Or, actually, from Thursday, August 25th to now...
Not much has happened, just more of my everyday life over and over again.
I've had computer problems again.
I've been sunburned all week - from our day swimming on August the 24th! - and we (me and Bert) went swimming again on Wednesday, August 31st. I did my best to stay out of the sun, but how can you swim in a giant pool and not be in the sun? It was pretty awesome driving home from Teresa's that day - I saw TWO different rainbows! The first one was before I got to KFC, making me think to get Ron some chicken for supper, which he loved! It was still there when I pulled back out on the road, and didn't fade until I got kinda close to Amelia.
Then I saw the next one as I approached the 222 South intersection, and it got stronger (brighter, more vibrant) the closer I got to Bethel! They were both gorgeous, even though neither of them were full arches, just more like half of one side of the arch. I'm glad there weren't many cars around me - they would have thought I was crazy, taking pictures like I was. That is, if they weren't, too!
Josh, Chelle, Jean, and Corgan came up last weekend after Chelle got back from Hamburger University in Chicago. Josh and Corgan drove up to have a few days with her in Chicago, and they had pictures and stories to share. Jean enjoyed her Jeanie time at home!
We perused the information we had all gathered and came up with a game plan for the Rita/Corgan birthday weekend at the end of the month. I guess technically it's the beginning of next month, but who's counting? My birthday is on the Thursday, and his is on the Monday, and that won't happen again for quite awhile, so we decided a small weekend getaway was gonna work instead of a 'party.' We finally decided on Metamora, IN. It seemed to have the most that we can do for those couple of days but not be so far away and cost too much money. I think it's gonna be fun!
When I weighed in at my TOPS meeting on Tuesday night, I was very surprised to find that not only had I lost the 4.6 pounds I gained last week, but also an extra pound! That's right, I lost 5.6 pounds this week! Yay, me! However, when Ron and I did our weigh-in on the Wii, it said that I had gained 2.2 pounds...I don't get it, but I know that the two don't usually agree, so I'm not gonna worry about it.
I have decided that I'm not going to make my weight be such an important t.h.i.n.g. in my life. It is what it is, and I've done so much better than I ever expected I could.
You know, when I was my largest, I thought that I looked about what I really do look like now. Yes, I was delusional. But now I really do look like this, and I am very happy with this. I bought myself new pants (in the teens!) and they fit! I was SO thrilled - you just do not know unless you've been in this spot - and I can deal with whatever comes now, just as long as the scale numbers keep going down. It may take me some time to get "anywhere" but I am okay with that.
My personal war against myself...

Tuesday
I had nothing planned for today, but I received a phone call about the baskets I had won at the festival on Sunday. I can't wait until I am going down the road again on Wednesday - they must be picked up today. (I wonder, though, what would happen if I truly couldn't get there!) So, I must make the trip down 1freaking25 this afternoon - between 4:00 and 5:00, which does not correspond with anything I have to do!
I decide to get there right before 5, and kill an hour sitting in Bob Evans before driving back to Bethel for my TOPS meeting. With this in mind, I get myself a bowl (side order) of fruit to pick at during that hour instead of "something to eat." Well - it didn't work!
When I weighed in, the scale said that I had gained 4.6 pounds!! 4.6!! What a crock! I couldn't believe it! Totally blew my month of losses out of the water....I was so disgusted with myself. How could I have messed that up so bad?
I came home to a supper of a huge salad, as planned, but - damn!
Wednesday
Today went pretty much as planned.
I left here at 11:00, picked Bert up soon after, and off we went to swim at Teresa's all day. And I do mean all day! Once we got there and everyone was changed into swimsuits and we went to the pool, we didn't leave until after 5:00! Teresa did leave to run up and get us all lunch at either Wendy's or McDonald's, but we ate our lunch poolside and then swam again - without putting more sunscreen on (big mistake!) - then finally went back to Teresa's apartment, changed back to regular clothes, hung out for a bit, then headed for home.
Ron had cheese weenies cooked and we had the rest of the salad veggies with them. And that was the evening.
It was a wonderful day!!!! I can take days like this!!

Wednesday & Thursday
Two long boring stay-at-home days. Oh, how these close in on me...so much so that on Thursday, I went uptown to have lunch at Gold Star for no good reason except that I wanted to go somewhere. I haven't done that so very much this year, and I admit that I used to do it all the time! Just manufacture any old excuse to go uptown just to go to lunch, but I have really made the effort this year to actually be going somewhere. Not this time - I was bad.
After Ron got home, I had to go back uptown to deposit his check, which he hadn't cashed, and if I'd known that, I wouldn't have gone up earlier. Oh, hindsight, how you bite me in the ass! Anyway, I got the money in the bank, got Ron his money, and went back home in less than half an hour. Bah!
Friday
My shopping day! Freedom from the house!
I plotted out my path for the day - post office, bank, Walgreen's, lunch (Don Rigo), Walmart - and off I went! I left home around 12:30 and didn't get home until after 5. After carrying the groceries in and putting the perishables away, I went in and took a little snooze in on the bed until Ron got home. I was exhausted! But I figured that I got my exercise today, and that was good.
Saturday
We didn't do anything much on Saturday. Ron worked on the yard - lawnmowers and weedeaters - as usual, getting it finished before the rain started. I puttered around here in the house as usual.
He did come in and surprise me by asking me if I wanted to go over to FeedMill in Felicity for some lunch. You can be sure I didn't say "no" and off we went. He had the chicken livers dinner and I had a ham hoagie with steak fries. When we got back home, he took a nap while I just reclined. Then it was time for us to get dressed in our casual glad rags and go to the End of Summer Bash we were invited to. Our friends had changed a (would-be) wedding reception to this End of Summer Bash so as to not lose their deposits and all - and it was wonderful fun! All the greatness of a reception without all the interruptions! They even had a cake:
And it was good, too! It was a great evening, even though I can only chair dance except for the slow songs and then I have to use a crane to get my loving hubby to dance with me. I was happy to see that I wasn't the only older woman having this problem!
We got home just before midnight, and we both are dreading the alarm in the morning.
Sunday
Church and lunch! Less than a month to "church, lunch, and football"!! Yay!!
Today's lunch is down at St. Bernadette's festival in Amelia - they have fried chicken and you know Ron won't pass that up! We do this every year, so we know it's gonna happen. They also have a pretty darn good silent auction (bid-n-buy) and I do like to check those over, too.
After our lunch, which we had with other church friends, we now have plans for the rest of the day! We are going to their house to play dominoes - what a day this is turning out to be!
I had bought pull tabs ($5.00) when walking by to go to lunch at the festival, and opened them while in line for the chicken. I won $27.00!! As we were leaving, I cashed those in and stopped - I won more than I spent.
I went through the bid-n-buy and put in my bid on two different Christmas baskets, and then we left. We stopped at Walmart for our veggies for salads for our suppers the next couple of days and munchies to take to our friends' house this afternoon. We took those veggies home and put them in the fridge, and off we went again.
We didn't get home until after 9:30, and we had a very fun afternoon, which was a lost different than the one we thought we were going to have when we left that morning!
Teresa had texted me and asked me about coming over and going swimming 'tomorrow' and I told her I'd call Bert when I got home and I'd let her know. Well, after a couple of phone calls back and forth, Bert and I are going swimming on Wednesday, but I'm going swimming on Monday.
Monday
Spent the day swimming at Teresa's. We had lunch from KFC, so I ate too much. It was great fun, and I am very tired.
No plans for tomorrow.

Monday
Happy Homemaker Day. Yay! Not....
But I did get the weekend dishes done, as well as a load of towels, so both my dishes and laundry chores were fulfilled. One of these days soon, I'm going to have to put away all the clothes in the baskets because I am running out of baskets - I hate when that happens!
I fell asleep during the afternoon, and next thing I know, Ron is home and it's time to figure out supper. I zap him one of his frozen Chinese things and make myself some chicken noodle soup.
I then proceeded to fall asleep while watching dead guys after Ron had gone on to bed, and he woke me up when he got up to go to work and sent me on to bed. Ai yi yi! What is going on here?
Tuesday
I woke up with a terrible, terrible headache with the remnants of a gawdawful dream remaining with me - very disconcerting! - and the headache didn't go away all day. I piddled around, doing small chores like emptying the dishdrainer and folding the towels and getting them put away. I eventually fell asleep in my recliner and Ron woke me up when he came in. Two days in a row! I sure don't like this!
I got my shower and dressed to go to my TOPS meeting, even though I was sure that was going to be a disaster.
But, to my surprise, I lost .8 of a pound! Not only did I lose, I ended up being Loser of the Week!!! Yeah, I guess my week wasn't so bad after all - I claim a Victory!
I get back home to find Ron cooking himself some fried green tomatoes, and I have to find my own supper. I cheated and went out and got a sausage, egg, and cheese croissant to zap for myself, which I had with the rest of the box of Better Cheddars.
We both had ice cream for dessert, and that was that. (Silky Ron broke one of my spoons digging out the ice cream - yeah, he was using a plastic spoon! Crazy man!)
I refuse to fall asleep in my chair tonight......
No plans again tomorrow. Man, this week is lasting forever already!

A bad eating weekend, but a most satisfying weekend!

Saturday
This Saturday started as most Corgan-weekend Saturdays do, with me "sleeping in" while Ron and Corgan went out into the garage and started their messing about with lawnmowers, weedeaters, and whatnot. I did get up a little before noon because I wanted to run over to Felicity to see if I could find something for supper tonight in their selection of the 5/$20. meat, and I thought Corgan might want to go with me. He is getting pretty good at getting out of real work when Grandpa has work for him to do, you know. He will be 12 in a couple of months....
Anyway, he declined to go with me, but Ron was put on alert that when I got back, it would be time to down tools, clean up, and go to lunch. This was planned because Grandpa wanted to show Corgan the new restaurant we've discovered (BJ's Lake) and he didn't feel like going last night.
I found nothing at Felicity but our ice cream bars (finally!), so only came home with two boxes to put into the freezer. After we eat lunch, I'll have to go up to Save-A-Lot and see what I can find there for supper.
After a half hour wait, we get to go to lunch (yeah, the man doesn't take hints well), and Corgan enjoyed his lunch of fish'n'chips. Ron had the mushroom hoagie again, and I tried a different cheeseburger - this one was like a Double R and was supposed to have hickory BBQ sauce, but I asked to NOT have that - and it was delicious!
After lunch, we do go up to Save-A-Lot, where those two decide to sit in the hot ol' truck while I go in the nice air conditioned store. I peruse the 5/$20. meat, and I do find some small steaks that I can get enough packages of to feed us all, and that is what I chose. I also got a bag of potatoes to make fried potatoes to go with the steaks. Sounded like a yummy summer to me!
We got back home and Corgan started playing his video game again, Ron went back outside, and I went to lay on the bed and read until time to start peeling the potatoes for supper. I expected Josh and Chelle around quarter after 6, so I wanted to start peeling the potatoes at 5, so they'd be on by 5:30. Believe it or not, all that worked out just about perfect! Corgan had chosen mixed vegetables as our veggie, and I added a jar of mushrooms to them, and I had them on low on a back burner. When Josh and Chelle got here, I had Josh cook the steaks on the griddle because they all like them medium-rare, but I like to cook them done. He cooked mine first, so it was done enough for me.
So, anyway, supper all got done at the same time and on the table hot, hot, hot! Man, was it good!
After supper, we played cards. Lots and lots of cards, with one break to eat ice cream. You see, there was some ice cream left after the birthday party last week, but someone (who can't figure out why he weighs so much) finished off two of the cartons. He told me to buy more while in Save-A-Lot, and I did, plus one. So we had lots of ice cream to eat! After our break, we played more cards.
We had a grand time - it was wonderful!
Sunday
Sunday. Church and lunch.
Well, Ron surprised me today - he wanted to go somewhere different for lunch. I told him that I didn't care - he was driving, and he was paying, so wherever he goes is fine. I'll find something to eat. He both threw out a couple of choices, and he said Butterbee's in Mt. Orab a couple of times, so I finally told him that if he wants Butterbee's, go to Butterbee's!
So that's where we went. We took the longcut - it's not a shortcut - up to Mt. Orab, and finally got there. We had the appetizer sampler (I think it's called the Tailgate Sampler), then we both ordered meals. He got chicken - something BBQed - and I got the big fish dinner (cod). Well, we had filled up so much on the appetizer and our sides that we couldn't finish our meals, so we got to bring some food home, and that doesn't happen very often.
We were driving home, coming up Hoover Road, and as we came around the curves, we saw the rain up across 133. How cool it looked - like a huge curtain! We were hoping that we'd be able to get home before the rain crossed 133, but we weren't that lucky. We got soaked while our fat asses ran into the house. It only rained for maybe five minutes, too - we could have just waited it out! Who knew? We're still waiting for the rain that's going to start and last for four days that the weatherman said was going to start Saturday around noon.....
Anyway, we were home now, and we changed out of our wet clothes and Ron turned on the TV and that was that. It was dead guys for the rest of the day.
After a while, we did go have some ice cream, but we didn't really have any supper.
It did start to sprinkle rain once again, and we were blessed with a rainbow again - the second one this week! I know rainbows don't really look all that different every time, but when they happen in your back yard, it's kinda thrilling, especially when they are full arches!
And now this day is over. Not only the day, but the weekend, and it's been a most satisfying weekend. Not good on the diet part, but very good on the being with family and just enjoying life part. I can certainly live with those!
Nothing at all planned for this week, so I will be bored out of my skull. Oh, well, I was busy as hell this past week, so this will balance it out.

Thursday
I had a doctor appointment today. Doc had to fill out the paper for the DMV and he likes for us to fill out such papers together, so...
After my appointment, I waffled over whether to have my lunch at Crackhead Barrel or Longhorn, finally deciding to be good and have my almost-perfect salad at Longhorn. I called Ron to see where he was but he didn't answer, and I went on. He called me back as I was pulling in to Longhorn and said that he was on 32, but close to Batavia - so I just missed him!! Just our luck.
My salad was wonderful, as usual, and I quite enjoyed it.
Getting home, I did a bit of Happy Homemaker crap, getting the house ready for the weekend. Not too much, mind you, but some. Mostly dishes.....
After Ron got home, I made him one of his frozen Chinese things for his supper, and I had a bowl/can of chicken noodle soup for my supper. Dead guys on TV until we got tired of 'em, then it was game shows.
Friday
Shopping! Beautiful, wonderful shopping!
Bert met me at Bob Evans for some lunch before we both did our respective shopping, and we had a grand time talking and catching up! I had the chicken salad plate that I like so much, although I did have four slices of banana nut bread today. I had two slices while waiting for Bert to show up, then two more with my meal.
Then, while shopping, I decided to buy us some munchies. I bought Better Cheddars, though, instead of chips, thinking they'd be better for us. We haven't had any kind of munchies in so long......and I've been wanting something crunchy, so I did it!
After getting home - after Ron and Corgan! - and getting the groceries in and the perishables put away, I grabbed a box of Better Cheddars and went to lay on the bed (Corgan had confiscated my chair) to recover from the shopping trip and the heat. Well, let me tell you, Better Cheddars are damn good. Damn Good.
I had to put the box aside to go make our supper - that shrimp dish - and then brought my serving of shrimp in to eat with my crunchy Better Cheddars and, next thing I knew, the box was empty!! Empty!! I couldn't believe it!! Man, do I love those Better Cheddars - or I was so ready for something crunchy. Take your pick.
Nothing planned for tomorrow - I'll probably be on a carb overload downer, anyway.

A new 3-month check-up, and back to normal

Monday
A trip today to the hematologist for my 3-month check-up for the CLL. Trust me, this is totally different from my 3-month check-up with Doc for my diabetes! But it all went very well, even though I had to see a nurse practioner instead of the hematologist - it seems that he is on paternity leave! - but after they drew three vials of blood and put me in a room, I found out that my WBC (white blood count) has improved. It was 16.9 and now it's 14.3 and that can only be a good thing. Don't be trying to tell me that prayers don't work! I was assured that since I am still asymptomatic, and with this good count, all I can do is continue doing what I am, keep my eye out for symptoms, and come back in three months.
After leaving the doctor's office, I went to have lunch at Mama's Grill in Williamsburg. Oh, they have such a menu - it's hard to choose between breakfast and lunch, let alone choose what exactly I want! I finally decide on lunch, and start narrowing down my choices from there. I finally decided on a country fried steak meal with mashed potatoes and a mix of corn and lima beans (aka succotash), and it was oh, so good! I sat there and enjoyed every single bite!
Once I got home, I changed my clothes and just sat in my recliner. I was still a little overwhelmed by the news that I am still Stage 0 in the cancer and can pretty confidently be certain to remain there, and I had just had a very good meal. Yeah, a little nap sounded good.
After that, I worked on the Enderman cake I was making for my great-niece. I have to deliver it to her birthday party tomorrow, so I have to finish it today - no more excuses! It's not as easy to put together as I thought it was going to be, and I should have bought a third can of icing, but I didn't, so I have to make do with the two cans. This is gonna be fun....not.
I do this to the cake and let it set. I make Ron a cabbage dish for his supper. I do that to the cake and let it set. I make myself a bowl/can of chicken noodle soup for my supper and watch some dead guys. I go to get myself a drink to go to bed, and...there sits the cake! I forgot about it! Crap! Now I have to finish it before I really can go to bed. About an hour later, I can finally go to bed because now the cake is finished. Whew!
Tuesday
This is my Happy Homemaker Day this week - kinda. I can only start a load of laundry (towels) because I have to leave to deliver the cake to the birthday party, which is over in Eastgate at Chuck E. Cheese, and that's not just a little drive from here, you know.
The cake gets delivered and I get back home, where I recline in my recliner for a bit after getting the towels into the dryer. Sitting and driving for all that time doesn't feel all that great, you know. After a bit, though, I get up, get my shower, and get ready to go to my TOPS meeting.
Weighing in, I find that I have lost weight this week. Only .2 of a pound, but it's a loss and I will take it! We had a short fun meeting this week - I enjoy those a lot when they happen.
Coming home, Ron has supper done - Manwich - and we enjoy supper while watching TV. He had a movie in and we finished watching that, then it was dead guys.
Wednesday
Happy Homemaker Day. Whippy Dippy Doo! Dishes and laundry and other little chores. Such a fun time - as always - not. Oh, how I hate housework.
The dishes seem to take me forever and I don't know why.
I had my chicken salad and walnuts for my lunch, which I had around 2:30, knowing that I was not going to have much of a supper.
When Ron got home - early, even! - he went out to work on lawnmowers and piddle around out in the garage and I made him some fried green tomatoes for his supper. I cooked first three tomatoes in cornmeal and the last two without. He preferred the plain ones, too. Crazy man! I wish he'd make up his mind. The last time I made them, he told me that he wanted me to make them 'some different way, not just plain.' I made myself my poor man's shit on a shingle (tuna in potato soup) and that was that. We each enjoyed an ice cream bar for dessert.
Tomorrow I have a doctor's appointment. He's got to fill out that paper for the DMV so I can keep my driver's license. Sigh.
