It's gonna rain again...my back says so!

Thursday, April 30, 2015

When I woke up this morning, I knew that the weatherman just might be right - rain is gonna move in.  My back is aching something fierce!  I guess I might as well get used to the fact that there will be more days like this than not.  Phooey!

After doing my normal tableting and reading, I finally got up a little after noon.  I went out into the laundry room and got a load of towels started.  I stood in the kitchen looking at the dishes that needed done, but then decided to go over to Felicity to hang the flyers for our Plant Auction. I figured I could get some lunch while over there, too, since I knew that Ron wouldn't want to go over tonight for supper, and I might as well do this now.  So I did.
I went to FeedMill for my lunch.  I thought hard about being good, but I succumbed to the french fries - steak fries, even - and had a ham & cheese hoagy with the fries.  Afterward, I hung the flyer, then went over to IGA, where I got us pork chops and fixings to cook in the crockpot for our supper and hung a flyer there, too.
Then I came back home and got to work.  Towels into the dryer, dishes, cleaned the bathtub (I can't do too much twisting and turning to deep clean the bathroom yet), a load of regular clothes into the washer, folded the towels when they were dry and got them put away.
When Ron texted me that he was on his way home, I had to tell him that I wasn't walking.  I was still doing dishes (pans) when he got home, but, luckily, was finishing up.

He sat in his recliner and dozed off, then woke up and asked if we should watch Starsky and Hutch.  I laughed at him and told him that no, dead guys was good enough since he was already falling asleep.  So he fell back asleep.  Silly man!
At 7:00, I woke him up so that we could eat our supper before it got too late.  I zapped him some pinto beans to go with his pork chops, but I just had veggies with mine.  We watched dead guys while eating, then I turned Bones on, then it was back to dead guys.

Just so everyone knows - it never did rain here.  Not one drop.  Maybe it will overnight...we shall see.

I put all my food in myfitnesspal.com (I had to claim 1.5 Buddie Boys from Frisch's (it was a big sandwich!) and an order of steak fries from Cracker Barrel.  Ha!) and, according to them, I had just under 1500 calories today.  I thought that was a great number!  It could have been so much worse, trust me.

I do need to start doing all of my exercises every day, even the laying-on-the-floor ones, as well as playing on the Wii a little more often.  I've got to get myself back on a much better track.  If this Biggest Loser contest is going to be my last one, I want it to be my BEST one!

Getting my exercise in today!

Wednesday, April 29, 2015

I woke this morning, and did my normal tableting and reading, then finally got up, as I usually do.  And I'm glad that I can do!
I piddled around a little, not really settling on doing any one thing (dishes, laundry...) and, since I knew the job needed done, I decided to chuck it all and go uptown to get some lunch and then put up flyers around town about the Plant Auction coming up next Saturday up at church.  So, that's what I did.  I went and got dressed, and uptown I went.  I decided to go to Gold Star, since it's on the extreme end of town (although I could have gone down to Bishop's Hardware, but I didn't - I'll catch it the next time I venture farther down the road) and start there, going down one side of the street and coming back up the other.
I had the GoRito with no chipotle ranch and an order of chili cheese fries for my lunch, then I asked them about hanging a flyer, which they said they would.  Then the fun started (NOT!).  In and out of the car, drive, in and out of the car, drive, etc., etc. Ugh.  Actually, it should be out and in the car, but...
So, as you run errands through Bethel, you should be seeing our little signs (well, big signs - they are 8x10 papers) in various stores!  They've got a watering can on them, so they'll be easy to identify!
Up the south side of the street I went, turned and went to the post office, and then back to 125 aka Plane Street to go down the north side.  I ended at the Sunoco across from Gold Star, and I figured it as a job well done.  I didn't go to McDonald's, Wendy's, or Arby's, because I didn't ever remember seeing a bulletin board or community events 'advertised' there, but I hit just about every other business in town, I think.  Some couldn't, or wouldn't, hang the flyers, and some took them, saying they had to ask managers or owners, so we'll see.

I got back home, got the back door opened up and flopped into my recliner and started to check my games on my tablet and I got my "on my way home" text from Ron.  What!?  It's just after 4!  Jiminy!  I quickly put my shoes on and walked out to meet him.  I couldn't believe he was getting home already - that's kinda amazing for this time of year!  Makes me worry about the weekend.  I did make it almost all the way to curves before meeting him, too, which made me happy because he had caught me so off guard.
We got back home, and he started playing with the lawnmowers and all outside, while I went back in the house and did my collapsing in my recliner, and I stayed there for a bit.  Josh stopped by to pick up his Mario/Luigi/Olimar/StinkyLinky figurines that I got yesterday and we talked for a bit, and I walked outside with him when he left, and then I wandered around looking at the yard.  It's looking pretty nice this year!

Ron didn't come in til almost 8:00, the crazy man.  I had cooked some cheese weenies for our supper, but since he hadn't come in, they were just sitting on the stove.  When he finally got in, we ate those cheese weenies and the rest of the veggies we've been eating all week - Ron putting his in a salad, me just putting the veggies on a plate.
We watched an episode of dead guys, then I turned on Criminal Minds, then it was back to dead guys.  And that was our night.

Nothing tomorrow - just get the house ready for the weekend.  Whee!

Well, well, well.....

4/27
A pretty normal Monday here - once I got up, I played Happy Homemaker and got all the dishes from the weekend done.  I took my time, taking breaks as dishes soaked, and I finally got them finished (all but a few pans).  Since I already knew that we were going to have salads for supper, I went ahead and chopped the veggies so they would be ready when the time came, and it was a good thing I did, cause Ron didn't come home until late - almost 7 - and we needed to get supper together pretty quickly then.  Even though it's just salads, we don't want to be eating too late at night.
We watched Starsky and Hutch while eating, and he fell asleep during the second one we watched.

Doctor appointment tomorrow, so I have to get up early!  Ugh.

4/28
I got up around 6-6:30 to go to the bathroom, and as I got up, I almost - damn near! - fell back onto the bed.  My right foot would NOT take any pressure upon it!  I didn't know what was happening, but gimped to the bathroom (some things won't wait...) and back, and went back to sleep.
My alarm went off at 8;00 this morning - double and triple ugh!  But, after hitting snooze a couple of times, I got up, got my shower, got dried, dressed, and out the door before 9:00.  My right foot?  It still won't let me step on/with it, so I have to gimp through this all.  What a lot of fun - not!  "Good thing I'm on my way to the doctor's," was my thought.
My friend Bert was going with me today, so I stopped to pick her up, then on down the road we went.  I got over to the doctor's office, where I had to fill out their silly papers again - that's one of those things that happen once a year - and then get called back.

The doctor visit was a good visit.  I had a whole list of different concerns to talk to him about, and we went down my list and discussed everything.
1) HbA1c - my sugar over the last three months (the reason for my visit today - I go every three months for evaluation).  In January, this number was 7.8, and I expected it to be right around there this time, too, because of Easter and all.
But - Ta Da! - it was 7.0!!  I even impressed myself with that!
2)  How low is TOO low for blood pressure?
My blood pressure today was 118/78, which is an excellent number.  But, when I went to the neurologist last month, it was 98/62, which the nurse declared, "nice and low" in a very happy voice, but which kinda freaked me out.  Doc says if the systolic number is below 100, and stays there, it needs to be looked into.
3) The bruise that is still visible on my leg, from my fall - which will be one year ago next Monday - which has started to worry me.  I've been thinking, "damn, that must be a deep bruise!"  Doc says that it's not a bruise, it's a tattoo!  Evidently, I hit it SO hard that I burst blood vessels (and iron...and blah blah blah) so violently that they tattooed my skin!  How weird is that?
4) Ongoing nose/nosebleed issues - I am getting these nasty slimy oozy nosebleeds - they don't run out of my nose - and when they stop, they form giant clots.  When I get rid of the clots, they look like leeches!  I put up with them for a couple of days, then put Neosporin up my nose (with a Q-Tip) before bed and they go away for a little while, then they come back.  Doc says that when I had my Nosebleed Week from Hell and they cauterized my nose, that cauterization is probably getting weak and/or I am getting small infections (that's what your nose does), and I should just use the Neosporin a little more often - don't wait until it oozy nasty, do it every three or four days.  I was doing the right thing, just not often enough!  Yay, me!
5) Small red sores that I get.  I showed him one that I have on my upper arm.  He says these are sebaceous cysts (infected sweat glands) that are on the outside instead of under the skin.  Thank God! I have had two (or is it three?) on my back that needed removed, and that is not fun.  Not at all.
6) Small spots and swelling on my leg.  This one was easy!  A spot of eczema.  Whew!
7) Check my ears for wax build-up.  I have a bad problem with this, and he has to lavage my ears just about every visit.  Oh, how I hate that!  But - for two visits in a row now - I have had NO wax build-up!  None!  WhooHoo!
8) My right foot.  He didn't know at first.  This kinda flummoxed him.  He poked around on it (sending me straight up to the ceiling!) and asked me a bunch of questions, and finally said that he thought I might have gout - GOUT - on the distal bones.  Ye gads, getting old is a bitch!
He ordered x-rays for me to check it out, or rule it out, however you want to look at it.

I think that's it...

I went to get the x-ray and blood tests, which is in the next suite in the building, and get that all done. We finally got to leave, and Bert and I went to eat at Crackhead Barrel!  One of the best reasons to go to Milford!  I got the chicken-n-dumplings with green beans, hashbrown casserole, and the tomato, cucumber, and onion salad.  (I was very aware that I had to weigh in tonight!)  Bert got a breakfast - Grandpa's Breakfast - and we just sat there for a long, long time, enjoying the company and the food.  We had an excellent waitress - she was a lot of fun - and it was great!  When we left, we went through the store, of course.  They had a wonderful display of peacock stuff for Spring, too.  Oh, that stuff was soooooo pretty.  I could drop a pretty penny or two there, let me tell you!

We finally got back on the road.  I went back up to Eastgate the "back way" instead of taking the highway, since Bert had never gone that way.  She was surprised when we came out where we did, in Summerside, and really enjoyed the drive as opposed to whizzing up 275.
We stopped at our friend Teresa's because I had to pee and we had a nice little visit with her, but we didn't stay very long, because her niece and great niece (who she babysits) were there.  Then it was on to visit the Wals - Walgreen's first, then WalMart.  My glasses are still not in at WalMart.  They best not start thinking they are Bethel Vision - I will really get pissed!  But the lady told me that they have to re-make them, so something went wrong.  It's not just one excuse after another.

I dropped Bert off at her house, helped her carry in her things and carried the things she was giving me back out, and headed on home.  I was here probably about 20 minutes when Ron texted me that he was on his way home from work, so I got my gym shoes on and walked out to meet him.  I almost made it to the curves, too.  I was glad for that - I didn't think I'd get that far, because I had to take the time to put my shoes on and all.  That cuts into my walking time.

I went up to my TOPS meeting, even though I figured this evening would be a bust.  I still must show up...
I was right.  Bust.  According to their scale, I gained 2 pounds - exactly 2 pounds - since last week.  Phooey!  But I'm glad I went to the meeting.  The leader handed out awards for the past year, and I got two, one for losing 23 pounds over the last year, and one for being a "cheerleader," more or less - keeping spirits up, both mine and others'.  Then, instead of actually having a meeting, we had a tea party!  We had treats - blueberry biscuits (mini muffins) and fruit - and cups of tea, of which we had many varieties to choose from.  It was a very pleasant evening!

I got home, but Ron didn't have any supper ready.  He had decided to mow the grass while I was gone.  That man!
I warmed up the biscuits and gravy that I brought home from Crackhead Barrel, which I had along with some veggies, while he made himself a big ol' salad.  And that was supper, which we ate while watching NCIS and NCIS:NO.

And this exciting day has come to an end.  I think I may sleep good tonight.  Good thing there's nothing planned tomorrow!

Getting through another weekend...

Sunday, April 26, 2015

4/25
As planned, I got up and Corgan and I went over so I could do my final weigh-in for this go-round of the Biggest Loser contest.  (It's also the initial weigh-in for the next one, so I guess I'll do it one more time.  Just one more, then I'll have done it for three years, and I think maybe that's enough.)  As I expected, I had gained - weight, inches, everything - so this time was a bust.  Blah!
When I was finished, Corgan and I went to go eat, but he said that he didn't want to go to Crackhead Barrel.  What??  So we discussed where we wanted to go, seeing that we were in the Eastgate area and had plenty of choices and finally decided on Longhorn (Corgan wanted a steak), but they didn't open until 11:00, so we went to Meijer to kill the time until then.  He found the toy he wanted - a Minecraft something - as his "All A report card" reward.  Grandpa and Granny are nice like that!
We finally got to Longhorn, and, as we're pulling in, Corgan tells me that he changed his mind and doesn't want a steak now and let's go to Crackhead Barrel.  I told him "too bad," that I wasn't changing MY mind again and I'd already talked myself out of my chicken-n-dumplings and am now ready for my almost-perfect salad.  He's just gonna have to find himself something else to eat if he doesn't want steak.  So he did - he got himself some shrimp.

When we left Longhorn, it was pouring down the rain, and it didn't let up all the way, and we got drenched as we visited the Wals (Walgreen's and WalMart), stopped at IGA for a bag of ice, and at Family Dollar to see if they had the car charger that I forgot to look for at WalMart.  Blah!
We got home, got everything carried in, so now the "fun" part of the day started for Corgan - he gets to go play out in the garage with Grandpa!  First of all, he fixed, with Grandpa's supervision, the freezer door handle that he broke last weekend and didn't tell us. Then they started in on the lawn mower - Corgan's mower - the one that Grandpa blew the motor up on last week.  Time to put a new motor on it.  Whee....I went in and took a nap.

Josh and Chelle took a little weekend trip down to Gatlinburg - well, a one-day trip, really - and they texted when they were close to home, and I got up and started fixing supper.  Ron had woken me up earlier, but I was still laying in bed reading and tableting, waiting for my notification.
I made a meatloaf, my shrimp dish, buttered noodles, corn, and peas for our supper.  It was a late supper, but we were all hungry and a bit excited, and we made quite good inroads in the food.
They went on home, and Ron and I went on to bed.

4/26
Sunday.  Church and lunch.
And that's exactly what happened.
After church, we went to the Barn for our lunch.  Ron got his fried chicken, and I got a bacon cheeseburger and fries.  Then we went over to WalMart to get the car charger and the veggies for our salads for the week. I can't buy them any earlier or they'll go bad before we can eat them.  We are going to start taking this stuff seriously!

We got home.  He went out to work on the mowers some more, while I went to take a nap.  (Did I tell you that I did NOT sleep Friday night into Saturday morning?  Well, I didn't - just about 2-1/2 or 3 hours, and I am still trying to catch up. It's an awful feeling, that.)
He finally came in, we started watching Starsky and Hutch, and he fell asleep.  Surprise!  I let him sleep, and when he woke up, we made our suppers and rewatched the episode he just slept through.  He stayed awake this time!  We watched a second episode, even though he kept dozing off, but he said that he didn't like this one and didn't want to replay it.  He's funny.

A little after 10:00, he went to bed (after he woke up from a doze), and I finished watching a dead guy show, then moved here to the pute, and here I am.

Nothing planned for tomorrow.  I think I might do some Wii exercises, though.  Eating better alone isn't going to do much if exercise isn't added.  Ack!  That evil E word!

Getting back on the straight and narrow (kinda)

Thursday, April 23, 2015
Friday, April 254, 2015

4/23
I had to get up early today.  There was a funeral up at church that I, as a member not only of St. Mary's, but of St. Mary's Bereavement Committee, am attending.  There were more people there than we expected, but that falls in the category of 'pleasant surprise.'
After the funeral, since the family did not want a luncheon, my friend Beverly and I went up to Frisch's for a bite of lunch.  Since I figured this would be my big meal today, I had a pork tenderloin sandwich (with extra tomato) and french fries.  We sat there for quite a while, just talking and enjoying our meals.  We sat there for so long that I succumbed to temptation and got myself a strawberry piebaby!
I finally got home around 2:30, and, instead of doing the dishes or anything like that, I collapsed into my recliner.  What a wuss I am!  I do finally get up and get myself ready to walk when Ron texts, and he does so just as I get finished, so I scoot on out the door and start walking.  I actually make it to the curves, which I didn't think I'd do, since he didn't text until he was on 774 - silly man.

We got back home and that was just about it for the day.  We talked about supper, then both got into our recliners, and he decided that we should watch Starsky and Hutch.  Yep - for about 3 minutes.  I turned off the DVD and let him sleep, which he did for about 20 minutes, then woke up and went and made a bunch of noise out in the kitchen.  Next thing I knew, he was sticking a bowl of chicken noodle soup in front of me!  I think I'll keep him.  We then really watched Starsky and Hutch while eating our suppers - I don't know what he had made for himself, but he had something.

He eventually fell back asleep, and at 8:00, I turned Bones on.  After that, it was time for more dead guys.

Nothing planned for tomorrow - I should get the house ready for the weekend, but we'll see how I feel.

4/24
Oh, my!!  I do believe it's gonna rain (or something!) again!  My back is killing me this morning!
I woke up before 8 this morning, read a little bit, then finally let myself go back to sleep.  Ron texted me to see if I was up yet at 12:30 because he was worried that he hadn't heard from me yet.  Well, okay, Ron, I guess I'm up now!  Ha!  I just stayed in bed reading and tableting because I sure didn't feel like getting up.
I finally got up around 3:00 but I only moved into my recliner.  I ate two slices of Colby Jack cheese for my lunch and didn't really do a darn thing all afternoon.  When Ron texted me, I replied that I wasn't walking today.
When he and Corgan got here, they opened up the house (opened the back door so air would come through) and griped at me that it was hot in here.  Normal stuff.

We decided to go outside and sit by a fire and have "supper" out there, and that's what we did - roasted cheese weenies and marshmallows over the fire for our supper.   We had to make Corgan eat his, because he kept telling us that he "wasn't hungry."  But we became mean grandparents and made him roast his weenie. (teehee)
We came back in the house around 9 and Corgan took over the TV - big surprise, right - and Ron did his thing in his recliner and here I am.

Yay.

Final weigh-in for my Biggest Loser contest tomorrow.  Ron has to work, so Corgan and I will go to Crackhead Barrel for some chicken-n-dumplings afterward.  YUM!  Then we'll be visiting the Wals (Walgreen's and WalMart) on the way home, and after that, we'll have to see what the day holds.

A long, slow, boring day

Wednesday, April 22, 2015

I did my normal wake up, lay in bed tableting and reading for a while, then get up to piddle around doing as little housework as I could, then spent the rest of the day in my recliner.  I did do a load of regular clothes, and put away the dishes in the dishdrainer, but that was about it.
I had my chicken salad with a serving of walnuts for my lunch - it's about time I start being good!
It was windy, windy, windy today - all day long.  I was so glad that I wasn't out in it, and I thought long and hard about walking out to meet Ron.  But since I didn't do any exercises today, I thought that I had better.
So, at 5:00, I went into the bedroom to get dressed to go out into that wind, and - lo and behold! - my cell phone went off!  Ron was texting me - do I have good timing or what?  I really didn't expect him this early, but I didn't want to be caught off-guard like I was the other day.  So, I got out of the house pretty quickly and I actually got all the way to our half mile mark before meeting him!  Of course, I think the wind PUSHED me most of the way there - I sure don't walk that fast! But, whatever works - I'll take it!

When we got back home, we decided to have salads for supper, since we have a lot of salad stuff left and don't want it to go bad.  We are getting back into the swing of this salad-for-supper thing again!  He fell asleep for a little while, so I let him sleep until 7:00, then we needed to eat supper before it got too late, so I started making the salads up (making a lot of noise in the process) and woke him up.  We watched dead guys while eating, then I watched Criminal Minds, while Ron complained about not being able to sleep tonight during every commercial.  He is such a wuss!  But he's MY wuss...

I also received a text during the evening, and we have a new Wilkerson baby - Traci has had Smudge, and Smudge is a girl!  Carli Marie Essen - 7 lbs, 11 oz., and 20 inches long.  Congratulations to Brian and Traci!!  (In case you can't keep the Wilkersons straight, Traci is Sandi's daughter, and Sandi is Teresa's oldest sister.)

As a member of the Bereavement Committee, I have to attend a funeral up at church tomorrow, which is really not a hardship.  After that, I have no real plans - we'll have to see what happens.  I'll be up and dressed, so bring it on!

Tuesday, April 21, 2015

Well.....I am stumped. Don't know what to do.

Tuesday, April 21, 2015

When I woke up this morning, I thought long and hard about getting up - I just didn't want to.  After lying there, tableting and reading for a couple of hours, I finally talked myself into getting up because I had TONS of housework to do today.  I didn't get to do it yesterday, when I generally do my after-the-weekend cleanup, because of my stupidity on Friday, so I had to do it today.  Ugh and double ugh.
But I got up and I got to work on it all.  I put a load of towels in, and then got started on the dishes.  What a job that was!  I stopped once to eat my lunch, which today was a banana and the last Reese's Egg, then got right back into it.  When Ron texted me that he was on his way home, I was still doing dishes!  The last of the pans by then, but still dishes.  Well into the second sink full of hot water, and probably the third dishdrainer full of dishes, but still doing dishes.
I also scrubbed down all the counters (as opposed to just washing or wiping them) and I also really scrubbed the stove and put new burner liners - I guess that's what you call them - under the burners.  I don't do that job near often enough, and when I do, it's a rough and tough job.

I took my shower a little late - after six - and left for my TOPS meeting right on time.  I felt good about my weigh-in tonight, since I had lost weight Saturday morning, and Ron and I have been eating a bit better, and have even started back eating salads for supper.  I knew for a fact that I hadn't eaten many calories today!  But, alas, when I weighed in, I found that I have gained a pound!  Exactly one pound.  I'm not sure what the hell is going on now!  I guess that I can only hope that I will see a better result next week.  I am at my wit's end.
With my Biggest Loser contest ending this go-round this weekend, which I know that I don't have a snowball's chance of 'winning' - anything! - but I can certainly hope to do better in the next go-round, which also starts this weekend.  One ends and the next begins, that's how it goes.  If you'd like to know about joining us, let me know - I'll get you the info!  It's easy - you must weigh in with them to begin, then weigh yourself every Saturday morning and send them your weight, then weigh in with them to end.  Voila!  It costs $20.00 to join, and you could possibly win one of three categories - most weight lost, most inches lost, or most percentage lost.  The prize is 1/3 of all monies collected.

When I got home from my meeting, Ron had supper done.  He had cleaned out the fridge - we had cheese weenies, spaghetti, beans, and BBQ chicken.  He had mixed the beans and the chicken together, and that's what he had.  I had the cheese weenies and spaghetti.  An interesting supper, to say the least.  We ate while watching NCIS and NCIS:NO, which were both reruns.  Blah!  Then it was time for dead guys, and he went to bed.

Also - BIG NEWS - the Bengals schedule came out today!!  The Kansas City Chiefs will come here in early October, so I'm hoping that my brother John will be able to come in for a visit and the game, and the Bengals will be playing in Buffalo (against the Buffalo Bills) in mid-October, so maybe, just maybe, Ron and I will finally manage a trip to Niagara Falls to visit my brother Chip and catch that game.  We'll have to see how all the money works out - that's what is gonna hold everything up.  I wish that the two games hadn't been so close to each other, but that's the way the ball bounces - especially if it's a football!

Rain, no rain, rain, rain....

Monday, April 20, 2015

Although it's been the whole weekend since I've written my blog, not that much has happened.  It's really just been day after rainy day - with a mostly sunny Saturday! - and my pute "grew" a poltergeist or something the one night I did get on to do what needed to be done.  It jumped from one page to another, and wouldn't load other pages.  It was strange, so I gave up.

4/17
I went down the road, got gasoline, then had my meal at Bob Evans before doing my grocery shopping, and forgot all about going to Walgreen's for my prescription, which I should have done first.  Off to a great start...

Got back home, got everything carried in, and then Ron texted me that they was on their way home.  Of course!  I didn't walk out to meet them since it was raining, but since I got my WalMart Walk in today, I thought I did okay in the exercise department.
Corgan and I had a little spat not long after they got here, which is not uncommon, and we didn't have too much to do with each other the rest of the night - until I went outside and built a fire in the firepit, then Corgan decided to come out and join me.  All was okay then!  Kids...
We had a good time sitting outside and enjoying the fire.  Ron slept through it all, poor guy.

4/18
Ron and Corgan got up and started working on the lawn mower, as planned.  I got up, did my Wii weigh-in (I lost another half pound! Yay!), got fancied up and went up to church for a funeral luncheon, as planned.  But when I got up there, there were plenty of other workers, so I came back home.  There wasn't anything planned for the day, since we both had those other things going on, so it was a rather unexpected thing.  Once Josh texted and asked if we wanted to go to Chilo Park for supper tonight, though, it became a different story.  For me, anyway - Ron just kept working on the lawn mower, which he got fixed!  Yay!
I had to assess what food we had that could be taken on a picnic supper and then make up to take on said picnic supper.  I had bought a few - not many - veggies, so that Ron and I could start having veggies for snacks, and I decided to clean and chop them to take, which I did.  That was about all I could come up with here at home, but Ron stopped and got some munchies, too, so we had a decent donation to supper.
I got down to Chilo Park first - Ron and Corgan were on the motorcycle - and as I was unloading the bin, I made a misstep and wrenched my back.  I didn't think too much of it at the time, it was just a "oooh" and go on type of thing.  We talked about walking, but decided not to - Chelle is fighting an earache and wasn't really feeling well, and Ron and I just didn't want to - and when I went to get up from the picnic table, my back let me know all about that little misstep!  Instead of "oooh," now it was "OOOOOOOHH!!"  I came back home, settled into my recliner, and stayed there for a few hours.  I did try to get on the pute but that was the night it was possessed and I didn't stay on very long.

4/19
Sunday.  Church and lunch.  Nice easy day, right?  Nope, not today!  Today after church, for our lunch, we are going to our friends' house for lunch, which means not just lunch, but lunch and visiting and playing dominoes - hours of fun!  A good way to spend a rainy Spring day.
Ron and I go to the store and get our 'donation' to the afternoon - a bag of ice and a couple (okay, four) bags of munchies - and head on over.  I meant to take some drugs (ALEVE, people) on the way, but I forgot, so I had to take some later on during the afternoon because my back still wasn't happy with me.  Oh, it was. not. happy. with me at all.
The afternoon went as we expected, and we had a very nice time and didn't get home until around 7:00, and, yes, it made for a very long day.  Ron and I both fell asleep in front of the TV!  I was lying on the floor in the living room, just because that felt better on my back.  It kinda scared Ron when he woke up and I was on the floor, but I thought he had seen me getting onto the floor - it wasn't exactly a small endeavor - but I guess not.  He woke me up shaking my shoulder, and then I couldn't get back to sleep after he went on to bed.

4/20
Today I have to run back to Walgreen's for the prescription that I forgot to pick up on Friday - I took the last of the one I have now, so no more putting it off.  Blah.  I don't wanna!  I don't wanna drive down 125!  Especially not in the rain...
I call my friend Bert to see if she'd like to go with me (and we can have a nice long lunch together), but she is on the phone with our friend Teresa, plus her house is like Grand Central Station with all the goings-on with her sister and the happenings with the settling of her house catastrophe, so she declines.  I stop at Gold Star to have my lunch, and sit there reading for a long time before finally driving down 125.
I went to Walgreen's and got my prescription, then headed for home.  Well, lo and behold, don't you know - now I have to make a pit stop!  I stop at WalMart, and while there, go ahead and get the makings for salads so that Ron and I can start eating big ol' salads for our suppers.  We have to get back on track somehow!
I stopped at Bert's on my way home, and that's where I was (still) when Ron texted that he was on his way home.  He beat me home.  He was glad to see the salad makings, too - he's the one that's been saying we've got to start eating salads again.  I think I like food too much!  I know that I need to, but - food is just too good.

We watched Starsky and Hutch while eating supper, then turned on dead guys, and that was our night.

Nothing planned for tomorrow - just playing Happy Homemaker.  Whee!

Ending up scary...

4/15
Today was really a quite boring day, which was a good thing, I suppose.  My back was still aching like all get-out, so the rain is still coming in, but I really shouldn't let that be an excuse.  I should work through it, but it's just another I-don't-want-to-participate-in-life day.  I did make myself eat decently today.  I had a bowl - guaranteed, it was a big bowl - of cereal, but it was Basic 4 cereal, which is one of the best cereals out there.  I even measured both the cereal and the milk, so it was a double serving, not just "some" in a big bowl.
After that, I just stayed mostly in my recliner and didn't do much of anything, although I did do a load of towels, but once they were in the dryer, that was it.
Ron called me at 4:30 to tell me that he was being sent back out, and he would be very late getting home.  Oh, how I hate when they do that!  Don't they realize that the drivers want to go home at the end of the workday, also?  But, noooooo....back out he goes.  That's okay, I guess.  That means he won't have any time left to work on Saturday!  Ha!

After he called and I had a few minutes to calm down, I decided to make a pot of spaghetti for supper, because it would be good no matter what time he got home, and that is what I did.
When he got home, he was glad supper was ready.  He ate his supper, then promptly fell asleep and that was that for the night.

4/16
I didn't have any plans for today, but when Ron called to say he was going through Bethel, and if I wanted to, I could come meet him uptown, get his paycheck and do the banking, I took advantage of it!  I got up, got ready, and went to meet him.
After sitting and talking to him during the rest of his lunchtime, he went on, and I went to the bank, then to Gold Star for some lunch, then on down the road to do some errands.
I got back home, and then spent the rest of the afternoon in my recliner.  I wish this rain would hurry up and pass!
At 5:00, I thought I probably should put my gym shoes on and be ready when Ron texted that he was on his way home, but talked myself out of it - I can wait until 5:30, I thought.  Well, as these things go, Ron texted me between 10 and 15 after!  Of course!  So I quickly got my shoes on and took off walking to go out and meet Ron.  I even made it out to the curves - around the first curve - before meeting him.  I was kinda proud of myself!
We got back home and we both collapsed into our recliners.  Ron decided he wanted the spaghetti heated up for his supper, so I did that while he took his shower, but that was it for activity for the evening.  God, we are old boring people!

The Felicity fire trucks started going by like crazy, and one of my friends posted on Facebook, "What was that?" and then a few minutes later, "A house exploded on Spring Street!" and the scary part of the evening started.  I quickly called my friend Bert, whose sister lives on Spring Street, and I wanted to make sure it wasn't her.  Bert was busy, but I explained the situation to her mom, and she had to call Sue and would call me back.  She did call back in a few minutes, and it IS Sue's house!  Oh, my!  Luckily, Sue was not at home, but at her daughter's, which was a good thing, but still...
All throughout the evening, I kept an eye on Facebook and the news and any new information that was coming out from this.  Nothing new was really being said, though.  It was, and is, all speculation.

I watched Bones, then turned on dead guys, and now here I am.

Tomorrow I get to run back down the road and do my weekly shopping.  Whee!

Getting the week underway...

4/13
I had to get up and get myself ready today, because I had to go up to Rumpke for their Health Fair, or whatever you want to call it.  If Ron and I don't "do" this Health Fair thing, they will take $10.00 a week - A WEEK - out of his check, just because we didn't do it.  They get you coming and going, ya know...
Luckily, it didn't start until noon, so I didn't really have to change my day around too very much, but it was still a pain in the ass to have to do it.  I didn't want to be in the mad rush at the very beginning, so I left here at 12:30, to get there close to 1:00.  My planning worked out great, and I also met my sister-in-law up there, as she was there to do hers, also.  And, as we were walking in, Ron pulled in, so he was there to do his at the same time, too.  That was pretty cool.

When we were all done, Beth and I went up to Country Inn to get a bite of lunch.  She got a big ol' salad and onion rings, but I was bad and got the double decker BLT and steak fries.  I figured that I could level it out with chicken noodle soup for supper, but I ended up being full the rest of the day and didn't even eat any supper!  Then she surprised me and picked up the bill, too!  I was going to get it because I had asked her, and I was sure that she hadn't planned on stopping for lunch - she had already worked in the morning, just as she does every morning, and was ready to go take a nap before her afternoon work.  That was a very nice surprise!

I got back home, just in time for Laura to come over and do Wii exercises and games for a couple of hours.  We take turns choosing what exercises we are going to do next - whoever gets the better score gets to choose the next one - and we have a lot of fun while getting in a bit of exercise.  After doing the exercising, we played games of bowling, frisbee, and swordplay.  She had to leave to go help her parents mow, or she would have stayed and walked with me to meet Ron.
As it was, though, Ron stopped to have Harry look at his mower (the Zero Turn) and that turned into a much bigger job than they thought, and he didn't get home until after 7:30.  It had also started pouring down the rain in Hamersville, and he laid his cell phone down on the truck somewhere, so - yes! - it got wet, and wasn't working correctly when he got home.  Then he also discovered that, since he had left the truck window down, his work cell phone in his work bag inside the truck had gotten wet also.  He wasn't that worried about that one, because he could just get another one at work, but we had to put his into a bowl of rice for overnight - and all I had was Rice-A-Roni!  Yeah, I need to get in the 21st century, too!
He had some of the chicken leftovers from the fridge for his supper, and I didn't eat anything.  We just watched dead guys until I turned on NCIS:LA.

Nothing planned for tomorrow.

4/14
I knew as soon as I woke up this morning that I didn't want to participate in life today.  I'm not sure why, I just didn't.
I ended up staying there in bed, tableting and reading, until almost 2:00, then I made myself get up.  Since I didn't get to play Happy Homemaker yesterday, I had to do it today.  So, it was a load of towels into the washer, all the dishes from the weekend done up, a pot of beans put on for supper, and then I let myself collapse into my recliner for the rest of the afternoon.  At 5:00, I added ham to the beans.
When it was time, I got myself ready to go to my TOPS meeting, even though Ron wasn't home yet.  I was glad I went - I usually am - and when I weighed in, I found out that I have lost about another half pound - .4 to be precise - and I am very happy with that.  I guess all that exercise yesterday did a little bit of good!

I got back home from the meeting, and we ate our supper while watching NCIS and NCIS:NO, as usual on a Tuesday.  Then he went to bed, and I moved to the pute.  Yee-haw!
While on the pute, I actually went back on myfitnesspal.com, too!  If you'll remember, I took "November" off, giving myself a break.  Yeah, November has been a long month...

Nothing planned for tomorrow, but I am sure hoping that they are wrong about the rain they're calling for, but the way my back has ached all day (part of my not-wanting-to-participate-in-life, I'm sure) and is still aching, I'm sure the rain is moving in.  A LOT of rain.  Blah.

4/10
Not a lot going on today - shopping and ordering my new glasses, that's all.  But, with me, that's plenty!
I started out by going down to Walgreen's and picking up prescriptions, then went back up to Bob Evans for a bite of lunch, which, of course, is breakfast.  I chose the country fried steak breakfast, with one slice of toast and one slice of banana nut bread.  After that, I went to WalMart.  I went to the Vision Center first, to choose my new frames.  I chose two pair, because I wasn't sure what kind of frame what work with the lens that I need (blind bat me needs not just bifocals, but trifocals, and I wanted no-lines, which is why I couldn't get them at the cheapo place), so I wanted my choices to start with instead of having to go back over them again.
After finding out that I had to pay upfront, instead of waiting to find out what the insurance would pay, I ended up going out and doing my shopping, then coming back to finish up the sale (trust me - that's WAY too long of a story), but I finally got those babies ordered.  I should get them in two weeks!  Yay!
I get home about half an hour before Ron does - he has great timing, doesn't have to carry in a single grocery bag! - and I walk out to meet him.  I make it to the curves on Hoover Road, so that was a nice little walk.  He doesn't have Corgan with him, they are going to drop him off later.  He comes in, takes a shower, and lays down for a nap - taking advantage of the peace and quiet.  Not 15 minutes later, they are texting that as soon as Corgan's friend is picked up, they will be leaving.  Well.  So much for that nap...
So, we go to meet them over at FeedMill in Felicity for supper, and then they went on their "date night" and we, with Corgan, came back home.  Poor Corgan, I commandeered the TV, watching dead guys and wouldn't give him the TV for his Most Stupid shows.  Mean ol' Granny!
Ron and I both went to bed at 10, letting our day be over with.

4/11
Saturday morning, Ron and Corgan got up and did the things they do - playing outside in the garage and shed.  They ran an errand, which took about an hour and a half, and I got up and paid bills and fun stuff like that.
Then - more fun stuff - I washed up the dishes that were sitting there, too, while the guys came in and ate their lunch, then I ate my lunch (potato soup) and started a new stack of dishes.  (Isn't that how it goes?)
They went back out and finished doing the important shed work - that was numero uno on Ron's list for today - and then came in, so that Corgan could get ready to be picked up.  He was supposed to be picked up by 5:00, because we were going to a dinner up at church, and were planning to leave here at 6:00, and we needed time to get ready.
But, as happens, life gets in the way, and they weren't going to get here until 5:30ish, so Ron and I had to get ready while Corgan was still here.  That, in and of itself, wasn't such a big deal, but it just would have gone smoother with just the two of us, if you know what I mean.  So, anyway, we got ready, and he was ready when Jean showed up.  We visited for a few minutes, then they left.  We finished getting ready, and left on time.

We got up to the dinner at church.  It was a Western-themed dinner, and we had dressed as Western as we could (I wore a denim skirt!), and others wore Western garb, too.  Not everyone, but a lot of them did.  The Center was decorated with Western things - hay bales, saddles, a "campfire" complete with a cast iron pot, a sawhorse bull for lassoing, and table decorations appropriate for the occasion.  We had BBQ or plain chicken, baked beans, mac-n-cheese, cole slaw, green beans, and cornbread.  We had root beer, red pop, and orange soda, as well as lemonade, iced tea, and water to drink.  It was very well done!
After the meal, we had DJs from WOBO (Country Jim and T-Bone) playing music for us, and there was dancing and socializing.  It was all great fun!

4/12
Sunday.  Church and lunch.
We went to Country Inn in Georgetown today, where we both got the big breakfast today.  I don't know why Ron didn't get his fried chicken, but he didn't.  A little strange, but...

We got home, and he decided to mow, even though the yard is still mushy. After practically ordering me to stay in the house, he got out Corgan's mower - his Zero Turn needs some work - and did the front yard, then went down the hill on the side and the mower blew up.  He said it started smoking and running real fast, stuff like that - he even said that he thought he was gonna have to jump off!  Ai yi yi!  So...that was that, and it's still sitting there.  He had to get out the push mower to finish the back yard, and I'll bet that his legs are gonna be hurting tomorrow!
After a little while, though, he called me outside to look at the little lilac trees that we planted on May 3rd last year (the day before I fell) - he thinks one of them is dead, but he wants me to look at it to make sure.  Yay!  I have a job to do outside now!  I get to sit on the ground and pull up the grass around those three trees and then tie the trees up to the stakes.  It only took me about 20 minutes, and when I was done, I walked around looking at my other plants.  My Spirea (wedding veil bush) is starting to bloom, and when it blooms out, it will be STUNNING!!  I need to clean up around my Columbines, too.  I had planned to do that last year, too, but didn't happen.  That was one of my last posts last year before my fall - "I have to move these Buttercups from in front of my Columbines." - maybe this year, it can actually get done!

I put the food that we brought home from the dinner last night on for our supper tonight.  Ron finally shut things down and came in around 7:00, and then it was dead guys for the rest of the night.

Tomorrow, I get to run up to Georgetown for Rumpke's Health Plan thingie - if I don't, they'll charge him an extra $10.00 a week because I didn't!  They get you coming and going, don't they?  What a pain in the ass.

Busy couple of days...whew!

4/8
I didn't have anything planned for today, but it was storming when I woke up and I stayed in bed, reading and tableting for quite a while, but I had to get up after a bit because my back hurt too much just lying there on my stomach.  I piddled around here in the house, but didn't really do anything Happy Homemaker-ly, like dishes or laundry, and then, as I was "talking" to my sister via internet, decided to go up and help her finish up cleaning her carpets and all.  I told her I'd come up once I finished my lunch (my chicken salad and walnuts), which I did, then I got dressed, checked Facebook one last time (for any other messages from her), then took off.

I took my time and enjoyed my drive up to Winchester - my last one, I hope! - just looking at all the Spring colors.  Flowers and trees blooming everywhere, grass the beautiful green it turns after gobs of rain, and all that kind of stuff.  I had the windows down, too, and the smells of Spring were around, too, and while some of them aren't so great, I LOVE the smell of freshly mown grass, and there was enough of that.  What's wrong with people, that they start mowing so soon?  Don't they know that the sooner you start mowing, the sooner you'll have to mow again?  Ah, well...it sure smelled better than dead skunks!
I got up to Winchester right at 4:00, which was a little later than I thought it was gonna be, but it worked out okay, because Ruth wasn't there.  I went up to the gas station for a pit stop and got me a snack (yeah, yeah, a Reese's Cup and Munchos) and went back to the house and still no Ruth.  I sat there and read my book and waited.  And waited.  And waited.  Even though I wasn't going to leave until 5:30, I finally left at 5:15, texting Tammy to tell her mom that I have left.  (Ruth's phone has died, after meeting some coffee.)  I get a response that they are now on their way, and didn't know I was coming up.  What??  Ruth forgot English, I guess.  But, it is what it is, and I sure enjoyed the drive!  It also gave me something different to do for the day besides sit around feeling sorry for myself, too, so even though Ron and I had an argument about it, everything worked out all right.

I got home and got my Altar Society Treasurer report typed up - that's why I was leaving Ruth's at 5:30 - and everything was ready for me to leave for the meeting at 7:00.  I'd have time to go to the library and make copies, then get to the meeting at 7:30 on time.  Well - who knew? - the library was closed!  So, I had no copies, but I had the report and we just passed it around, and that had to do.
This was our first Altar Society meeting this year, because of the weather, and it was a good meeting. We got the things we needed to get settled settled, and talked about a whole lot of other stuff.
I got home in time to watch Criminal Minds (yay!) and the evening was complete.  I made myself three cheese weenies for my supper, ate a few pieces of my Easter candy for dessert, and that was that.

4/9
Today, I had to get up early because I had to leave here at 11:00.  I had an appointment with my brain doctor - aka my neurologist - at 11:45.  I was only four months late for my yearly appointment, and it was time.  Back in March, I was having such terrible headaches again that I wasn't even sure that I could wait for this appointment.  But, I learned that I had an infection (a popcorn kernel stuck in my gumline) and when it finally went away, the flare-up of headaches did, too.  That is a good thing to know, but damn did it hurt!  As I explained it to the doctor today, he said that it was perfectly normal (something about me perfectly normal?  Hahahahahahaha!) - that having a chronic 'disease' with flare-ups, especially caused by stress or infection, is to be expected.  U.G.H.!!!
He was not worried about anything I told him, had no interest in ordering any kind of test, and told me that, barring any changes that he needed to know about right away, he'll see me "in a year."
And that was that.

I stopped at Meijer, then went to Longhorn after that, to have my almost-perfect salad for my lunch.  It started pouring down the rain while I was there, and it turned into one hell of a storm.  They lost their satellite twice, and their lights flickered quite a few times.  It was kinda weird!
When I left, it was raining, but not storming, and I came on home, after stopping for gasoline - IN BETHEL (can you believe it?)!!  Yes, Bethel was $2.29, and everywhere else was up around $2.40 or more.  I couldn't believe it - I don't know when the last time Bethel gasoline was cheaper than ANYone else.  Usually they are the highest around for fifty miles.

As the afternoon went on, it became obvious that Ron wasn't going to get home at a decent time, so I put together a clean outfit for him, and left to go down to Ripley.
Corgan has a concert at school tonight, and, of course, Grandpa and Granny will be there!  I got to Josh & Chelle's and got a bite of supper (tuna noodle casserole and homemade bread), and then they had to leave to get Corgan to the school in time for the concert (he had to be there a little early), but Ron wasn't even there yet.  Jean and I waited for Ron, then he showered and changed, ate a few bites and we left for the concert.

It was a cute little concert.  Corgan stood there, singing, with his hands in his pockets.  When he played his recorder, he had to take his hands out of his pockets!  He had to!  He's too funny!  He knew darn well that both his mother and me were taking pictures the whole time and did his very best to ignore us, but we both got a picture or two of him looking at us and/or moving and talking to his friends.  Little turd bird.

Ron and I came straight home after the concert, and we managed to get here before full dark.  Driving to and from Ripley was a pretty drive, too.  I guess being inundated with the Ohio River helped to make the soil very moist and all that.
I really enjoyed all the colors and shapes of all the blooming things that I saw these last couple of days.

Tomorrow, I'm going to go order my new glasses!  Yay!
Shopping, too.  That's always a lot of fun.

Success already!

Tuesday, April 7, 2015

I knew from the moment I woke up today that it wasn't going to be a very good day - my back ached sooooo bad.  After a little while, I heard the rain pouring down and knew why.
I didn't get up for a long time - I just ached so bad that I didn't want to move - and I eventually did get up, but it was well into the afternoon.  I didn't do much, but I did get up and move at least.

I didn't have much of a lunch, mostly because it was already so late, but also because today is Tuesday and I know that I have to weigh in tonight!  I did eat a nut bar around 3:30, just because I knew I had to eat something.  I thought about doing some Wii, but then did not, not with my back aching like it is.  It continued to rain off and on - hard at times - all afternoon long.
I put chicken breasts into the crockpot with chicken broth, cream of chicken soup, and chicken with rice soup for our supper.  Ron could figure out what to make as the sides.

A little after five, he texted me that he was on his way home, and I was glad, what with the weather being what it is.  I went to take my shower, and when I got done, he was home.  I had him put a heat patch on my back for the evening since I still had to go out into it now.

I went up to my TOPS meeting and weighed in.  I was a little leery about what my weight would be, since I had gained when I did my weigh-in on Saturday and Sunday was Easter, but to my surprise, I had lost - not only lost, but lost 2.8 - almost THREE - pounds!  An even bigger surprise awaited me - I was the Loser of the Week, too!  That hasn't happened for a very, very long time.  I feel that I have made some very good decisions here recently...

I got home from my meeting, and Ron had supper ready.  He made macaroni & cheese and corn to go with the chicken breasts, and it was very good!  I had a few pieces of my Easter candy as my dessert after I had eaten my meal while watching NCIS and NCIS:NO.  Then I moved over to the pute, and here I am.

Hopefully tomorrow will be as good as, or better than, today was.  Nothing planned, but we shall see.

My slackness is over, I promise!

Monday, April 6, 2015

I got on the pute tonight to find out that the last time I wrote a blog was Thursday, March 26th.  Oh, my!!  I am such a slacker - and I didn't even realize that it had been so long.  I knew it had been a few days, but over two weeks?  No, I didn't think it had been that long....I sincerely apologize and I am turning over a new leaf!
That's what Lent and the Easter Season are for, right?  I flunked out on doing it during Lent, so I've got to come through during the 50 days of the Easter Season... I've GOT to!
Not just these 50 days, either, but on past them, too.  And I will!

I have also made the decision to start back at the very beginning of this weight loss journey.  I will start again with this blog, with myfitnesspal, and with doing more and better exercises. (yuck!)  But, I have to do what I have to do, and nothing else is working right now - or for the past five or six months - so I'm going back to the beginning.
I'm hoping to report better results soon!

I hope you all had great Easter holiday weekends, whether with your families, on vacations, or just having solitary time - however you spent it, I hope it was what your soul needed.
