, don't you think?  I sure do!

Today is only getting four stars for food - there was a lot of carbs.  It was tasty, but way too many carbs.  Exercise is getting five stars, too.  My hips tell me that I walked too much, and my feet don't like me very much - every time I get up, they scream 'No!  No!'  at me.  My ankles are swollen, too.  I think it might be bedtime.  After all, it IS tomorrow already, and the alarm will go off at 8:30.  Ugh.

Happy Homemaker Day

Thursday, November 14, 2013

Today, I didn't do much of anything but housework and play on the pute.  Not that the two don't mix, because, for me, they do.  Very well.

I started the day by sleeping in - I didn't get up until quarter after 11.  I finished the book I've been reading, then got up and started my day.  Started the first load of laundry, and turned on the pute.  As the day progressed, I got two loads of laundry done.  The first one only took two go-rounds to dry, but the second one took three.  Of course, they are still sitting in baskets.  I might get them hung up and put away before I leave next week (don't worry - of course I will!).  I wouldn't leave Ron with a total mess.  Then, I got a sinkful of dishwater run and started in on the dishes.  Ugh.  I hate housework.  I get no pleasure out of it whatsoever.  NONE.

In the midst of all this, I did work in my chicken salad with walnuts and a turnip for my lunch.

Tomorrow will be a day of running.  I get to run to Georgetown and Winchester.  Whee!  Good thing I like driving - and I get to go steal Ron's truck, too!

When Ron got home - after dark - I told him what tomorrow's plans were.  He gripes, "Why do you always wait until the last minute to tell me stuff?"  I told him because if I told him any earlier, he would just forget and tell me that I didn't tell him at all, so I wait and tell him at the last minute, so it would be easier for him to remember.  He just looks at me with a dumbfounded look and says, "Oh."   I wanted to laugh SOOOO much!  But I didn't.  As we were sitting at the table doing all this talking, I was munching on some mallocremes, too, and I haven't done that in quite a while.  Finally, after about the third complete telling of what's happening tomorrow, he supposedly has the plan in his mind.  We'll see.

He goes to take his shower, and I start making our suppers.  I make me Potato Soup with a can of tuna added into it, and nuke him Broccoli Soup.  He will make himself Ham Salad (sandwich spread) sandwiches when he gets out of the shower - he doesn't like how I make sandwiches (and I don't like how he does!), so we each make our own most of the time.  Every once in a while, I can make his, but...

I rode the damn exercise bike while my soup cooked (I nuked his) and quit when I had ridden for two miles.  After supper, I ate a banana.

When I put all my food into myfitnesspal, I was over 500 calories short for the day, and (sure as shit) they hollered at me.  Again.  Man, I thought eating less calories was a good thing!  I was kinda proud - I was under on ALL categories today except sodium and sugar, and those 'overs' were minimal.  One former than 100, the latter less than 25.  But, what can I say?  Some days are better than others!

Today is getting five stars for everything!  Food was great, even if myfitnesspal hollered at me, and exercise was good.  I actually worked some into my day, and walked back & forth, up & down the hall and in & out of the laundry room and the kitchen and all that a zillion times today.  That's got to count for something!

A cold, cold day

Wednesday, November 13, 2013

Today was cold.  Very, very COLD.  Last night got down to 19 degrees.  19!  Brrrrr.  When Ron got up to go to work, he threw his quilt over top of me (and my quilt) and also turned the heat up.  He said that I was practically shivering, so he thought he should.  Again, I think I'll keep that man!  I sure do love him a lot!

Anyway, when I woke up this morning, around 8:30, those damn birds were flapping and fluttering all around the back of the house again.  I sure don't know what is drawing them there, but they were driving me nuts!  I got up and turned the dryer on and it drove them away soon enough.  But, even though I had the alarm set for 9, I couldn't get back to sleep, so I laid there and read.  When the alarm went off, I got up, got dressed, and went off to start my day.  I was going to the funeral of the mother of a friend of mine from church.  It was a beautiful service at St. Bernadette's in Amelia.  The family chose the most touching readings and hymns and everyone did a wonderful job.

On the way home, I stopped at WalMart (what a surprise, right?) to pick up a few things.  Just a few.  Really.  But that means I did get in my WalMart walk and that's a good thing.  After I was done there, I went to Bob Evans and got me some lunch.  I thought about getting something different, but finally fell back on the good ol' Sunshine Skillet with banana nut bread.  What can I say?

As I was sitting there eating, Lois called me to ask about us walking tomorrow morning.  She can't walk when it's so cold, because she has breathing problems, and that's okay with me.  Now that I can ride that damn exercise bike, I feel that I do have that option.  I LIKE walking the path with her, but I sure don't want her to do anything that may hurt her in the long run and that wind is the kind that cuts right through you, that's for sure.  We will walk again when we can.
When I got home, she stopped by to pick up the basket she had won last weekend at the Craft Show that I had picked up for her.  I was going to give it to her tomorrow morning, but since that was out now, we made these other plans.  We stood here and talked - probably for the half hour we would have walked.  LOL

Ron actually got home before dark for a change.  When he got here, he covered his windsheild with his tarp and put on his new deer screamers (you know - the little things that scream at the deer from the grille of the vehicle?) that WalMart FINALLY had in stock.  Then he came in, and we had a very pleasant evening at home together.  I heated up the leftover spaghetti for my supper, with 2 butter breads, and he had one of his frozen dinners.

When I put all my food into myfitnesspal, I was 500+ calories short, so while I was watching Criminal Minds, I decided to have a snack.  Why not?  I decided on a bowl of cereal.  I quite enjoyed my bowl (a real serving!) of Cap'n Crunch Crunchberries!

I am giving today five stars for everything!  It was a pretty good day for everything - except it was cold!

GOOD NEWS Tuesday!!!

Tuesday, November 12, 2013

Today is a "funny" day - ready?  11-12-13!  Too funny!  Also, at 2pm, if you talk 'military' it was 11-12-13-14 hundred....and that's funny, too.   Oh, my.

I woke up this morning around 9, which was good, because I had my alarm set for 10, because I had planned on getting up, showering, getting dressed and all, and leaving the house at 11.  Well, it didn't quite turn out that way.  I was supposed to meet my former co-worker for lunch, but she ended up not being able to get away from her new job, so we had to postpone our lunch til another day.  I just left a little later than I had planned, so when I first woke, before my alarm went off, I just stayed in bed and read a little bit.  After Kathy had texted me and told me the bad news, I read a little bit longer!  I finished the book I was reading and started a new 'give to Ruth' pile, too!  Nothing like doing something positive to start the day, right?
Then I got up, got my shower, got dressed (no deodorant today! ugh) and all, and piddled around until time to go.  I took pictures out both the front and back windows of our first snowfall.  I was kinda surprised that I actually got to see it.  Everything I had heard was that it would disappear by the time I would get up, so I was glad I was able to see it.

Off I went to enjoy a solitary lunch before my mammogram.  I am so glad this day is here - my nerves are getting on my last nerve!  I take my time, enjoying the scenery on the way over to Milford.  The sun warmed the inside of the car up nicely, too, so I was toasty on the ride over.  I decided to go to Crackhead Barrel for my lunch (which turned into breakfast...lol) just because I can't resist to look through the little store.  I did my browsing before going in to my lunch, and again, took my time (hahaha - anyone who has shopped with me is rolling on the floor laughing right now) doing so.  I chose to have the Double Meat Breakfast and had French Toast instead of the pancakes.  I sat there and read my book and quite enjoyed my food!  When I finished my food, I read to the end of a chapter, then left, went and paid and got back on the road.
I stopped by the cemetery to visit Smitty.  I don't get to Milford that often, and I do this whenever I get to Milford.  It's only right, I think.  He was just about the nicest man ever.
Then on up the hill to get this damn mammogram over with.  After sitting in the waiting room for half an hour, they call me back.  Yay!  Another half hour later, it's over - good thing it was just a follow-up on my right breast.  Sigh.

I have to sit in the little room until the doctor/technician comes in to talk to me.  Finally, he shows up.  "All clear," he says.  I melt in relief.  He keeps talking, but I don't really hear a lot of what he says.  It WAS more of 'all clear' type of stuff, I do know that much, but it didn't really go into my brain.  I ask him about the shadows, and he said that they were still there, but that they hadn't changed in all this time (a year), so he wasn't going to worry about them, and I shouldn't either.  We would go back to regularly scheduled mammograms, I wouldn't have to do any of these follow-up appointments.  As soon as I got out in the car, I texted Ron, Josh, Chelle, and Jean.  I did just walk out to the car, although I could have danced <<happy danced>> all the way out there!!!  LOL

After I got home, I got on the pute, got my games caught up, then just piddled around on Facebook until Ron got home.  I had to leave again for my TOPS meeting.  We decided that Ron would make spaghetti for supper while I was gone, and off I went again.

Ready for more good news??  I lost 3 pounds!  Yay, me!  I guess riding that damn exercise bike does some good, after all!  I am to 20 minutes at a time on it...and have turned up the tension.  eeeeeeeee

When I got home, I enjoyed a big, and I mean BIG, bowl of spaghetti with 2 butter breads for my supper.  Oh, I wanted some comfort food.  I needed to shovel food into my mouth!  I don't know why - I guess some kind of emotional something or other.
When I put all this food into myfitnesspal, I was still over 400 calories short for the day.  I was surprised!  I thought it would be really, really close - like yesterday was.  But, no.  So, I was real glad for that.

Today is getting five stars for food, and ALAS none for exercise.
It is getting TEN stars for good news!!  The all-clear and losing 3 pounds, too.  I am happy!

Sister Day declared a success!

First of all, let me wish all, especially my family members, veterans (any and all who have served our country) a Happy Veteran's Day.  I hope you got to go somewhere and get the honors you deserve.  Not that you will EVER get all the honors you deserve, but at least some small token.  We, me and Ron, truly appreciate your and your family's sacrifice (during active service, and whatever happened afterward).  To those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, I bow my head to you.

I got up this morning at 7:30.  Not my most favorite thing to do, but as it was gonna be Sister Day, I needed to be ready!  I was in the bathroom when Jean came in at 7:40 (five minutes before I expected her!) and we started our part of the day.  We had a good time, sitting here in the living room just talking away...I sent Ruth a text at 5 after 9 and she didn't answer, so I knew she was on the road already.  She usually doesn't stop until she has a real chance to stop to check her phone.  Sure enough, a few minutes later, she texted that she was stopping for gasoline.  She did text when she got to Bethel, as was the plan, so Jean and I left here and met her at Frisch's.  They still had the breakfast bar up (for about 45 more minutes), and I asked if we buy the bar now, can we go ahead and get salad bar after it changes?  She checked for us and came back and told us, NO, when it changes, breakfast is over and that is that.  Bull hockey!  I didn't want to only eat for less than 45 minutes, then sit there for 2 more hours, because we were planning on being there until around 1.  (Ruth wanted to leave then to go visit another friend)  Ruth and Jean each decided to get breakfast bar anyway, but I decided to wait til it changed over, because I usually just don't eat that early.  When I got my food, I had a veggie soup, a salad (pretty big - went up twice), and a Big Boy.  We gave each other great hugs when we left!!!  It was a wonderful time!!!!

Jean and I came back here, and sat and talked some more, then she left at 2, just as planned (love it when things happen that way!) and I got on that darn exercise bike, even turning up the tension a bit, and tried to ride it for 20 minutes.  I hit 3 miles at 17 minutes and stopped.  My legs were starting to hurt.  Not my hips, just my legs - didn't want to push it.  Then, I finally got on the pute.  Took me a while to scroll through my newsfeed and catch up on all that, then, finally, get to my games.  I felt like it had been forever - it's gonna be like withdrawal when I go to Gatlinburg in 10 days for 5 days!!  LOL

When Ron got home, he decided to make our little Spam casserole for supper (no corn), and that was that.  It was nice and warm, and very tasty!  And not having to make it made it taste better, too!

When I put my food into myfitnesspal, I was over on calories - by 36.  THIRTY-SIX.  My, my.  I suppose I can live with that!  I should have ridden that darn bike for three more minutes, dammit.  Oh, well.  Or, maybe, I should have exercised again sometime in the evening.  Blah.  Evil E word.

Food is getting five stars for the day - it was great, and I chose it all!  Exercise is getting four, just because I could have done a bit more and didn't.  I am quite, quite happy with this day.

I like these normal Sundays

Sunday, November 10, 2013

Today was a normal Sunday.  Church, food, football.  That was it, and that's the way I like it!

We didn't go up to Georgetown today for food, so that was a little different.  We went down to Amelia, to the Barn.  It's name is really Campbell's Barn, but we just call it the Barn.  They have wonderful food, and are the nicest people, too.  They also have TVs in there, so I can see the kickoff (cause it takes them a little bit to cook Ron's chicken), then we hit the road and I listen to the game on the radio on the way.  I was a little bad - I figured after myfitnesspal hollered at me yesterday, I could do that (well, it worked in my brain...) and have a decent supper and still be okay on calories.  So, I had a bacon cheeseburger and fries.  Oh, they have the BEST fries.  They are - I guess you could call them seasoned - but you don't taste any seasoning, they are just really, really tasty!  I enjoyed every single one of them, until I got to the last little hard pieces - yuck - I don't like those.  The cheeseburger is a (at least) quarter pounder, with two pieces of bacon and cheese - again, I'm not sure what kind, but it's not American.  It melts kinda like Colby or Monterey.  I haven't had that particular meal since the week before we went on vacation in June.  Boy, was it good!  Ron, of course, had his fried chicken.  And he wonders why he hasn't/can't lose weight.  Men!

Home to football.  My Bengals lost.  BooHoo.  But they played about as crappy as I expected, seeing as this is the week after their bye.  They always lose the week after their bye.  I thought maybe this year would be different, but, no, evidently not.  They did decide to play in the fourth quarter, and tied the game up in the end, and it went to overtime.   We don't do well in overtime, and this game was no exception.

Ron, of course, kept venturing out into the kitchen and getting 'something' to snack on.  An apple, a pop cake, a ham salad sandwich (he had two of those), along with milk.  Ham salad is also known as sandwich spread.   Around 6:30-7, I had him make me a sandwich, too.  That was my supper.  He also kept falling asleep, then waking up and telling me that he wished he would be able to fall asleep and take a nap.  He is too funny!
My headache has been getting bad over the last couple of days - nothing bad, just getting worse - and I think it is weather-related.  It should come to a cumination by Tuesday morning, when a snowstorm is supposed to move through but be gone when the sun hits it, but I don't understand how they can say 2 inches of snow can melt when the sun hits it.  A dusting, a covering, yes, but 2 inches?  Nah...  I also am supposed to go get my boob squished on Tuesday, so this could be interesting.  I don't have to leave the house until 11, so we'll see.

When I put my food on myfitnesspal, I was over on my calories, but only by 85 or so.  Less than 100!  I can live with that, although I was kinda wanting a bedtime snack.  Oh, well.

Today is getting five stars for food anyway.  I may be over on calories, but not by much, and that may be because of the way I had to list it, not because of what it really was, and it was GREAT FOOD besides that...exercise, of course, is a big fat zero.

and the Craft Show is over

Saturday, November 9, 2013

Today was another day of walking the floor at the Craft Show.  I didn't walk quite as much as yesterday, but the Craft Show was only until 2:30 today, not 7:30 like last night - that made a big difference, I think.  My feet did not like me very much last night.  I only claimed one mile today for my exercise.

For my lunch (which Ron and Corgan did come up and join me for), I had a sloppy Joe sandwich, and I only ate the bottom bun, thank you, and a potato soup.  I still can't figure out why in the hell there were carrots in the potato soup. Yuck, yuck, yuck.  It's potato soup, not vegetable soup!  But...
Ron had a chili dog and a steak burger (again) and Corgan had a vegetable soup - he did offer me his carrots, the little shit, which I refused! - and he added both my and his crackers.  That boy does love crackers!  I stayed til the end, helped with the drawing of the winners of the raffle and the Bid N Buy baskets (I won my snowman basket, too!  Yay!) and the calling of the winners and the coming of picking up the prizes, and then the cleaning up.  I got home just before four.  Had a Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pie on the way home.

It was determined that we were taking Corgan home and having supper down at Josh's tonight, which is usually a nice, fun family evening down in Ripley, and that is what happened.  Michelle made a taco pie, and had pickles and olives and all that for 'sides.'  We also had sour cream, salsa, and shredded cheese to top it off.  It was very tasty!  I had a serving and a half as one serving (plateful) and a dollop of sour cream on top and quite enjoyed it.  Then we sat around and gabbed for a while, then we played Jeopardy on the Wii and I WON the first game!!!  WhooHoo!!  And, of course, Josh totally cleaned the floor up with Jean & I on the second game (actually, he changed the batteries in his remote and it worked for him....lol).  AND - my brat was amazed that I knew the name of the dude who invented x-rays...(it was a daily double and I had bet everything)...come on, son, I am not clueless!  You get it from someone...geez.  I am still shaking my head over that one.

We left to come home at 10, and it was a pleasant drive home - no deer sightings, thank goodness.  That's always a worry this time of year.  Ron turned on the TV and promptly fell asleep and I played on the pute.  Yep, normal evening.

Today gets five stars for everything!!  I was under my calories by 500 and myfitnesspal hollered at me and I let it.  I even put in a nut bar for a bedtime snack!   Bah - I ain't eating anything else.

Craft Show Day!!

Friday, November 8, 2013

Craft Show Day!  Finally!
I have been waiting for this day for a while, and it's finally here!  I made all those goodies (and my bait pictures on Facebook worked, too...thanks, Nat!) and ran around like crazy clearing my schedule, and made plans and all that.  I was ready for today.
And it was so worth it.  I felt so useful and worthwhile and helpful.  It was great feeling!  I made so many 'laps' of the Center, watching different Crafters' tables while they ran to the bathroom, or got themselves some lunch or a drink, or watched over the bake sale table, or the raffle table (we are raffling off a complete Thanksgiving dinner) as other workers needed breaks.  Oh, let me tell you, it was a wonderful day!

At lunchtime, which is really earlier than my so-called normal lunch time, one of my TOPS friends came up for lunch - we make sandwichs, chilis & soups, and desserts, also - and we had a very pleasant lunch, then back to work I went, because the crafters wanted lunch, too!  My fellow worker, Donna (who is in TOPS with us), and Saundra split bean soup between them but I went all out and had a grilled cheese and french fries, and treated myself to a piece of candy from the bake sale table for dessert (white chocolate with cherries cut up in it, with half a cherry on top. YUM!).  I figured with all the walking I was doing, I needed the carbs to keep up my energy.  Besides that, I was hungry!

So, all afternoon and evening, I walked and walked and sat and sat, and did what I needed to do.  I really enjoyed it.  A lot.  As I said before, it really felt good to be useful again.

Ron picked Corgan up after he got off of work, because Jean's truck is sitting brakeless in our driveway, then they came up to have supper with me.  Corgan had chili cheese fries, Ron had a steak burger and a chili dog, and I had a potato soup. Again, I had dessert.  This time, I succumbed to the no-bake cookies.  Yes, cookieS.  I had two.  I tried to give the second one away, but no one would take it, so - pop - into my mouth it went.  YUM.

The Craft Show closed tonight at 7:30, and I helped gather things up and do what needed done, and was on the way home at 7:40.  I was glad.  I got home, and got on the pute and got my games and all caught up and am just about ready to hit the sack - my feet are throbbing now.  I'm glad that tomorrow the Craft Show is only until 2:30...

When I put my food & exercise (I claimed walking for a mile & a half) for the day into myfitnesspal, I was 800 calories short for the day.  EIGHT HUNDRED!  I couldn't believe it!  But, I was kinda happy with that, but didn't want myfitnesspal to holler at me, so I ate a banana, then when I go to bed I will enjoy my last Cinnamon Blossom.  WhooHoo!  Now I'm only 300 short for the day - no hollering going on for that.

Today gets five stars!

Getting ready for a busy weekend

Thursday, November 7, 2013

Today was a kind of a busy bustling day, trying to get things done, so I could be free to be up at church to help out at the big Craft Show that we put on every year at this time.  Usually I am working and cannot help out, but this year, I am free and can help and want to help, and only have to get my lazy butt out of bed and do so.  But, apart of sitting and playing on the pute, I really do so much little piddling running-around crap each and every day, I must get that all out of the way for the next couple of days, not that Saturday will be a problem.  I'm sure the fellers won't miss me!  HA.

I did get up today and met Lois to walk the walk path.  It was a chilly walk, and we did manage to shave a minute off of our time - which is very good for me! - even considering that she got two phone calls, and I had to fix my coat and stop and get a drink a couple of times.  So, I'd say we did pretty darn good.  Instead of our usual 33 minutes, we made it in 32.  Maybe it's time to move my thingy on myfitnesspal from 'slow pace' to 'medium pace' - nah, I'll wait til Spring to do that.  I still think I move kinda slow.

After that, I came back home and played on the pute until time for lunch, which I had early for me (at 12:30) but damn, I was HUNGRY for a change.  I had my chicken salad and a serving of pretzels.  More playing on the pute until time to go back uptown and drop the rest of the Oreo Balls off up at church for the bake sale and get a few other errands done.  Just before I left, too, Ron called me.  He was on his way home and it was only THREE.  Wow.  Yep, it's getting to be cold weather.  They will be moving his starting time soon, back to 6.  Phooey.  But, it happens every year.  We'll live.  So, he met me up at IGA after we both did what we needed to around town, and we went in bought the makings for beef stew for supper.  For some reson, that just sounded right for supper tonight.  All the food I've bought the last two weeks, and we want something else.  How weird are we?  Don't answer that!!  While in IGA, we discovered that they have added some stuff to their 5-for-$20 section, too.  They had regular thin-sliced bacon, thick-sliced bacon, smoked and maple flavored bacon, too, smoked sausage (& cheddar), kielbasa, lil smokies (& cheddar), regular and maple breakfast sausages - both links and patties, oh, all kinds of stuff!  They usually only have hamburger, spencer steaks, thin-assed pork chops, and some gnarly looking chicken.  Not much of a selection at all.  We were happy, and, of course, spent more than we expected to when we went in.  It'll be okay, though, we just won't go out over the weekend.

We got home, and I got the stew on (NO carrots, yay!) so we could eat right around 7.  After he watched his weather during the 6:00 news, Ron did his Wii, and I got suckered into doing a Simple Test.  Yep, I hate weighing myself in the evening.  NOT a good idea at all.

I gave myself a generous serving of stew with two pieces of buttered bread.  Man, was it good.  I had an apple for my dessert right after supper.  Later on, during football, I had a banana.
I was still over 300 calories short on myfitnesspal!! Yay, me!!  I can certainly live with that!

Today is getting five stars for everything!

A blah busy day

Wednesday, November 6, 2013

Last night, after I wrote my blog, I found Gone with the Wind on the TV.  I LOVE this movie!  And it was on TMC, which shows - or it showed this one - with no commercials!!!  I was determined to watch the whole thing.  I almost made it, too.  I fell asleep right before the big line.  Last thing I remember was her running back home after Melly died.  sigh
Ron woke me up when he got up to go to work, so I toddled on in to bed, and I cuddled in under the heavy quilt (you know - RON'S) which was still warm from him being under it and I was off to snoozeland cause I don't remember a single thing until I got up to pee around 9:30.  I even impressed myself on that!  Then, I went back to sleep until 11ish.  Then I read a bit, getting up right before noon.

I finished more of the Oreo Balls for the bake sale with some chocolate I found in the cabinet (it's strange what you find in the cabinet when you actually LOOK, right?) but I still have to go to the store and get more chocolate to finish them all.  Triple batches take a lot more than ya think, I guess...
I did need to do up the individual apple pies, but I just couldn't work up the energy to do them.  Once I finished the Oreo Balls I could do, I just didn't feel like doing anything else.  Nothing.  I did do up the dishes from yesterday, and play on the pute a bit.  But - that was it.  Blah.  I never even had lunch.  Just never even worked up enough to care to want to go out in the kitchen and find something.  I just didn't care, and wasn't particularly hungry.  Weird, huh?

On the other hand, my sisters and I had a wonderful little conversation going on while the three of us were on the computer and all on Facebook at the same time - that doesn't always happen, and that was pretty nice for a change.

Ron got home before 4:30, and he asked me where was his apple pie (like he was supposed to get one anyway!) and I told him that I hadn't felt like making them today, and do you know what that man said???  He says, "Well, do you want me to peel the apples for you??"  Oh, I love him so much!  I told him, if he wants to, it would be a big help.  I just didn't feel like doing much today, but I really needed to get it done, so he says okay, and off to the kitchen we go.  He peels, and I cut crusts and then mix ingredients for the pie guts.  They go into the oven at 6.  I have to leave to go to the meeting at 7ish, because I have to go to the store first - for that darn chocolate - and I want to get all that bake sale stuff out of the house when I go to the meeting tonight, and the meeting starts at 7:30.

When I came home from the meeting, I was hungry (wow!) and wanted potato soup.  Guess what?  I didn't have any!  Phooey!  so, I settled for Chicken Noodle Soup and some pretzels.  Then I was still hungry, so I snacked on some SweeTarts Skulls N Bones....only one serving, but still.  I made myself stop then.  LOL

Today gets five (actually, about eight) stars for food.  I was about 800 calories short today, which is okay with me, but myfitnesspal hollers at me when that happens.  Exercise, of course, was nonexistant.

Election day blues

Tuesday, November 5, 2013

Today is/was election day.  I did my civic duty and voted.  I certainly hope my little bit will make some small difference in the long run.

My plan for today was to get up around 10, go uptown and do the errands I needed to do (only 4 of them!), one of which WAS voting. Welllllllll, I woke up around 8:30.  EIGHT THIRTY!  So, I laid in bed and read a bit, finally getting up between 9:30 and 10, when I was gonna get up anyway.  I got dressed, and headed out.  Went to drop off some outgrown clothes at the free store, then to the post office, then to vote, and finally into IGA for paper towels (it's always something...).  Back home, I did dishes, then it was pute time!

I finally had my lunch around 12:30.  I had chicken salad, walnuts, and a banana.  I also spent time getting up and getting my kitchen table cleaned off and ready for us to make the bake sale items for this weekend.  Josh was going to stop after work and we would trade cars back, and Chelle, Jean, and Corgan were coming up to help make the bake sale goodies.  A nice family evening in the middle of the week for a change!  Those don't happen very often, and are very nice when they do happen!  I also put on a pot of beans for supper, so that was taken care of, too.  I would make cornbread to go with it, when it was time.

I just played on the pute until they all got there - and, get this!  RON  got home at 3:30, too!  So he was home to enjoy this family evening, too.  How wonderful is that?!  Not that he would help with the goodies, but at least he was there with us.  The fellers all ended up going outside and goofing around - Corgan did make a few Nutter Butter snowmen, but the call of "outside" just got to be too much for him to resist.

I did have to go uptown at 6:30 to do my weigh-in for TOPS - we didn't have a meeting tonight, because of voting - and they all ate supper while I was doing that.  I wasn't going to eat supper until I got back, anyway - I sure didn't want to eat and then go get weighed!  That could have been very bad!  As it was, I gained a pound.  I was happy that it was only ONE pound, since I had been bad on my Free Day on Sunday.  I am okay with that, and I can work like hell to take care of that one pound during this week.

I did have my bowl of beans and 2 pieces of cornbread when I got home.  I also claimed a couple of snacks, since I did lick my fingers, spoons, etc. while making the goodies, like any good cook does...LOL.  If you want some of these goodies, please come to the bake sale at the Craft Show at St. Mary's Church on Friday and Saturday this weekend.  We made Nutter Butter Snowmen, Oreo Balls, Pretzel/Kiss/M&M candies, and I will make individual apple pies tomorrow.  YUM!

Today will get five stars for food.  I was under on calories, even with giving myself extra snacks.  Exercise gets zero - I was a slacker on that score today.

Back to it after my Free Day

Sunday, November 3, 2013
Monday, November 4, 2013

Sunday
MY FREE DAY!!  I so totally enjoyed this free day!
A bridal shower with the food that goes with such, and I stopped and got us Subway and a bag of Ruffles on the way home to have for supper.
YUM.

Monday.
I woke up around nine this morning, which was good, because I had to go to church this morning for a funeral (I am on the Bereavement Committee at church) of a fellow parishioner (or, technically, a fellow parishioner's spouse, because he's been in the Veteran's Home in Georgetown).  I did have the alarm set, but I was up before the alarm went off.  That changing the clocks does that to you...
After the funeral, I helped straighten up the church, chatted with people for a bit, then went to lunch at Gold Star.  I haven't done that for a while, and it was good!  I had my normal food there - a 5-way and a cheese coney, along with a tea.

I got back home, and played happy homemaker for a bit, getting laundry out of baskets and hung up.  I know!  Can you believe it?  I also got my suitcase (shirts and socks) packed for Gatlinburg - 2 weeks from Wednesday! - but I can't pack my pants yet, because I only have three pair that I wear daily.
Then on to play on the pute.  Josh texts me a little after two - he is home from his weekend jaunt to Canada! - he got home almost exactly at two.  Yay!  My car will be home tomorrow!

Ron gets home from work almost exactly at five - how strange is that?  I had JUST finished riding the exercise bike for fifteen minutes (2,75 miles, but only 70 calories) and somehow I had missed his text saying he was on his way, so he was worried about me, and I was amazed he was home already.  Ha...our first few minutes were very weird - I walked over to my desk to get my cell phone and it went off as I was reaching for it.  It was his message just now coming in!  It said 'stored at 4:51' and then 'received at 5:00'  and I showed it to him to prove I didn't get it til now.  We both just looked at each other and shook our heads.  We had never heard of such a thing before!

We had frozen dinners for supper.  He had Beef Broccoli, and I had Tuna Noodle.  When I put my food into myfitnesspal, I was under on my calories by just over 200.  Yay, me.

Watched football and played on the pute all night tonight.  No snacks - I was way too close to do that!

Today gets five stars for food - I was under on calories, and it was darn good food!  Exercise is getting three stars - I didn't do as much as I should have, but I did get some in there, and it felt GOOD to be able to be on that bike for a full fifteen minutes.  I do think we are gonna have to tighten up the tension on it, though.  We aren't burning up enough calories with it turned down all the way.  We'll have to experiment with that.

Another run-around Saturday

Saturday, November 2, 2013

Today was a back-to-normal run-around Saturday for us.  We got up (Corgan first, then Ron, then me) and got on the road by quarter til ten.  We stopped to get the fellers some coffee and me a tea (and they forgot my cup of ice...boo), then on down the road we went.  First stop was Walgreens (drive-thru) for an Rx, then Michael's over in Eastgate.  I found what I was looking for over there, thank goodness - they were my last chance (as far as I was concerned, anyway) for this item.  Then over to his cousin's to pick up some apples she was giving us (yum - apple pie!) and back over to Amelia we went.  I stopped at the Pill Box and picked up a Christmas gift on the way to Bob Evans, which was our next stop.
We were to meet some friends for lunch at 11:30 (See?  We got a lot done in a short amount of time!)  It was a very nice leisurely lunch, and a great time.  I had the Sunshine Skillet and 2 slices of banana nut bread, although I gave half of one slice to Corgan.  Corgan, believe it or not, only had a bowl of chicken and noodle soup.  I was surprised!  Ron had the pot roast sandwich & fries.
After lunch, we went to a Craft Show there in Amelia at a church (the Methodist church - the one with the beautiful blue stained glass windows) and walked around in there.  I found another Christmas gift, and Ron bought me one, too!  WhooHoo - a successful day!  Then we went back to WalMart and I picked up the rest of the stuff I need to have everything to make all items for the things I am making for the bake sale at OUR Craft Show next weekend.  I think I have shopped enough the last three days for three months!  No joke!

Back home we go, stopping at IGA long enough for Ron to run in and get a bag of ice (see?  it never stops...) and then, finally, we are done.  The mail is waiting for us on the front porch - I got what I ordered for Gatlinburg!  Yay!  A little earlier than I expected, but, hey - I got it!  Unloading the truck and carrying it all in, then the fellers go outside and I stay in and put stuff away, then bake cookies for after church tonight (a reception for the Memorial Mass).  Hey, we have a spare 2 1/2 hours before we have to leave home again!  Wow!  Chelle and Jean come up to pick Corgan up and hang for a bit before they all leave.  They go, then we get everything all together, change our clothes, and off we go again.

We go to church, then enjoy the socializing afterward.  We come back home and I make a pack of hot dogs for our supper.  That's four hot dogs apiece for us.  I'm not sure what Ron added to his, but I had walnuts, five bread & butter pickle slices, and a turnip with mine.  And that was supper.  He found Men In Black on the TV, and that's what we watched.  And now it's started again - because, surprise, he is asleep.  LOL

Today will get five stars for food - I was under on my calories by about 200.  I can't report my weigh-in, because I forgot to do it - uh-oh.  I will do it first thing in the morning, I promise!  Then off to a bridal shower for me!  Yes, on a football Sunday.  I am sad.  But, I won't miss my Bengals, and that's a good thing!
Exercise will get three stars.  With all the running we did - in and out of stores, through parking lots (I park out in the boonies) and stores, etc., I considered that I walked (at least) a mile, and am claiming that.

I probably won't do my myfitnesspal OR write a blog tomorrow - with football and the bridal shower, I think I am going to declare a "free day" because I am pretty darn sure I am gonna eat way too much bad/wrong stuff, and no way in hell am I gonna be able to remember it all, either!  I will TRY to be as good as I can, but - c'mon, man!

A new month starts...

Friday, November 1, 2013

Today started very early this morning.  Ron got me up to take him to work.  He had decided that he didn't really want me driving Josh's car around too very much (around town was okay, but not further afield), and since I had to drive to Georgetown today, he wanted me to drive his truck.  Thus, I needed to take him to work.  And, NO, he wasn't about to drive Josh's car.  HE doesn't drive other people's vehicles.  don't ask me - he's a man.
So, up at 4, we leave at 4:15, and he talks and talks and talks about deer all the way.  Ron - I am NOT stupid, okay??  But..I bite my tongue.  Again.  I get back home, and back to bed I go.  Of course, I can't go right back to sleep.  But, I leave the light off, and eventually do fall back asleep.  I have the alarm set for 10, and yes, it goes off way too soon.  But I get back up, get dressed and off I go to do the things that need done today.
First off, I go to church.  Today is All Saint's Day, which makes sense because yesterday all the ghosts and goblins ran amok, today we honor the saints.  See?
After church, I went to Frisch's for lunch with some friends and we sat there for over an hour - yipes! - didn't mean to do that, but what can I say?  I had a Big Boy and a bowl of veggie soup with 4 crackers.   I also had some cole slaw - about half a serving, but it didn't taste that great today.  We sat there and talked and talked and laughed and had a great time.
When I left there, I went to Family Dollar to see what kind of stuff I could find on clearance.  Hey, it's after Halloween now.   As I'm leaving there, Ron calls to say he's done with work now - can I come get him?  What?  It's just going on 3!  Amazing!  On a Friday!  I ask him if he wants clothes, so he can go with me and do visiting, which is why I was going to Georgetown early this afternoon anyway.  He finally agrees, so now I have to drive back out home and get him some clothes.  Sigh.  But, still, good, cause now he's coming home already!  I go back out home (play car merry-go-round, too, so we can park Ron's truck in the premium spot LOL) and get him clothes and pack him stuff to do (word search books and his DS) while I do some visiting - I knew he wouldn't do it all.  And off I went again.
I go pick him up first - he changes right there in the parking lot (his truck doors each open out, so he is blocked in) and off we go, first to the hospital, then to Villa.  We soon find out that I FORGOT the bag of stuff for him 'to do' - imagine that, I forgot something.  eeeerrrrrgggggg.  Then it's time to go to SaveALot to meet Jean bringing Corgan.  Well, we are shopping and she is meeting us, but it's time for us to be there.  That was our meeting time, so we had to be there.  Can't risk throwing the earth off-balance, ya know.

So, they get there, and we get done shopping.  We stand in the parking lot talking and we finally leave.  After we get home, Corgan picks out a movie (Predator) and our evening begins.  After a while, we each make our own supper - I had three fried eggs, walnuts, and a cinnamon blossom.  We had a very pleasant evening together.  I've been on the pute, they've been watching TV, Ron mostly through his eyelids as usual.

Today gets five stars for food - I was considerably under on my calories!  And I'm giving it two stars for exercise.  I did a LOT of walking, between all the places I went, and all the ins and outs, and all that.  I think I did a fair bit of walking, and so I am claiming it!

Halloween

Thursday, October 31, 2013

Today started off as a 'normal' day.  I know - define normal.  Nothing unusual, in this case.

I woke up around 9, got up and went to meet Lois to walk the Bethel Walk Path, and we did the Walk Path in our usual 33 minutes.  Yes!  I am so glad!  I feel like I am actually getting over this darn cold now.  It still likes to me cough and cough and cough every now and again, but overall, I think I've finally kicked its ass.  As soon as we're done with our walk, I go down the road to visit the Wals - Walgreens and WalMart.  First Walgreens to pick up an Rx, then WalMart for some 'weekly shopping.'  Yeah, right.  So, a nice long walk after my long walk.  After Walgreens, I do stop at Bob Evans for my lunch before the big weekly shopping.  It's not good to shop on an empty stomach, you know...lol.  I had the Sunshine Skillet and two slices of banana nut bread.  Then off for that other walking excursion.

On the way home, I stopped to visit a church friend who had been hospitalized and then in a rehab facility that I hadn't been able to go visit because of the cold.  It was a very good visit.  I stayed for probably an hour and a half - two hours, and we had a nice chat.  She had had a heart attack, and then a stroke (if not a series of mini strokes) and had some motor skills problems that needed worked out before they let her come home, but she did quite well.  Her meds made her have dry-mouth, and that gave her more problems than a think the medical problems did, but that's just my opinion.  She is starting therapy there at home next week, and that's a good thing, she won't have to travel around.  She won't be able to church for another month or so, and that's kinda sad, but I guess it's better that she work into it easily.  There's a LOT of people to deal with at the same time at church.

Then, since Josh was gonna take my car this weekend anyway, and it was close to time for him to get off work, and I was almost next-door to where he was, I decided to just stop at his work and trade cars, rather than him drive to my house and blah blah blah.  I tried to call him, but he didn't answer, but when I pulled in there, there was a truck (I thought unloading) in the driveway, so I knew he was busy.  I pulled in beside his car and just started trading stuff between the cars.  Of course, about this time, it started a little more than sprinking, too.  Someone told him that someone was out there messing with his car, so he came out to see what was going on and I got caught before I was done.  He said that they were LOADING that truck, and that they were just about done, and as he was saying this, it pulled out.  We finished with the trade-out, then I went in and traded keys.  I gave him a big hug and told him to be careful and have fun.  Back on the road I went - in his car.

I got home, got the groceries carried in and mostly put away (believe it or not, all the cans don't fit in the cabinet) and get to get on the pute for a bit.  I also had a sugar low along in here, so had to eat a cinnamon blossom that I had brought home from BE this morning (for my lunch and/or snacks the next few days...sigh)
Ron got home from work, and he made his own supper (a salad and some leftovers) while I had the Johnny Marzetti that was in the fridge.  Not the best of suppers, but I thought it would suffice, especially after the sugar low.  I was still playing on the pute, as I usually do while waiting for, then watching TNF.  Then the pute started going all snarky, gnarly, weird - use whatever word you want.  I assumed it was because of the wind, and I am still convinced that that's what it was.  So, I got off the pute and turned all my attention to all the football stuff on the TV, because, by golly, they were talking about my Bengals!

THEN...Mother Nature decided to start her TRICK for the evening.  Up to this point, there had just been some rain, with some wind.  Nothing like what the weathermen had been saying and scaring the bejeezus outta people for the last three days over for tonight (by this time).  Trick or Treating had even been canceled and moved to Friday or Saturday nights in some communities because of these forecasts.  I sure don't know why -  weathermen and baseball players are only good (.300) 70% of the time, and are considered good and paid accordingly - but I digress.  MY Bengals were on Thursday Night Football, too, and since now it's getting darn close to game time, various friends are losing power, cable, satellite, computer service, phone, all that kind of stuff because of the wind.  There was lots of texting going on during the game, keeping different people up on what was happening.  I was very lucky and none of that happened to me - until the fourth quarter, close to the end of the game, and then into overtime.  Geez!  I did get my satellite back in time to see the pathetic end.  Wow.  I must say, I was impressed that they played well enough (good enough?) that it WENT to OT.  I thought that we had so many injuries that we would just get murderpated and that would be that.  But it was a very good football game, for those that like good football games.  Not a blowout, not a lopsided game, just a very well-played game.  Quite unexpected plays (on both sides) and it was fun.

So, now, the game is over, and I tried to get on the pute and do my myfitnesspal and my blog, but it still is very rainy and windy, and it's not doing right yet.  I manage to do myfitnesspal, but there was no way I could do my blog, so I told the pute night-night and went on to bed.

I am giving today four stars for food.  I was over on my calories, and I haven't done that in a long time.  But, damn, was it good!
Today is getting five stars for exercise.  I did great on that!
