What a week!
Here was my plan: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: go out and get donations for the Pig Roast. Tuesday and Thursday: stay home and play Happy Homemaker.
Yes, that was my plan. You know what they say...
I made arrangements with my friend Bert to take me around on Monday (just down 125), because Ron had to drive his truck that first day back after vacation. He took not only our garbage, but all of his stuff to put back in his truck that he needs day-to-day. With my car not having AC, it would be a bit rough (I'm a wussy, remember) doing the in and out, stop and go that getting donations requires. So that day went fine, and I got a few donations, and Teresa came and joined us for lunch at Olive Garden, too! We had a grand time! I left more letters at more places on the way home, but by then, managers had already left, and I didn't get good results.
Tuesday was my Happy Homemaker Day, as planned. During the day, I made another phone call to Verizon about my computer not working correctly, and finally - finally! - they said they would send me a new piece (the jetpack) since it was still under warranty. Since I couldn't get on my computer, she said it would be sent overnight, and all I'd have to do would be to take the SIM card out of the old one and put in the new one, and all would be fine. (I laughed to myself). I was SO glad that they were not having me "try" something else...
When I went to TOPS that night, I was very pleased to find that vacation hadn't ruined my weight-loss journey. I actually lost weight - a little over a pound and a half! 1.6 to be exact! <happy dance>
Wednesday went as planned, also, with Ron leaving his truck for me - yay, AC! - and I went over to Eastgate to get donations, having my almost perfect salad at Longhorn while asking for a donation there.
Bert and I were going to go to Kroger to use her fuel points for the month, but she didn't feel like going out today, though, so we had to put it off another day - which means I have to change my plans for tomorrow. Another trip down the road is now in the works.
When I got home, there was NOT a package on the doorstep, and no FedEx van/truck ever pulled in the driveway the rest of the day. So much for overnight...
Thursday. What a day Thursday has turned out to be! Not only was there the trip back down 125 that I didn't want to make, we find out that Rumpke has messed up Ron's vacation check once again. Every year they do this - why can't they pay the man correctly? We had to futz with them - a zillion phone calls, explaining the same crap over and over - and try to figure out just what the hell to do now. Luckily, it all got figured out, but what a mess!!
While this was going on, I was also meeting Bert and getting gasoline in Ron's truck for next week and then getting donations on the way home. And, when I got home, I DO have a package on the doorstep!! Hooray!!
I do what I am supposed to do - take the SIM card from the old jetpack and place it in the new one. Does it work, just like that? Hell, no. I end up calling Verizon again and spending over an hour on the phone with them before they figured out how to make it work. (Only me, right?) But, finally, it works and I can get on the computer again! I had fun doing all the things that I can only do on the computer and not on the tablet before going out and making Ron and I a good supper tonight. We have been having nice big salads for our suppers, but we've used up the veggies for this week, and I decided to make us little steaks with green beans. I also added mushrooms and onions to both. It was very good!
Once again, I'm going down 125 tomorrow - this time to do my shopping. I was going to stay home and play Happy Homemaker, but weekend plans have changed, so I'll do that on Saturday while the guys are working outside. Change of Plans - aren't they great!?

Apologies - more computer issues and real life happened...

My computer has been giving me fits. I finally got the problem fixed, and now, it just freezes up every now and then - I never know when (of course) and I have to futz and futz with the mouse until it finally moves again. What A Pain!!
So, I'm not getting on the pute every day again -- and I sure miss writing my blog!
I have not been good these two weeks, especially this past week while Ron was on vacation. We quite enjoyed ourselves - in the food department!! - and didn't deny ourselves what we wanted or where we wanted.
My weigh-in at TOPS on the 14th was good - I lost 2.4 pounds that week - but my weigh-in this past week showed the result of my slovenness - I gained 1.4 pounds - and I'm sure next week will show a gain, also. You gotta pay the piper after you dance, you know. Blah!
Ron's vacation week was a very good week, though.
We started with having our Father's Day cookout on Saturday night. Ron and Corgan got the yard all ready while I did stuff in the house, making the Corn Salad that was the only dish I was making. When they all showed up with all the rest of everything, Ron started the grill and cooked the burgers and cheese weenies. Then he brought out the surprise of the evening - he had made ribs!
We spent an enjoyable evening together after the meal, playing some cards and then lighting a fire when it got dark enough.
On Sunday, Josh surprised Ron by wanting to come up and go fishing. So - they came up for the second day in a row. Jean didn't come with them this time, and they went fishing while I stayed here. They brought back all the leftovers they had taken home the night before and when the time came, that was supper.
On Monday and Tuesday, Ron got to go fishing more, with friends this time, and he also worked out in his garage, too, doing all the little things he never has time to do.
Our plan for Wednesday and Thursday was: On Wednesday, we will drive up to Eaton, OH to visit his half-sister and her husband for the day, then drive on over to "Amishville" (Holmes County, etc.) for the day on Thursday, driving home that night. Wednesday went according to plan, and we spent the day up there, having lunch at a Golden Corral (in Richmond, IN!), driving around looking at interesting things and visiting Hueston Woods, ending up back at their house to look at each other's pictures of vacations over the last few years. We finally left there around 10pm, and found a motel for the night. When we got up, we decided not to drive for over seven hours (three plus across Ohio, then four plus home) to spend four hours in Amishville, so we hit I75 South and eventually stopped at the casino (Miami Valley Gaming) at exit 29. As we usually do, we only got to stay in the casino a little over an hour - it doesn't take long for us to lose the little bit of money we take in with us!
Then we drove on toward home, stopping wherever we wanted to whenever we wanted to. We really had the whole day since we hadn't planned on being home until 9 or 10pm anyway. We looked into going to a movie, too, but nothing was showing that we wanted to see at the time we were there, so that was out. On to the next endeavor!
There had been terrible storms that morning across the area, and there were supposed to be more moving through this evening, so we decided to go ahead and head for home before any such storm started. And that was the end of the big getaway.
On Friday, we met our friends for lunch before Ron went up to get his check (and where he found out just how bad they had messed things up this week) and then Friday evening, we had Jean's birthday celebration. She turned 50 this year, but didn't want a big fuss made. We went down to Hibachi, then decided to come back here for hanging out around a fire. I got the big idea to stop at Save-A-Lot for ice cream on the way home, and when we did that, Ron's truck wouldn't start!! What? After all the vacation driving and driving down to Hibachi? We were so blessed that it happened right here in Bethel, if it had to happen at all! I called Josh and he stopped and tried to give it a jump, but that didn't work. Jean had driven on out here, and when we got here, Ron decided to take the battery out of Jean's truck since it was a side post battery and take it back up and see if that would start his truck. If it wouldn't, that meant it was the starter and not the battery.
Luckily, not too long later, both Josh's car and Ron's truck came pulling in the driveway! Whew!
So, now, on Saturday, one more errand to run was to stop and buy a new battery for Ron's truck. We just added it to the list of things to do on the way home from the 50th anniversary party we were going to down at Carrabba's.
The battery cost more than Ron thought it would - but, then again, he thinks things cost what they did back in the '70s - but it was okay, this was the best week for this to happen. I can do without AC in my car for a little while longer....sigh.
After all the errands on the way home, we just holed up here in the cool house for the rest of the day.
Today, Sunday, it was church and lunch, as usual. We didn't even go very far for lunch, either - we went to Gold Star! Then it was home to stay in the house all day again - it is so very hot outside already this year. And I am a wussy now.
Tomorrow I am starting my little job of going down the road and getting donations for baskets for a fundraiser for church. While I am glad to be helpful - and useful - I wonder sometimes why I am the only one who does this job. It doesn't take much to go into these places and ask a question. Oh, well - I'm glad to be known as being good at something!

Computer issues are a bite! Catching up now...

Saturday, June 11, 2016
Between these computer issues and me being my normal lazy self, these last couple of weeks have flown by!
Hopefully, though, I have gotten the computer issues straightened out (for now, anyway) and I can catch up on my blog. I can't remember each and every one of my boring days, but I can give you highlights ---
When I last left off, I was getting up early for the second day in a row, and YES, I succeeded in doing so. I did the errand that needed done in the truck, even though I was just basically a driver. I did do a little lifting and carrying, but not much. I do know my limits. I am glad to help out where I am able to...
Memorial Day weekend - what a weekend this was! Ron and I went out to lunch with Bert and Teresa on Saturday. Yeah, us "four girls," but Ron just doesn't how to sit and enjoy lunches like we do. We went to Golden Corral and he was ready to leave after we'd only been there for an hour! Silly man! We had to teach him a thing or two....
Then, on Sunday, after church, instead of going out to eat, we and other friends all went to Harry and Donna's house for a get-together. They had BBQ, brats and metts and we all brought side dishes and desserts, so we had a little cookout inside - it was too hot to have it outside! We spent the afternoon and early evening playing dominoes, which was a lot of fun with a dozen people playing, let me tell you! After heating things back up for our supper, we finished the game, then everyone went home and that was that.
Ron did have to work on Monday, the holiday, so we didn't have anything planned with the family. Josh texted later in the day, saying they decided to grill out, did we want to come? But since we had set our minds on not doing anything, we just stayed home. Ron didn't want to go carousing around - he was tired, even though he had gotten home much earlier than usual.
And the holiday was over, and the regular week began.
When I weighed in at TOPS on Tuesday, I lost almost half a pound, too! .4 to be exact, and I was glad to see that after the decadent weekend!
I spent the week working up at church getting ready for the Rummage Sale - I didn't push myself, but I was up there every day, and I emptied tons of bags of clothes and put them where they needed to be. Walk...walk...walk...walk...walk...walk. Thank God for my Australian Dream cream and Aleve! Thursday night was spent making and baking for the bake sale table, because I had to have stuff done "in the morning" and couldn't put it off any longer. Man, did my house smell good!!
Friday is the day of the Rummage Sale. I have other plans, then shopping the Sale, then working the Sale. Friday will be a long day.
Friday morning - a sisters and cousins lunch day!! Ruth, Jean, Veronica, and I were to meet here in Bethel, at Frisch's for our lunch, mainly for two reasons. One, Ruth wanted the breakfast bar and two, they all wanted to go to the Rummage Sale afterward. Well, it ended up being sisters and cousins and more lunch! Chelle decided to come with Jean (actually the other way around because Chelle drove Jean's truck - haha) and Veronica brought her daughter and granddaughter! We were a great party of seven instead of three! We had a grand time eating - everyone had breakfast but me, I chose lunch (Buddie Boy and chili) - then it was time to hit the Rummage Sale. We kept going back and forth to each other, showing off our finds. It was great fun!
As each left, we made promises to do this again, as we always do. I stayed there to work for a while, but they had plenty of help, so I ended up going home around 2:00 with the promise to come back around 5:00, so the ladies who had been there all day could go home (the Rummage Sale wasn't closing until 7:00) and that is what I did.
We had Corgan again this weekend, too. It happened a little bit different this time, though, because he went to work with his dad that day and his dad dropped him off. Josh texted me when they were leaving his work, and I let him know that I was home and not up at church, so he brought him here. When it was time for me to go back up to church, I left Corgan here. He knows the rules, and both he and I knew that Grandpa would be getting home soon, too.
At 6:30, those two came up on the motorcycle and looked around the Rummage Sale and found a couple of things (I knew they would), even though both had turned their noses up at the idea. Once we got the Sale closed down and all monies gathered, the three of us went up to Gold Star for our supper. I called Bert and, since she was up in Bethel anyway, she came and joined us.
On Saturday, I went to a little get-together for the 40th reunion for the Class of '76. We didn't really call it a reunion, just a get-together lunch at Campbell's Barn. There were supposed to be 30-35 people there, and there ended up being only 14. How disappointing! But, it was their loss, the ones who were there had a fantastic time! Talking, telling stories, showing pictures, and everything - I had brought my yearbook and my memory book, which had the last edition of the school newspaper in it, with me, and I think everyone enjoyed looking through them. We were there for about three hours, then people started drifting out, on to other pursuits for the evening, as did I.
I took the items that were left from the bake sale up to church to sell when Mass was over. I had to be there before Mass started, so that I could ask that the announcement be made that I was out there with the baked goods. The last little bit of money made could make all the difference in the world, you know! Besides that, what else would we do with the goodies?
Anyway, I sold just about everything and at the end was giving people a very good deal for their money!! We did an excellent job at the bake sale table this time around!
I came home and the whole family is here. Ron has supper started, and there is card playing going on until supper is done, so I just join in. Then, finally, supper is done and we all enjoy the pork chops, buttered noodles, corn, and peas.
They left to go home because Chelle has to work in the morning, and poof the evening is over.
Back to 'normalcy.' Better be careful, saying that word...
Yep.
Tuesday, when I woke, I had vertigo again. Whoa! Wave after wave - I could barely move all day long without my head moving in a different direction from my body. It was AWFUL!!
When Ron got home, we discussed whether or not I should go to TOPS. We finally decided that he would drive me to go weigh in and I would not stay for the meeting, and that's what we did. I swayed my way through my shower and getting dressed, and he drove me uptown. When I weighed in, I wished I had just stayed home - I gained this week! Only .6 of a pound, but still a gain. Phooey! Then we came back home, and that was that.
Wednesday and Thursday were more of the same, with the vertigo seeming to be better - it was still there, just not huge waves. Now it was more predictable, if I moved too fast or took a step backward, things like that. Still very weird that it has hung on so long, but it has, so I am dealing with it.
Ron doesn't want me to drive, so on Thursday night, I call Bert and ask her to chauffeur me around on Friday if she isn't doing anything and she said she will, because she has errands, too.
Friday is spent running errands and having lunch with Bert and Teresa. We went to Bob Evans and I had the wonderful Chicken Salad Plate, whcich is a plate of fruit with a blop of chicken salad (real chicken salad) in the center of it - and then pecans sprinkled on top of it all. Serious YUM!! I wish they had this all year....I could eat real healthy all year with NO problem!
I felt so much better, just knowing that I got things accomplished. What a weight off my shoulders!
Today, Saturday, Ron and I finished the errands that I didn't get done yesterday. He drove me over to Felicity, and we had lunch at the FeedMill - and, yes, both of us were bad. We both had sandwiches and fries. Then we went to IGA, did a spot of shopping, but they didn't have our ice cream!! How dare they!! Now what? Ai yi yi!
He's been outside mowing and weedeating all day - crazy man.
We did put the AC in the bedroom window, too, and the house is nice and cool now.
Oh - the best news of all this week?? I got a letter from Social Security - my hearing is scheduled!
August 3rd at 2pm. I am so relieved.
Praise be. \o/

Praise be. \o/
