Friday
Today started as most Fridays do - with me tableting and reading, then getting up to shower and dress and go do my shopping and errand-running. I got this all done, stopping to eat my lunch at Don Rigo (the Mexican restaurant in the Kroger plaza), then continuing on. Nothing like a WalMart Walk to work off my lunch...
I got home, got everything carried in and put away, then took a break, waiting for Ron to text me.
This is where our Friday was going to be different, because we weren't having Corgan tonight. It was just going to be me and Ron! Whatever shall we do? Don't worry - I have a plan!
He finally texted and I walked out to meet him, then he took a nap while I piddled around, trying to be quiet, and got things together. At 7:30, I woke him up to get a shower and change so that we could go over to Harmony Hill (aka the winery) for the evening. I packed us grapes, crackers, chicken salad, ham salad, potato chips and dip, and bottles of water.
We get over there a little after 8, choose a bottle of wine, and settle out on the front patio to enjoy the fine evening and listen to the music while still being able to talk. Neither one of us realized (until we pulled in and saw the sign) that they closed at 9:00! We could have sworn that we had stayed there later - way later - than that in the past. But, no, the music stopped and the announcement made and that was that. How surreal. So....we packed everything back up, came home, went out to our firepit and built a fire, unpacked our picnic and spent another couple of hours outside, enjoying the fine evening.
We finally came in and went to bed around 11:30 or so, and that was our big Adult Friday evening.
Saturday
When I got up after doing my tableting and reading, I did my weigh-in (and wished that I hadn't), but I have gained. Not quite a pound - .7 - but still a gain. I don't know what to do. I may have to stop eating. I don't wanna! Food tastes too good! But - I must do something. This cannot continue. It cannot. I vow.
I went out to the garage to talk to Ron, and we eventually ended up deciding to go over to Felicity for lunch, since it was still just us two. We get over there, and they are busy, busy, busy. We got seated pretty quickly and asked why they were still so busy at 2 in the afternoon, and we were told that there were soccer matches going on in town today. Well, that explained that. We'll definitely have to remember that. We finally got our lunches, and enjoyed them, but it wasn't like it usually is when we go over there in the evenings. Not at all.
After we got done eating our lunch, we went over and Ron bought some bait, then we came home and got stuff together, then went across the street and went fishing. I outfished Ron, too! I caught two bluegills to his one, and I caught two bass, too, while he caught none. He 'accidentally' let one bass go trying to put it on the string, too.
When we finally had enough and were ready to come home, we let the fish go. Ron didn't want to clean them, he said - and I sure wasn't going to! So, they are back in the lake to grow some more and maybe we'll catch them again some other day.
We were supposed to go out tonight. I had made tentative plans, but luckily I had only told people that "maybe" we would be there because once Ron got into his recliner, that was it. His old eyes closed and he. was. out. He's getting old on me!
He slept until around 9:30, then woke up and wanted to know what was for supper. I just laughed at him, so he went out and found something. Since we had had such a late lunch, I wasn't hungry.
He went to bed around 10:30, and I finally went to bed around midnight, as usual.
Sunday
Church and lunch. Those were our plans for the day.
We were talking about where to go for lunch, and we decided to go up to Mt. Orab to Country Inn so I could have some chicken-n-dumplings. (Yes, we have strange conversations.) So we half-ass argued all the way up there because he said he knew a better way up there than the way we were going. I kept telling him that he was driving, so go however he wanted. But he didn't - he just kept driving the way we always drive to Mt. Orab. Silly man! But - he's MY silly man!
We enjoy our lunch - I always enjoy my chicken-n-dumplings and he said his roast beef was very tender, very good - and then headed home.
In the meantime, the texts from Josh had started. He murderpated his lawnmower. Murderpated. As in: he hit a rock and bent the blade so bad that it cut up through the deck!
After a few texts, Ron decided to take him our mower so that he finish his yard. So, off he goes, out into his garage, to gather stuff together and throw into the back of his truck. As soon as he's done, off we go.
When we get to Josh's, I go on in the house. Ron and Josh do their thing outside; Josh mowing and Ron 'fixing' them a mower out of two dead mowers.
Josh and I walk down to meet Chelle, who is getting off work now, then when we get back, it is supper time. Josh had made chili and it has been on the stove, staying warm. It was very good!
Josh, Jean, and I then played Jeopardy on the Wii. Jean won the first game (mostly because Josh didn't read the question correctly and I just didn't have enough money) and Josh won the second game by totally obliterating Jean and me like he usually does.
Then Ron and I came home, and our wonderful relaxing weekend is over.

Getting stuff done - in Georgetown, Bethel, and home
Thursday, August 20, 2015
I got up this morning after very little tableting because I had an appointment to meet the lady from St. Bernadette's to pick up my new little Bengals purse - the one that I won at the Silent Auction at the festival on Sunday. We were meeting in Georgetown because I didn't want to wait until the end of the day to meet in Amelia. I want my new purse!
I get to the UDF in Georgetown early, and sit there reading while waiting for her. As the time got closer for her to show up, I finally got out of my car and stood in front of it, watching for her. She finally got there about 5 minutes late (hey, she was the one who had to be at work, not me!) and we finished the transaction and she went on her way.
I looked my new purse over real good (yay! I'm so happy with it!) and finally went on my way - I had other errands to run while up in Georgetown. I went to the Post Office and then to the bank. After that, I called Ron to see, if by some miracle he was up at the landfill, but no...he was in Batavia at that time. Of course. He told me to go ahead and go get his paycheck, though, so he wouldn't have to mess with it, so I did that next. Then it was time for me to get some lunch - we were hoping that he would be able to have lunch with me, but it's not gonna happen, so I'm on my own.
I went to Country Inn and had a double decker BLT and steak fries. The steak fries probably aren't the best choice in the world, but damn are they good!
Then it was back to Bethel, where I went to the bank after stopping to do some quick math, and then I came home and, after resting for a bit, I did some accounting/bookkeeping and paid some bills. Whee - so much fun!
When Ron texted, I walked out to meet him and got just about to the half mile mark before meeting him - I was pretty proud of that!
When we got back home, I walked around the yard and took pictures of our plants and flowers (again) and it looks like we have 2 more tomatoes just about ready to pick. The rest of the tomatoes are looking good, too. Small, but good. Still no flowers on the Morning Glories. Jean's mimosa has a zillion seed pods on it, but mine doesn't, I guess because it didn't flower. The Rose of Sharon tree is still blooming. I'm thinking the yard is still looking pretty darn good!
Ron and I played on the Wii tonight, and then he made himself an egg sandwich for his supper, while I had a bowl of cereal (Basic 4). Then it was - you guessed it - dead guys on TV.
Shopping tomorrow, which is always fun.
We won't get Corgan this weekend - he started school this week, and he also has a friend's birthday party to go to on Saturday - so we can pursue adult entertainment for ourselves! Yay! No Most Stupid and/or silly science TV shows - just more dead guys if we stay home...and if we watch TV. Not that we mind - we wouldn't let him if we minded - but a free weekend is a free weekend.

My foot finally bruised! Finally!
Wednesday, August 19, 2015
I took my sweet time getting up after tableting and reading, and then took lots of breaks while doing the dishes and mopping more of the kitchen floor. Between my back and my foot, this seemed wise. I did get both jobs done - as much as I was getting done on the mopping job, anyway. That is some job (for me). I don't do it near as much as I should, so when I do it, it is a huge job and I am a wimp.
It has rained off and on all day, too, which makes it kind of a blah day. It's so humid that I have to turn the A/C on a lot earlier than I usually do, and to hear the rain pounding down over top of that is very strange. It only pours for about five to ten minutes, though, then it quits, and two hours or so later, it does it again. Makes for a strange day!
I go out and cut up cabbage to have it ready for Ron's supper, but then he calls to tell me that he is broken down and he is sitting at Beckjord waiting for the mechanic to get there - and the mechanic has no idea where Beckjord is. I even hear him over the radio, telling Ron that he's in New Richmond, where does he go now? I can't help but laugh - in this day and age of computers, phones, instant maps, GPS and God knows what else, he just asks Ron for directions. Too funny.
I figure Ron will get home around 7:30, 8:00 if he's lucky. IF he's lucky.
However, though, once again, the gods were smiling on Ron, and he texts me that he is on his way home at 6:30, getting him home right around 7:00. I only missed by a half hour or so...
It was also raining again at that time, so I couldn't walk out to meet him. Phooey.
I had his cabbage done, and I made myself chicken patties, and as soon as he got out of his shower, we ate our supper while watching dead guys - when the TV was on. It would go off during the worst of the storm, then come back on, then go back off half an hour later, etc. This rain was weird! It finally came back on and stayed on.
While watching TV, I noticed that my foot was finally starting to get a bruise. After two days! I expected it to bruise that next morning, and it's taken two days! But, finally, there is a bruise all around the scrapes.
I get to go get my new Bengals purse tomorrow!! I'm so excited! I've been thinking about using a smaller purse, and this will be great!

Monday
Happy Homemaker Day! Whee! Not.
I finally got up after doing my tableting and reading, and I was in the midst of doing laundry and dishes when I went out to refill our ice bowl (we keep a large bag of ice in the freezer in the garage). As I was stepping back into the house, the screen door closed faster than I expected - how many times have I stepped into the house? A couple or three bazillion? - and slammed onto my foot. Ow! Ow! Ow! Did that hurt!! I hobbled over to the fridge and got the bowl of ice in the freezer, and then checked out the damage - I have huge scrapes on the top, front, and back of my foot. Luckily, no blood - no broken skin, just scrapes - but, oh does it hurt and my foot and toes are numb! I'm not sure what to do, so I just walk around, wiggling my toes every now and then. I got two little baggies of ice and sat in my recliner with ice above and below my foot for about half an hour. Then I walked around on it some more, then rested it some more.
When Ron texted, I decided to walk out to meet him. I figured if it hurt too bad, I could just stop wherever I was, and that would be that. But I made it all the way to the curves, so I was glad about that. However, he saw that I was limping, and wanted to know why, so I had to tell him the whole sorry story. He looked at it when we got home, and he wasn't happy with what he saw, and wanted to take me to the doctor. I told him that it wasn't that bad - certainly not worth a trip that would cost us money! I told him if it was still "too bad" in the morning, I'd do something then.
The rest of the evening was spent in my recliner - he didn't want me to get up very much, even though I told him it would be better if I used my foot. Oh, well! He made us cheese weenies for supper, which we enjoyed while watching our dead guys.
I took sleeping pills (for the pain) tonight. My body needs to help my foot heal.
Oh, and guess what?? Chelle won the item she bid on at the festival yesterday!! A china cabinet! And, boy, did she get a great deal on it...a wonderful deal! They went down and picked it up in Jean's truck because Ron drove his truck today instead of the motorcycle. Jean's truck is a little one (think S10), and I didn't think the china cabinet would fit, but they made it home with it. WhooHoo!
Tuesday
My foot was still painful when I woke up this morning. I could tell, though, that it was from swelling, and not from anything else, and I thought that was good. It was not bruised, which I thought was weird - I thought it was gonna be all colors of the rainbow today! I guess it is bruised deep inside and will work its way out. You can still see the scraped skin and you can definitely tell that it's swollen both front and back.
After my tableting and reading, which, I admit, I did longer than usual, I finally got up and piddled around the house. I did "mop" some of the kitchen floor - which means I put a clean Swiffer wet pad on the unit and used that. Only one, and - trust me - many more will be needed. But between my foot and my back, that was all I could do today.
I also checked the 'answering machine' and found out that I won the item that I had bid on at the festival, too! I don't remember the phone ringing yesterday and I didn't answer it, and I don't remember when I first saw the light blinking. But it doesn't tell me the time or date of the call, so I don't know that information, but when I checked it today - voila! How about that? I won my little Bengals purse!
After Ron texted me that he was on his way home and I told him that I wasn't walking, I took my shower and got ready to go, and then I left early for my TOPS meeting. I went back down to St. B's to see if anyone was there for pick-ups today (the call had probably come in yesterday), but when I got there, no one was there. So...I will have to call them tomorrow.
On to my meeting. Phooey! I gained back the .2 of a pound that I had lost last week. I'm so glad that that's all I gained! But, dammit, a gain!
After the meeting, I asked my friend - a former EMT - to look at my foot and give me her opinion as to what my next step should be. I told her I was planning on soaking it in Epsom Salt tonight, but people had been suggesting it may been fractured or something, and I should go to Urgent Care and get it checked out.
She said she could see the swelling, and after a few questions, she said she didn't think it was broken and would suggest soaking it in Epsom Salt. She said that the blood thinner and baby aspirin is what is making the soft tissue swell like that. I sure appreciated the advice! (especially since it matched what I was already thinking...) She also said don't use Neosporin, but use Polysporin on the scrapes if I must use anything. Neosporin would seal the wounds and not let healing happen, while Polysporin would let healing happen. That kind of information is good to know!
I got home from my meeting and Ron had supper done - BACON!! Yes, yummy bacon. Yum, yum, yum. He had also stopped on his way home from work and bought some tomatoes, and had sliced those up - nice and thick. I quite enjoyed my supper tonight, let me tell you!
We watched NCIS (a rerun) and then turned on dead guys for the rest of the night.
I soaked my foot in Epsom Salt for 45 minutes while watching TV - that's how I timed it.
I have some phone calls to make tomorrow - let's hope I get some answers!

Saturday
I woke this morning, and laid in bed doing my tableting and reading, but the sound of the mowers outside my window soon drove me to get up. I truly appreciate that my guys wait until they know that I am awake before starting the mowers, but do they really have to start right there in the back yard? Can't they do the front yard first? I guess not, but by the time I get up, take my pharmacy, do my weigh-in (I gained 1.3 pounds this week - ugh), then went and got dressed, they were way out yonder in the back yard. I took pictures of the two of them on their respective mowers and proudly posted them on Facebook!
I also discovered that that, even though Ron and I had picked (and eaten!) our two ripe tomatoes the other night, we again have nine tomatoes on our plants. WhooHoo! The tomatoes aren't getting real big, but they are OUR tomatoes, by God!
After the guys were done mowing, I tried to talk them into doing something for the day - a festival, River Days in New Richmond, going for a walk, something - but, no, nothing. It was sit here in the house and stare at the TV. Ron fell asleep in his recliner, and, eventually, Corgan fell asleep in mine. I, on the other hand, stayed awake listening to Corgan's silly-ass science shows (which are mostly all reruns that WE have seen before), which he was watching, waiting to turn Mythbusters on. Crazy boy!
Ron then got up and went to church tonight, since we are having Corgan again tonight, and all of us going to church is out (still - I'll be so glad when that story can change) and, once again, I tried to talk Corgan into doing something while Grandpa was gone. He said okay, but let him watch the episode of Mythbusters he hadn't seen yet. He was still watching the Science of Stupid at the time, and that episode got over, then the next one got over, then the next one. I finally asked him frustratedly when were we going to do go walk down Hoover Road, and he just looks at me so innocently and says, "Well, the Mythbusters episode I want to see doesn't come on until 7:00." I just looked at him, then kept reading my book. It would have been so much easier it he had just said No. But.....
Ron got home, and I went out into the kitchen to make our supper. I made us mackerel, mac & cheese, and green beans. Corgan chose the green beans, but complained about the mackerel ("it stinks") and wanted to just make himself some Ramen Noodles, but I put my foot down and made him eat the supper I made. Mean ol' Granny!
I went and laid on my bed to eat my supper because I was tired of sitting out in the living room, and I needed to stretch my back. Once supper was all over with, and I got done reading as much as I wanted to, I got up and we went outside to light a fire in the firepit.
It was SO nice outside! A nice breeze made it cool enough that the fire felt good, and we sat out there til almost midnight....
Sunday
Church and lunch. Only lunch today was at Saint Bernadette's Festival!! They have the best fried chicken dinner, and we take advantage of it every year, if we can. As I was getting ready for church this morning, though, Chelle started texting me about how much was the chicken dinner and what was in it and all that, and she and Josh decided to come up and join us! Yay! We made arrangements, and that was pretty cool.
So, Ron and Corgan took me to church this morning, then came back to pick me up. We had hamburgers, cheeseburgers, and hot dogs at church after Mass today, too, and Ron even picked himself up a hamburger to eat on the way down to our chicken dinner! We were texting them, and we were ready to pull out of church as they came up the road, so they let us pull out right in front of them and they followed us down to St. B's.
We got our chicken dinners, found seats with the friends we were already going to meet there, and enjoyed our meals. The meal also included tickets for a free book (part of the festival), so after we ate, we perused the books and made our choices. Then it was festival time!! I discovered that I had left my raffle tickets at home (not that I win, but you can't win if you don't enter), which bugged me because I had the tickets all ready - I put address labels on them instead of filling them in and only have to write the phone number - along with the money in an envelope, and only had to pick up the envelope. What an idiot I am sometimes! We walked through the Silent Auction items and both Chelle and I bid on a couple of items, then we walked through the games and that was that. We were done.
I called Bert, and she met us at Kroger, and we both got gasoline and visited a bit. (Thanks, Bert!!) Then it was finally time to go home.
Once we got home, Ron decided to go fishing. He asked me if I wanted to go over with him, and I finally decided to. We figured if I got too hot, I could come back home. We sat in the shade of the mulberry tree and fished. He got a couple of hits, but lost them - one after a tremendous fight. He moved down a bit from where I was, and I moved over to where he was and cast my line practically across the pond. WHAM! I got a hit, but lost it. I cast back to that same spot, and WHAM! I got him! I caught that fish! It was only a bluegill, but I caught him!
After we had fished for a couple of hours, and this was the only fish, we gave it up.
We decided to go back down to the festival and take our raffle tickets down (you can't win if you don't enter!) just so we would be doing something for the rest of the evening. We found the information, and the festival would be open until 9:00, so we could do that - we even talked about having their fried chicken for supper. RON finally decided that he didn't want chicken again (where's my real Ron?) but, if I drove, he'd ride along with me. So....off we went again. Down to Amelia. Down 1 freaking 25. At the festival, we dropped off the raffle tickets, bought some pull-offs - and Ron won his money back, plus some, so we stopped, played a couple games, tried to check on our bids but that was closed. Then we left.
We decided to stop at Bob Evans to eat - Ron wanted a Pot Roast sandwich. I was going to get the Chicken Salad Plate that I like, but they were out, so I had to decide on something else. I finally got the half-sandwich and soup combo. Turkey Bacon Sandwich and Potato Soup.
We came home, and then it was dead guys the rest of the night.

Lunch with Bert and shopping!
Friday, August 14, 2015
Once Bert and I both finally got up and got going, it was almost 2:00 - yes, we are that lazy! Good thing we know each other very well...
We met at Bob Evans to have our lunch (Bert's choice), and she met me there. I got the chicken salad plate that I like so much, while she got the broasted chicken meal. We sat there, enjoying our meals, for a long, long time - until about quarter after 4! Then we decided we best get going or we'd get stuck in Friday after-work traffic (yeah, it happened anyway) and we took my car on down to the Post Office - just a drive-thru - then to Walgreen's, where I went in to pick up my prescriptions, Ron's OTC meds, and some other stuff, then to Kroger, where both of us picked up a few items, Bert a few more than me. I sat on a bench in front of the registers and waited for her to finish.
After we put the bags in the car, I took her back to her car, then she went on home and I went over to put gasoline in my car and then to do my heavy-duty shopping at WalMart. I got my WalMart Walk in today, that's for sure!
As I was getting into the car to leave WalMart, I got a text from Ron - he and Corgan were home. It's only 6:30. Rumpke makes me soooo mad sending him back out at quarter til 4 on a Friday!
I get home, we get the groceries carried in (yeah, Corgan helped - he got in the back of the car and kept pushing the bags to the back/front so we could reach them better, and then he carried in the last bag...sigh). Ron and I put everything away while Corgan made his supper - he worked hard, you know! - and then Ron made his own supper, which I had bought (it was bacon). I sat on my ass and played on the pute.
Corgan took over the TV and watched science stuff and that was our night.
Nothing planned for tomorrow - just a stay-at-home day, since I did all the errands yesterday and today. As much as I like "going," a resting day sounds good!

Getting out of the house a little today
Thursday, August 13, 2015
I finally got up after doing some tableting and reading, but didn't do much - just some piddling around doing this and that. I called Ron to see if maybe I could meet him and get his paycheck, but, of course, he didn't answer his phone. You'd think he was at work or something...
He did call me back a few minutes later, and we decided it wasn't feasible for me to come out and meet him (dammit!), but as he was going through Eastgate, he would be able to stop at the bank and cash his check and make a deposit, so that would work out. He texted me after he had done this, and then I got dressed and went over to Felicity to see what kind of 5-for-$20. meat I could find.
Of course, since I hadn't eaten lunch yet, I stopped at FeedMill to have a bite first, because everyone knows that you don't shop on an empty stomach!
After eating my lunch - loaded potato skins - I went over to IGA and did my little bit of shopping. I got back home, put everything away, and that was my big adventure of the day.
But, oh, did I feel so much better for getting out a little bit!
When Ron texted that he was on his way home at 5 til 6, I walked out to meet him, and after we got home, I went out and watered our tomatoes - I made up Miracle Gro water for them - and then it was recliner time for the rest of the evening. I did make us small steaks for supper while he was in the shower, but that didn't really take any time, and that's all we had for supper. Steak sandwiches, which we ate while playing on the Wii. He beat my ass at golf - twice! Assholio.
Then it was dead guys for the rest of the night.
Tomorrow, it's the for-real shopping, and I'm supposed to pick Bert up to go with me! Yay!

Long hot boring summer days

8/11
Really a long boring day. I moved from doing my tableting and reading in the bed to doing my tableting and reading in my recliner. Whee!
I started to do my exercises, but let me talk myself out of them after just a couple - yep, it was that kind of day.
I was getting in the shower when Ron texted, so I didn't even walk out to meet him.
On a bit of a happier note, when I weighed in at my TOPS meeting, I recorded a loss! Only .2 of a pound, but a loss nevertheless. I was hoping for more, especially after the nice loss Saturday morning, but I guess it wasn't meant to be. I guess I have to quit eating, and I don't like the idea of that!
Ron and I finished off all the salad fixings for our supper tonight. Ron even boiled eggs to go in our salads! Then it was dead guys for the rest of the night...
8/12
Another long boring day, although I did do the dishes from the last couple of days when I finally got up. That was just about it, though. I turned the A/C on a lot earlier than I have been doing, too.
I did get dressed and walked out to meet Ron today. I actually made it all the way to the half mile mark, too! I felt pretty proud of myself since I hadn't walked for a little while.
I made a real supper for us tonight, too. Chicken patties, mac & cheese, and green beans. For whatever reason, I just felt like having a hot meal. How weird is that?
After that, it was dead guys as usual, until I watched Idiotest for an hour, then back to dead guys.
Ye gods, my life is pathetic.

My SURPRISE vacation and catching up when I got back
Sunday, August 2, 2015 -
Monday, August 10, 2015
Sunday the 2nd
Church, lunch, and getting ready to go.
After church, Ron surprised me by suggesting we go to the Mexican restaurant for our lunch. He doesn't particularly like Mexican, but he just didn't want to go to the Barn or Bob Evans, so ... there it was. He tried another dish, and he will find one he likes eventually. He will!
After that, it was home, and I did laundry, packed, and got all the paperwork/accounting done for the meetings I was going to miss while gone, made the pertinent phone calls, and did all that kind of stuff as well as getting the dishes done and cleaning house (why? Ron would be home...) that I do before leaving on a trip. It was a busy, busy day, putting two weeks' worth of getting ready for a trip into one day, let me tell you!
But -- I got it done mostly before Josh and family got there to pick me up around 5:30. They had gone to the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and were picking me up on the way home. Since we were leaving early Monday morning, it was best for me to be with them! They did have to wait for my load of laundry to dry (since my dryer is so slow), but it was less than half an hour. I finished that little bit of packing with nice warm clothes and off we went!
We spent a nice evening playing Wheel of Fortune on their Wii, and went to bed early so we could rise early and get this party started!
Monday the 3rd - Wednesday the 5th
SMOKY MOUNTAIN VACATION!!!!!
We got up and got the car packed and hit the road bright and early - half an hour earlier than planned (who can sleep when there is vacationing to do?) even!
We get down there, and our first stop is the SkyBridge, which is in Sevierville. Then on to Pigeon Forge, where we stop at Chelle's favorite winery (Mountain View Winery, right there on the right), then on to our cabin. After we get the car unloaded, we go on in to Gatlinburg and go shopping in The Village, then go up on the SkyLift, which is the one that looks like a ski lift. Last time we were here, it wasn't working, and we are very glad it was working this time! After that, we just walked the streets of Gatlinburg, then went back to the cabin.
Tuesday was our "hiking day." We had planned on two hikes, but after we did a Quiet Walkway trail, we went to hike up to Laurel Falls. This is listed in the guides and books as "easy" and "not steep." THEY LIE!!! Oh, do they lie! Those words may be true for experienced hikers, but they are not true for the everyday tourist. Some of said tourists (not us, we were smarter than that) were wearing flip-flops or crocs, even!
They definitely need to re-write, or re-word their guides and books to differentiate for hikers and tourists. But that's just my lowly little opinion.
I did make it up to the Falls, even though it took me a while, and quite a few people passed me, but I. DID. IT.!!! It took me even longer to get back down the mountain, I think....
After that, we decided not to trust the "easy" rating of the other hike, and didn't go do it. We went instead to the Sugarlands Visitor Center and then to Cade's Cove. We didn't see any animals at all in Cade's Cove except horses. Phooey!
On Wednesday, we got up, got the car re-packed, and left the cabin. We went and did a bit more shopping (the Christmas Place!!!) and other places, then stopped at the Apple Barn for a bite to eat before leaving. Since it was the middle of the week, we got right in and it was a very enjoyable meal. We then went over to the little Christmas store in that complex, and after that I went over and sat on the front porch of the restaurant while they shopped the other stores. Then, after a stop at the Russell Stover store, we hit the highway and were on our way home.
We got home around 8:15 or so at night, so I decided to spend the night and let them take me home tomorrow.
Also -- on Tuesday, I found out that one of my friends had passed away. Just like that, everything has changed.
The friend who comes over to "play" on the Wii with me and we play for 3 or 4 hours at a time?? No more. Laura has gone on to an eternal life. I was so shocked when told -- I just couldn't believe it! We all knew that she was so allergic to stinging insects, but we never thought it would really happen, but it has. It is most distressing. But...there it is.
Thursday the 6th
I get home around 1:00 and spend the rest of the day doing up my laundry, putting things to rights in the house, and that kind of stuff.
Friday the 7th
A most stressful day. There was already a funeral at church, and I had committed to being lector for it, and now Laura's funeral is today. Her family had chosen to have her funeral up in Georgetown rather than wait until Monday to have her funeral at our church (since the other funeral was already scheduled). The first starts at 10:30, and Laura's at 11:00. I was a bad girl, but fulfilled my committment to the Bereavement Committee and the family at the funeral, then flaked out early and went to Laura's. I really, really hate to leave church early (early means before the priest) but today is special, and I think God understands. I was late to Laura's funeral, of course, but not too late - I got there not long before I left the funeral at our church (if you know the Catholic Mass, you know what I mean). After the funeral, the ladies of our church were putting on a luncheon for the family (yes, at Georgetown's church) and I stayed for that, too.
I finally got home close to 3:30 and went to lay down for a while. My brain just couldn't take any more.
Josh and Chelle dropped Corgan off after they got done doing some shopping (Ohio's tax free for school shopping!) and Ron got home soon after, and our normal Friday evening started. I needed normal, and so that was good.
Saturday the 8th
When I got up, I did my weigh-in. YAY!! A loss! Only 1.3 pounds, but it's a loss, and I'll take it! I guess that tromp up the mountain did some good. If only I could have not eaten since.....
After that, I called the guys in off of the mowers and we went to run our errands and to meet Bert for lunch. I won't list all the errands, mostly because I can't remember them all now, but there were plenty -- the Wals, oil change for only $20.00 (that was a surprise), gasoline, etc., etc. -- and we had lunch down at Hibachi because Bert had never been there and I had coupons. (Thank you, Kroger!)
Saturday evening, we went to the Pig Roast up at church. It was pretty good. The meat Ron and I got wasn't quite done, and we thought maybe things could have been hotter (but how?), but for the price, we weren't about to complain! I bid on a box of Christmas bows and bags at the Silent Auction, thinking someone would outbid me at the last minute, but I ended up winning it. Yay, me!
Sunday the 9th
Church and lunch
We didn't go out for lunch today -- we went to our friends' house instead. We came home quickly to cut up mushrooms to add to the salad we were taking, and off we went.
We had our lunch and spent the afternoon playing dominoes. We didn't get home until after 8:00!
It was a wonderful relaxing day with friends!
Monday the 10th
Happy Homemaker Day. Yippy Skippy Doodle.
I did run uptown to have my lunch - I went to Gold Star (I wanted to see if they had any Bengals schedules (they didn't) - bummer) - but other than that, it was Happy Homemaker shit all day long.
Blah.

Blah.

A birthday dinner....and a surprise!
Saturday, August 1, 2015
I woke up this morning, then finally got up at noon after tableting and reading. I had a busy day ahead because I had to get things ready for the birthday dinner tonight. It's not going to be a big dinner - Josh and Chelle only want meatloaf, peas, asparagus and a big salad because we are all trying to watch what we eat.
But making the big salad means lots of prep work for lots of different veggies, which takes a lot of time. I also have to do dishes, then get the good dishes out of the china cabinet and do them up, set the table after Ron puts the leaf in, and all the little bits and pieces that happen all day long. Oh, I also had gifts to wrap, too.
So, first off, I do my weigh-in. I weigh exactly the same as last week! Exactly! That's something else!
I also get some texts from both Josh and Chelle - they are going on vacation next week, and -- SURPRISE -- they are asking me if I would like to go away with them. I certainly did not expect that! I ask them both if they are sure I won't be "in the way" and they both say NO, so -- just like that -- now I have plans for next week!! I am thrilled!!
Of course, there were now texts back and forth all day long as things get settled, and it all seems so out-of-this-world and so exciting and everything.
But I just keep working on those veggies, and I finally get through with them. Man, was that a job! I took a small break, then went outside and picked a new bouquet of my flowers.
I helped Ron put the leaf in the table and I. should. not. have. done. that. I jerked the living hell out of my back. It can't be helped now, it's over and done with, but damn my back doesn't like me at all the whole rest of the night.
I make the meatloaf and get the rest of supper going around 5:30, and they finally get here, and we have the birthday dinner. After eating, it was time for them to open their gifts. They alternated opening gifts, since we were celebrating both birthdays, so that took up a bit of time.
After that, we went outside to sit by the fire for a bit. We had to wait for the cheesecake slices to thaw/defrost (they were frozen), and I didn't realize that I should have taken them out of the freezer a hell of a lot sooner! We sat out there enjoying the fire, then they couldn't wait any longer, came in and got their cheesecake and they enjoyed them out by the fire.
They finally declared that it was time to go, because they have plans for tomorrow, and they knew that I was hurting. So.....the evening came to an end.
It was a good day.
Tomorrow - Sunday! Church and lunch.
And packing!!

Tuesday. Happy Homemaker Day. Whee!
After a shower and a change of clothes, I went to my TOPS meeting, where we were having our Christmas in July party instead of a meeting tonight. We each brought a white elephant gift, and we've been saving little green dollars earned by losing pounds to spend for first chance at these gifts. The winner had 31, so she chose first, then the one who had 27, then another person and I who each had 21, and so on. It was a blast - and we're starting over again to do this for December! Losing weight pays off!! (btw, my gift was a box of granola bars)
We weighed in before the party started, and I was Loser of the Week this week! I lost 2.8 pounds! Yay, me!!
7/29
Wednesday. I had errands to run today.
Once I got up and got going, I got some errands around Bethel done, stopped at Gold Star for my lunch, then went to Amelia for a meeting with other concerned citizens at the USDA offices concerning the ALB. It was a bunch of horseshit as usual - they talk out of both sides of their mouths and contradict themselves over and over - and I left feeling as though my head was spinning. It was very frustrating. I stopped for gasoline (I think I got siphoned, even though I didn't think that was possible. It sure disappeared for me not going anywhere...) and did a couple other little errands while I was in Amelia, too, then headed for home. One last stop at the bank, hitting the ATM, and I was done for the day.
Man, was I beat!
7/30
Thursday. Fair Day!! Josh dropped Corgan off on his way to work this morning, and when I got up, Corgan and I went to the Clermont County Fair. I had a schedule that said there was stuff going on all day long, and our friends' grandchildren were showing rabbits at 1:00, so we figured that we could have a full day over there.
What a crock!
No games were open. Very little food booths were open. Some booths were open, but neither Corgan nor I were interested in buying anything - we wanted to SEE stuff and DO stuff! We walked through and looked at all the animals, then we finally decided to go up on the grandstand and watch the Antique Tractor Pull even though neither one of us gave a rat's ass about it. We figured we could tell Grandpa about the tractors if nothing else.
Yep, it was boring as all get-out. The best thing that could be said was that at least - once we grew brains - we got to sit in the shade. How do people "just love" tractor pulls?? Snore-ville. My friend finally called me and said they were there, over by the rabbits, so we got down and walked over to talk to them. We weren't allowed in to see the rabbits because the kids were being judged on showmanship, but we got to stand under a tree to talk, so we weren't in the blazing sun. They had to go help their grandchildren, so we climbed back up and watched some more snoreville. I scraped my leg crawling the last step up and Corgan bounced around the steps like they were nothing. Kids! He found another kid to talk to and I sat there, in the shade, reading my book.
It got to be 12:30 and we decided to go get some lunch, so we walked to the caboose and got a Pork Tenderloin sandwich (my choice), over a row to get an elephant ear (both of us chose that - besides, the Fair is the only place to get one!), then over to get Corgan a slice of pizza and a drink. At the pizza booth, they didn't have pizza - they had stromboli and breadsticks. Talk about false advertising - it says pizza all over the booth!! Corgan decides to just eat the elephant ear, so we walk all the way back to the back, near the animal barns, to the picnic table pavilion, to sit in the shade and eat our lunch. Our friends call to find out where we are, and I explain, and they get their lunch and come join us. We had a pleasant time together, talking and enjoying the fair food.
FINALLY, at 2:00, the rides opened, so Corgan and I went to ride the rides. I was kinda surprised at how many of them he wanted to ride. I hadn't really intended to ride any, but I ended up riding 2 with him. I rode the Paratroopers and one called Rock Star. No jerking, no problems at all for my back. I didn't dare chance any of the others! He tried to talk me into them, but I resisted.
I was starting to melt, standing around waiting for him to finish riding, and after he climbed the rock wall and rode the Scrambler one last time, we left. It was near 3:30, and I was so ready.
Josh stopped to pick Corgan up on his way home. Ron and Josh changed the brakes on Josh's car, and then Josh and Corgan stayed for supper. Josh and I played Wheel of Fortune on the Wii while we ate supper, and then it was decided that Corgan would go ahead and stay, since he would just be coming back up tomorrow night anyway.
I went to bed early.
7/31
Friday. Another errand day - actually, it's shopping day!
Corgan and I did the few errands I had listed, then we went to lunch at the Mexican place (Don Rigo). Then it was on to WalMart and shopping....we're having Josh and Chelle's birthday dinner tomorrow night, so I had quite a bit of shopping to do so I can just stay home tomorrow and put everything together.
When Ron got home, we played on the Wii. First those two, then I joined in after getting some accounting/bookwork done after having to call Verizon again because the damn pute is playing tricks and won't give me my internet. After another 45 minutes on the phone, I hope to hell that I have this problem fixed once and for all!
After playing on the Wii, I came back to catch up my blog. Ron is sleeping in his recliner, and Corgan is science-ing on the TV. Another normal Friday.
Thank God for normal.
It's still too hot. I still can't handle it. I am a wuss.

What a day!
Monday, July 27, 2015
That damn alarm went off at 6:30 this morning (as planned), and oh, how I hated it. But I managed to get my lazy ass up, dressed, and out the door pretty much on time! Yay, me!
Unfortunately, I forgot my pocket stuff (luckily I remembered while on Hoover Road) and had to turn around and go back home to get it, so now I'm running late....grrrrrr. Oh, well. That's me. Good thing I was leaving early enough to have plenty of time.
I pick my sister up, and we get on over to Clermont Mercy Hospital with time to spare - only about five minutes, but time to spare. I don't know how she managed it, but she got in and out of the radiology department a lot quicker than I expected her to! We were soon on our way back up to Mt. Orab, where we stopped so she could get a blood test done, then it was on to Country Inn so she could get a good cup of coffee - she was so ready! I, of course, was ready to eat by then, even though I thought it would be closer to lunchtime. We both got breakfast, and enjoyed the time talking.
I got back home, then let Laura know I was home and she came over and we played on the Wii for over 3-1/2 hours. Man, do we have fun doing that. It almost doesn't even seem like that evil E word! She eventually had to go home, or we would have played a lot longer...
When Ron texted, I walked out to meet him, too. I think that I worked off that unexpected big breakfast!
It was hot, hot, hot today, too, as well as raining off and on. A kind of strange weather day, but -- it is fair week, right?

Weekend!! I sure don't have to worry about BORING on the weekend...
7/24
Friday - shopping day! Ron wanted me to go shopping today, so he wouldn't have to go with me on Saturday. He had too much to do at home, what with mowing, weedeating, and all that, as well as dealing with "Grandpa!" "Grandpa!" "Grandpa!" every few minutes, even though he gives Corgan his own tasks. (poor guy, right?) Excuses, excuses - but that's okay, it seems I get more done easier without the guys breathing down my neck, even though I like their company.
So, I got up after doing my tableting and reading, got a shower and got dressed and headed off down the road. I had plenty of stops to make:
1) Bank
2) Walgreen's
3) Kroger
4) Lunch at Don Rigo (the Mexican restaurant in the Kroger plaza)
5) Gasoline at WalMart
6) WalMart
and I decided not to go to the Post Office or the other bank!! I figured that what I was doing was enough running.
I left home around quarter til 2, and got home close to 5:30, and I was totally exhausted. I'm not sure if it was the 90+ degree weather, or I'm just too damn old. Probably a good combination of both.
I dozed off in the recliner waiting for the guys to get here, waking when Corgan called to let me know they were on their way, and dozing back off again until they got here. Then our Friday evening fun started. It wasn't too very bad - the guys did some of the yard work tonight (Ron said "since it was cooler" hahahahahahahahha) and didn't even come in until after 8:30 - so the TV didn't come on until after that.
I had started a pot of garden green beans to have for supper tomorrow (Saturday) night, and I turned them off around 9:00.
Two or three hours of TV, and then I went to bed. I just couldn't stand it any more. Most stupid science shows, indeed....
7/25
Happy, happy birthday to my daughter-in-law Chelle!!
My Saturday started a lot earlier than I wanted it to, with my son texting me, asking me what was the plan for today a little after 10 in the morning. I had to bite my tongue so hard to not say "sleep" but I was a good girl, and told him a decent answer. Then I had to go talk to Ron and find out the real answer. I let Josh know, then we started our day according to said plans.
Ron and Corgan started in on finishing the yard work while I languished in bed for a little while, then I got up, did my weigh-in (my first one for this go-round, so I lost more weight than usual - 4.4 pounds), turned the green beans back on, then got ready to go over to Felicity to buy some 5/$20. meat. To my surprise, Corgan decided to come with me! Maybe Grandpa was working him too hard...
After getting back from the store, I peeled potatoes to add to the beans. I also added ham, but I forgot to add onions - why do I do that? I knew I wanted to, and I had an onion laying on the kitchen table so I wouldn't forget!
We had told Josh that we'd come down around 3:00, but we had also promised Corgan that we'd go swimming at East Fork Lake, so now our time is running out. We talked it over, and then texted Josh that it would be closer to 4:00 before we get down there, and I got things ready to go swimming while the guys closed down the outside. So we went swimming for a couple of hours, came home for Ron and I to take showers (Corgan said he'd take one at home), and off we went again, this time down to Josh's.
Corgan and I played on the Wii while Ron and Josh went under his house to work on the pipes, which didn't take them very long at all. Ron wanted to do more, but Josh was satisfied with the little bit that was done. They came back up, showered (yeah, Ron's a clean guy!), and we ate supper. Meatloaf, green beans, and applesauce. It was very good.
Before supper, Josh played a game of bowling on the Wii with us, then Jean joined us for a game, too. We decided to play Wheel of Fortune during supper, since it isn't very energetic and we could concentrate. Corgan wasn't happy, because he can't play (yet), but he got to hang with Grandpa, so he was okay after a little bit. So it was a good, quiet, happy family evening.
7/26
Sunday. Church and lunch.
Yep. Ron did surprise me, though. When we pulled into the Barn to go to lunch, he asked me, "Do you really want to go here?" I asked him, "Well, where else?" and he said, "Well, there's the Mexican place."
I swear, my lower jaw hit the ground! Ron does not like Mexican, and he's the one who says this??? NO WAY!! As we're having this conversation, about 12-15 motorcycles start pulling in. It seems they're just coming and coming. We just look at each other, and then we both nod and say, "OK. The Mexican place." It was kinda funny!
So that's where we ended up going - the Mexican place in the Kroger plaza. (it's named Don Rigo) He tried the lunch combo, getting two chimichangas - one beef, one chicken - while I got my normal lunch combo of two chicken chimichangas. I get mine deluxe, getting a "salad" on the side, but he didn't get that, since he eats the refried beans and the rice. He also gets mine, so he got a plenty big-enough meal.
We got back home. He went fishing after sitting around for a bit, and I just sat in my recliner tableting and reading. After he got home, the TV came on, and that was the night.
I made him a ham and egg sandwich (two breads) for his supper, and I had a ham and cheese sandwich (one bread) for mine.
Dead guys the rest of the night, and I am caught up!
I am taking my sister for an ultrasound of her gallbladder in the morning. I HAVE to get up and leave here by 7:00. Ugh, ugh, and more good ugh. Tis okay - I'll survive.

Thursday, July 23, 2015
Well, if this wasn't a couple of boring-ass days, I don't know what could be.
Wednesday - I got up after reading and tableting, did my standing-up exercises. I did throw a load of regular clothes into the washer, and then into the dryer, so I did accomplish some Happy Homemaker crap. I then plopped into my recliner until Ron got home, choosing not to walk out to meet him because I didn't want to get dressed.
He and I then played Wii games for a couple of hours, eating supper while doing so. I had made small steaks on the griddle and boiled up some corn on the cob that we were given. It was a yummy supper!
I then watched dead guys the rest of the night, while Ron took his normal evening nap, albeit an hour or two later than usual.
Thursday - pretty much a copy of Wednesday, but I didn't do any Happy Homemaker crap. None. Didn't do any dishes, which I could have. Didn't do any laundry, which I could have. Didn't put away any laundry, which I could have.
Matter of fact, I didn't even get out of bed until almost 3:00 - I just laid there, reading and tableting, tableting and reading - and finally made myself get up. I could have very easily stayed there, but I didn't. Once up, I wandered around the house, deciding not to do stuff, then finally did my exercises - all of them - and then walked out to meet Ron when he texted, which was pretty much not long after I got dressed after the exercises were done.
After that, we just watched TV - dead guys after his news (weather) was over, and that was that. He had one of his frozen Chinese things for supper, and I had chicken salad and puffcorn. I actually had two sandwiches instead of just eating it out of the can this time, too, since I had only had a package of Nutty Bars for my lunch and I was hungry and figured that I needed some calories.
Shopping tomorrow, so I won't make the poor guys do it on Saturday. Oh, well, I'll enjoy the time out of the house!

A not-so-great news day
Tuesday, July 21, 2015
The day started off early, with the alarm going off before 9:00. I had to get up to make phone calls before taking a shower before leaving to go to the doctor. Ugh!
I did get the phone call(s) made, and got all that stuff settled - which is great fun, you know - then got my shower and took off for my doctor appointment.
My HbA1c was 7.6 this time. It has gone up since last time, but that's not really a surprise, since I've not really been all that vigilant on watching what goes into my mouth. I certainly haven't been making myself do my exercises, either, and I come up with plenty of reasons (most of them rain) not to walk out to meet Ron, too. I have been having way too many blah days, and I talked to Doc about them today, too. He said that I am on the verge of sliding into depression, if I don't make myself do things, like I did yesterday. He said making myself do those exercises yesterday was a good thing. But -- I REFUSE, absolutely refuse, to be depressed, so now as well as the family Biggest Loser contest for Christmas and the regular Biggest Loser contest for the next twelve weeks, I now have another goal!! Goals are good!! The only bad thing is that I gotta start really incorporating that damn evil E word into my life....UGH.
I have a plan, and I have a goal. Now I just have to DO this. I can do it - I just don't wanna. But I will. I will.
After my appointment, I went to Crackhead Barrel for some lunch. I really should quit doing this on Tuesdays, but I don't get over to Milford very often and must take advantage of it! I had chicken-n-dumplings with hashbrown casserole and green beans. I refused the bread (biscuits or cornbread), but I did try the strawberry iced tea. It was waaaay too sweet for me, and I got refills of regular iced tea. Did you know CB already has Halloween and Thanksgiving displays up? And here I thought back-to-school was kinda early!
I got back home and walked around my swampy yard taking pictures of my plants and flowers, including our SEVEN (!!) tomatoes, which I then went into the house and played on the pute with.
I was getting Ron's supper ready and sliced the end of my thumb with one of those damn Ginsu knives - boy, do those things like human flesh and blood!! I immediately grabbed a paper towel and applied pressure, then went and got band-aids (four of 'em!) wrapped around the wound - which was real fun, one-handed - and finished cutting up his cabbage.
I was sitting in my recliner, waiting for time to leave for my TOPS meeting, and suddenly - BOOM - I was having a sugar low. Just like that. I guess the stress of the cut thumb was too much. So, right before my meeting and weigh-in, I had to eat. I grabbed a package of Nutty Bars off the kitchen table and ate those. Needless to say, between lunch and that snack, when I weighed in, I showed a gain of 4.6 pounds. Hopefully, though, next week, I will show a huge loss!
When I got home, Mr. Lazybones (yeah, right) Ron had not cooked supper. He had fallen asleep. So we got his cabbage and my bacon into the oven, and we finally ate supper around 8:30-8:45. It was good, but eating that late isn't good.
Dead guys on TV the rest of night, and now my bed is calling me.
No plans for tomorrow or the rest of the week. WhooHoo.

A war to do anything today...
Monday, July 20, 2015
Today, it really was a war against myself to do anything. I didn't feel so good today - I didn't feel bad, I just didn't feel good. I didn't feel like moving, I didn't feel like doing a darn thing, and I didn't do too very much.
I have been having trouble sleeping, so since I had no reason to get up this morning, I took sleeping pills (ibuprofen PM) last night. I was still awake until after 1:00, and then finally turned off the light. As a result of that, I slept until noon today! After waking, I laid in bed and did my usual reading and tableting for a while, then got up.
I made myself do my PT exercises - I had convinced myself that I must start doing them again, and thought maybe that doing them would light a fire under myself - and then started doing the dishes sitting there from the weekend. I took lots of breaks while the next batch of dishes were soaking, but I eventually got them all done.
Ron got home before I finished - the last pans were still soaking - but, by God, I did get them finished! We decided on cheese weenies for supper, so after he took his shower, we started in on dirtying on more dishes. Blah.
An evening of watching dead guys on TV followed, but - you know what?? I don't think it rained today! Hip, hip, hooray!
Doctor appointment tomorrow - just what I need, lunch out before my TOPS meeting. Whew.

I'm baa - aaack -- again.
Wednesday, July 15, 2015 -
Sunday, July 19, 2015
Well, let's try this again.
I'm baaa-aack!
Let's hope the pute trouble, the thunderstorms and tornado watches and warnings, the electric going out - and staying out for hours - and all that kind of crap that has been happening to make me pull my hair out by the handfuls is over. Let's all hope. For my sanity.
Yes, we had rain, rain, and more good rain all this week. I sincerely think that it has, in some capacity, rained every single day since the 4th of July. Maybe only a small shower at night, but usually a thunderstorm and then some, and it just keeps on coming. So much that the ark jokes have started...
The week passed with little happening, and on Saturday morning I did my final weigh-in for this go-round in my Biggest Loser contest. Blah. I really did go the wrong way! I gained weight, and even though I lost inches on my arms and thighs, the inches I gained on my waist and hips more than balanced that out. Phooey!! No money in my pocket this time around.
I decided to do it one more time. 12 weeks from now will be October, so it will end before any of the holidays, and I CAN DO THIS!! I have motivation now (ye gods, I can only do better, right?), and I most definitely want to be "better" than what I am now for, or at, the end of the year.
I have a goal. I have motivation. I have determination. All those were missing before, so.....here goes.
Today, Sunday, was supposed to be a 'normal' Sunday. Church and lunch, then home for 'normal' stuff. Ron and I went to Georgetown to lunch, and as we got close, we came up to Road Closed signs. Right on 125, the main artery between Georgetown and the world. What?? It seems that all the rain (storms overnight - surprise) has caused the road -- the road -- to buckle and is unpassable. Water going down the hill had even washed cars and firefighters down the hill...ai yi yi!...
We eventually got to Georgetown by going around the way Ron usually goes to work. Back roads that way were also closed because of high water - and we could still see water standing there - and we could also see how high the water had gotten.
After we ate, we were on our way home, and I got a phone call. Did we want some garden green beans? Oh, yeah, we do! So we went to our friends house to pick these up and ended up staying there for a while, talking and then played a game of dominoes. We finally got home a little after 5:00!!
I checked my Facebook and found all kinds of information about 125 in Georgetown, and also about a family that got washed away in a flash flood outside of Ripley. So sad.
Bert called and asked me to come over to pick up some green beans and tomatoes that she had for me and she didn't want them to get wet (they were sitting on her picnic table) and she didn't want to have to put them away and get them back out tomorrow (animals, you know). So, around quarter til 8, I left to go get them. I had to put gas in Ron's truck, so I had to go the long way - up through Bethel - and we got them loaded just as it started raining. I took off, and then the radio played a weather alert. A TORNADO WARNING!!! Clermont County, starting with Amelia and coming down 125 toward Bethel, but also spreading out over toward Felicity. Wonderful. I did this before, you know, and this is not fun. I drive as fast as I can and get home, get our shelter and shelter gear together, then went back outside and took pictures of those funky clouds.
It finally blew over, and all was good. We did not lose power this time - yay! - and all our friends are accounted for, also. All is good in our little world.
Maybe tomorrow will be back to "normal." Define "normal."

I'm baaa-aaaaack!
June 29, 2015 - July 14, 2015
I. AM. BACK.
Hip, Hip, Hooray!!
I have gone through Hell not having internet at home these last two weeks, and I hope if it ever happens to you, that you can get your problem fixed a heckuva lot faster than I got this fixed!
But, by golly, I got the problem fixed!
Not much has been happening in my life that is out of the ordinary, boring, normal day-to-day life that I usually write about, but let's see what I can remember to tell you.
Hmmm - end of June? Nothing. We didn't have a TOPS meeting on the 30th because Bethel had no electricity. Beginning of July? Nothing much, except 4th of July! Oh, what a day that was.
I started it off by weighing in. I lost 1.8 pounds according to the Wii, which was good, I thought. (I later found out that I was the Biggest Loser this week!! Yay, me!!) I now have hope for the last two weeks of this go-round!
Then Ron, Corgan, and I spent the day getting the house, food, and yard ready for the evening - we had people coming over for a cookout and entertainment, starting around 6:00. I wanted everything done by 3:00 so that we'd have time to chill, then shower and change into our glad rags and not look all stressed out. We were done by 2:00, which was a good thing. The party got started, and we had a wonderful time!
Bert spent the night, and had just gotten up when Ron and I got home after church and lunch. Josh and all came back to have leftovers for supper that night, and we all played games, and Bert ended up spending the night again. The next morning, she and I went over to FeedMill in Felicity for lunch, then she went home. What a great time with a great friend!
The rest of July has been spent going uptown to the library every so often to get on the pute and check my email and Facebook, but MAN is that a pain in the ass.
My July 7th weigh-in at TOPS? I lost weight! Only .4 of a pound, but I'll take it!!
Chelle and I (with a little input from Josh and Jean) decided that we needed to do our own Biggest Loser contest for Christmas, since we were all getting crazy fat (haha - not my words) again. So, on Sunday, July 12th, we went down to Josh's when we took Corgan home after having him all weekend, since that's where we'll be come Christmas. We each weighed in on their Wii (which weighs us different than our Wii), and then Chelle fixed us a nice supper of fish fillets and french fries. Yeah - good start, right? I thought it wouldn't be so bad since I had weighed myself that morning and I had lost another .7 of a pound according to my Wii. Boy, was I wrong!! Ai, yi, yi!!
I have some work to do.
I didn't go to my TOPS meeting tonight - it was thunderstorming again this afternoon and the electric went out again and this Mifi thingie and I have a headache from hell anyway. Ugh.

Getting back to normal

6/27
When I got up this morning, I couldn't find my fellers anywhere. I finally spotted them across the road fishing! After I did my weigh-in (and being very happy to weigh exactly the same as last week!), I got dressed and went across the road to find out the plans for the day. They had already caught EIGHT fish, and didn't really want to stop fishing, but Ron wanted to go shopping with me so that he could get a new battery for his motorcycle, so they gathered everything up and came home to clean the fish and get ready to go shopping.
We stopped at Arby's for a bite of lunch, then went shopping. It was a very good shopping trip - we got a lot of stuff we have needed, but have been letting go. We also found the movie Jaws because we had talked about it last night and Corgan has never seen it, so it was perfect timing to find it. We got home from shopping, put away the perishables, and watched Jaws. Josh, Chelle, and Jean came in as we were watching the movie, and Josh decided to go fishing instead of watching the movie. Ron had to go with him, and Chelle chose to go with him. Jean stayed and watched the movie with Corgan, and I was watching the movie while making supper -- cooking up all those fish.
So we had a nice fishy supper. Catfish, bass, bluegill, macaroni & cheese, green beans, peas, and tomatoes. Yummy!
After supper, the guys cut up the fish Josh caught, and then, since it was windy and rainy, we played a board game instead of having a fire. We had fun!
6/28
Sunday. Church and lunch. More shopping.
After church, we had lunch at Frisch's with our friends John and Beverly, then we went to Walgreen's, Jungle Jim's (we bought ribs for our big cookout next weekend!), then back to WalMart for gasoline and the groceries we forgot yesterday.
We went to the Dairy Isle and got ice cream (dip cones) to celebrate the last day of his vacation.
Then home so Ron could mow and charge the motorcycle battery he bought yesterday.
Back to the real world tomorrow. Yay, us!

Yay, us!

Vacation! Well, a couple of days away...

VACATION TIME! Ron's vacation week, anyway. We didn't really have anything planned, but then we got to thinking - why not go away for an overnight trip? - and we started thinking of where is close enough to drive to one day and come back the next, but still feel that we went somewhere.
We thought of "Amishville" - mid-Ohio (Berlin, Holmes Co., etc.); Gatlinburg; Brown County (Nashville), Indiana; and then finally settled on Marblehead and Put-in-Bay (Lake Erie), up in Sandusky, Ohio.
Since I have TOPS on Tuesday evenings, we decided to go on Wednesday and come back on Thursday. We asked Bert and Teresa to go with us. Bert agreed, but Teresa said she just couldn't manage it right now.
Bright and early Wednesday morning - 8am - off we go!!
Let me tell you -- do not ever EVER EVER believe Google Maps exclusively -- I mean, I thought they were better than MapQuest, but DAMN! They sent us on TWO "scenic tours" that were totally unnecessary, because we ended up back on the same road (once 75N) that we were already on! Now, true, there may have been some road construction going on in those spots at some time, but in that case, they need to update a little more often. I guess I was a little to blame, too, for not reading through the steps and/or not checking other places for directions, but blindly trusting them.
We FINALLY get up there a couple hours after we expected to, and went straight to Marblehead Lighthouse, walked around and enjoyed the place, then we went back to Sandusky and our motel. They remembered us! That was a great feeling - we hadn't been there for oh, seven, eight years and they remembered us. They are the nicest people. It was a shame that they had to fill in their pool, but they made a very nice terrace/patio with a grill and all for their patrons, but...
We had an early evening, because traveling is tiring and we've got to get up early tomorrow!
We'd decided to do the Kelley's Island and Put-in-Bay loop on the Goodtime I boat. It leaves the dock at 9:30am and returns at 6:30pm. But it gives you plenty of time on each island, and I'm pretty sure my back will stand up to the putt-putt (relatively) speed of being on the lake, as opposed to the rush of Jet Express. We've done this boat tour before, and it works for us. This will put us a little later than we thought getting on the way home, but we'll live.
We set every alarm we could and we dragged our lazy asses up and left in plenty of time. We got big hugs from the lady at the motel as we all said goodbye, and she thanked us so many times for remembering them. We drove to the pier, parked, got our tickets and boarded the boat, watching the cloudy skies the whole time. Ron was crying about his sweatshirt, but finally braved it without even a jacket. It was warm, just cloudy and most probably was going to rain. We rode on the open top deck of the boat, and it was quite enjoyable. Bert stood up at the front rail so she could get her eyes full the whole way.
As we were on Kelley's Island, it did start raining, but it was just a drizzle.
We only went to Inscription Rock and then back to the Glacial Grooves, and it was as we were coming back from the Grooves that it started raining. I took a couple pictures at a park as Ron went into a store (he wanted chips), then we went back to the boat. I stayed in the bottom (the enclosed lower deck) of the boat, while Ron and Bert went back up top. But it was rainy, even though there was a canopy-type top, and the floor was getting wet, so they soon came back down.
We got over to Put-in-Bay. We got ourselves some lunch, did some shopping and checked out the merry-go-round, then we went over to Perry's Monument. Bert and I went up in the Monument, walking the 37 steps before taking the elevator to the top. It was pouring down the rain by this time, and we were the only two up there, which was nice. The Rangers were super nice to us, even if they thought we were crazy, and answered all of Bert's questions (I've been there before, remember) and just talked to us. Once again, though, I didn't get to see Canada. You can only see Canada on clear days. Phooey!
When we came back down, we headed back to the boat. We were a little early, but at this point, we didn't care. We'd seen and done all we wanted to!
We got back to Sandusky and headed for home.
We stopped for supper new North Baltimore at a restaurant called the Iron Skillet, but I don't think it's like any Iron Skillet around here. It was in a truck stop-type plaza, and man did they have some cool stuff in that plaza! Too bad I didn't have more time and money - I could have done some serious Christmas shopping! - but, we just ate supper on our little skillet shaped plates, and then we hit the road again.
Not long after that, a terrible, terrible thunderstorm started. It was AWFUL!! Driving down 75S, we were doing around 30mph. Semis were passing us, but only semis. Other cars were not going very fast at all, and occasionally, I had to pass another car going even slower. Every single car, and some semis, had their 4-way flashers on. After 10 miles or so, Bert started saying that she wanted to stop for the night somewhere. Ron and I thought that we'd drive out of the storm, but we drove mile after mile and it didn't ease up. So, we started watching for the blue Lodging signs and we passed two exits that had Gas and Food, but no Lodging. Wonderful. Finally, we started spotting signs that said Lodging ahead, and we were all relieved. We drove out of the storm getting off of that exit, but it started raining again as we were getting to the hotel. We unloaded the car under the overhang by the front door, and only I got wet as I drove to the door closest to our room and ran in. So, we spent another night on the road just above Dayton.
This morning, we took advantage of the breakfast available to us and took our time getting ready to hit the road again. We didn't get going again until close to 10:00, so we didn't get on "home turf" until after noon. Chelle and Corgan were at Josh's work with him, and the three of them met us at Bob Evans for some lunch, and that was a very satisfying end to our little vacation.
We dropped Bert off, then got home, got everything carried in, and Ron left to go pick up his paycheck. I took a nap.
When I woke up, Ron was here. Corgan was here. And our Friday night had begun.
The guys went fishing across the road, even though it was starting to rain, and came back when it started to lightning. We each found our own supper, and the TV is on now. Mythbusters tonight. Whee!

Here I am...

Ai yi yi!!
My last blog was on Friday, June 12th....I am so sorry....I can only say that my life has been so boring, so blah, that I didn't want to bore you with it. I have had no luck with losing any weight - I am still stuck on this mesa - not a plateau - in this weight-loss journey, and I am at a loss as to how to get going again. 9 months in this same place is long enough!
Luckily, tonight when I weighed in at my TOPS meeting, my weight was exactly the same as last week, so that's a good thing. Not a gain, which a step in the right direction, even though it's not a loss. That's definitely a good thing, especially since Ron and I took Jean out to breakfast/lunch for her birthday, which was yesterday, today. (You'd think I would learn not to do that on a Tuesday...) But the way this vacation week of Ron's is working out, that's just the way it happened.
So I was very happy!
He was supposed to work on her truck today, but he did it yesterday. Today, we took my car over to Jeff Wyler to get the ignition recall thing fixed. Ron has been pestering me about getting it done, but I wasn't particularly worried about it. So, since Jean was coming to the house today to hang out with me while Ron was working on her truck, we just took her with us and treated her to a meal - another small birthday treat. A different way to hang out with her sister...
We did a couple of other errands on the way back home, and then just did the hanging out here for a little while when we got back. She finally went home a little after 3:00.
I got things all together here at home - laundry and dishes all put away, everything put where I want it, so now Ron and I are ready to enjoy a couple of lazy days of his vacation!

A long, HOT day...
Friday, June 12, 2015
I woke this at 8:45 - right smack dab on the dot. Weird. Why in the hell do I wake so early in the morning? I know for a fact that it was after 2 when I turned the light off last night. I sure hope that means I will sleep good tonight!
I did my usual tableting and reading, debating every few minutes when did I want to get up and go do my errands? but always deciding "in a minute." I finally got up around 10:30 and moved out to my recliner, and dithered about when to leave for another couple of hours. So, it was going on 1:00 before I finally was dressed and actually heading uptown.
I did my errands - banks, banks, and more good banks - and then I succumbed to temptation. I went to Gold Star for my lunch. I had my usual - a GoRito and chili cheese fries - and then headed for home, forgetting to stop and get a bag of ice, which was my last errand. Silly me! I had to text Ron to ask him to stop and bring one home...
Once home, I noticed that some tiger lilies were blooming over on the hill, so I got my camera and walked around the house, taking pictures of the plants and flowers that are blooming or ready to bloom, and growing since we've planted them. I made sure to have my pedometer with me, and that gave me an extra 300+ steps!
Once back in the house, though, I just collapsed into my recliner because it's hotter that hell out there and I felt so weak after walking around the house. I couldn't believe it! I am such a wuss!
After a little bit, I roused myself and did a half hour on the Wii, but then it was back into the recliner.
I was still in my recliner when Josh and Corgan came in, and after Josh left, Corgan and I just enjoyed the A/C and sat there talking to each other. Ron finally came in and he hadn't even texted me - so we got gypped out of walking out to meet him. Oh, well, it was probably for the better.
Corgan, of course, took over the TV. He was watching How It's Made, but then he found a movie to watch (Wimpy Kid) so it wasn't so bad then. At least we got a break on the same freakin' commercials! Now he's watching Tanked, and we argue every now and then over whether or not that one guy is an asshole or not. I say yes, he says no. (Yep, we're strange!)
I went out into the kitchen and did up the dishes, since I hadn't done them this morning, and Ron just stayed in his recliner with his eyes closed.
I'm gonna have a bowl of cereal and go to bed!
No solid plans for tomorrow, although there are tentative ones. We shall see what transpires...

Getting ready for vacation!
Thursday, June 11, 2015
I woke up just before ten this morning, and stayed there in bed doing my usual tableting and reading, waiting for my friend Bert to call me when she was ready to do some running. She was going to follow me to Tire Discounters to pick me up so we could run errands and have lunch, then go back and get my car when they were done with it.
She finally called a little after one, and off we went. When I dropped my car off, he told me that it would be 5:30-6:00 before it would be ready. What??!! I wasn't quite expecting that long of a wait, but what the hell? It is what it is. Me and Bert can kill that much time easily! We texted Teresa to see if she was up to joining us, but she wasn't, so it was just the two of us.
We left TD and headed on down 125. We had both done our other errands on the way done the road, so it was just time for lunch. After some discussion, we decided on Butterbee's, since we hadn't been there in a while.
We got the Tailgate Sampler first, then took our time choosing our true 'meals.' She finally got the Old School Burger with waffle fries, and I got the Major (Minor?) League Burger, which I added bacon to, with waffle fries. We then sat there enjoying our lunch and talking, talking, talking, as we usually do.
Luckily, TD called me a little after three, saying that they were done with my tire rotation, and I could come pick up my car when I was ready. Man, what a difference from 5:30! We still sat there for a little while, enjoying the time away from home, which was really for Bert (her home situation is a little rough right now) and I didn't want to rush her. It was enough to know that my car was done.
We went to get my car when we were ready, and she waited while I went in to get my keys. She's a great friend. We have a friendly little argument all the time over who has the better friends. Ha!
Ron texted me that he was on his way home as I was picking up my keys, too, so by the time I got home, he was there, too. That was nice.
He and I spent some time looking over his work calendar and figuring out how many of his vacation days he needed to claim over the next two weeks (he gets paid a week behind), so that we'll have spending money if we decide to do something the week he's on vacation, and then the week he is ON vacation, so that his paycheck won't be so weak that following week. It's a fine line....
We watched an episode of Starsky and Hutch, which he fell asleep during. Then he went to take his shower, then he made his own supper - an egg sandwich - because I wasn't hungry. We watched Bones and dead guys - well, I watched Bones and dead guys because, you guessed it, he fell back asleep - and that was our evening. I did eat a bowl of cereal around ten. I don't want to have a sugar low during the night!
No plans tomorrow, really. I do have to go uptown and do some banking, but that's all. I might have some lunch, but, then again, I might not. I really enjoyed having lost that 5 pounds!

A rather boring day
Wednesday, June 10, 2015
Not much happening today. I got up after a bit of tableting and reading (okay, a lot...), but the laundry is caught up and there aren't enough dishes to run a sinkful of water, in my august opinion, so I didn't. I'm not sure if it was supper last night, or other reasons, but I am having digestive issues today. I am making many trips to the bathroom, and it is getting old FAST.
I piddled around a bit, then did some Wii exercises, then just sat in my recliner and did nothing. I wasn't feeling real great anyway, because my back tells me that rain is still in the air, but the 25 minutes of Wii helped me a little, along with my lunch of chicken salad and walnuts.
When Ron texted me, I told him that I wasn't walking. I didn't want to take the chance of being away from the bathroom that long or that far. By this time, I have already gone running four times. By the time Ron pulled into the driveway, I was in there for the fifth time. Ugh. I'm starting to wonder if I should start worrying.
Since he was home, I went to lie down and I did drift off for a short nap, which surprised me.
When he came in from doing whatever he was doing, we discussed supper. I still felt awful - even worse, if possible, because now I felt as if I could puke. I thought to test my sugar and, sure enough, I was having a low. (My number was 74) It was weird, though, because I wasn't sweating or shaking or anything that usually portends a sugar low. I ate some jelly beans and sat in my recliner until I felt like making supper.
It was after 8:00 when I finally started bacon and sausage for our supper. Nothing like breakfast for supper, right?
Tomorrow, I'm going down to get the tires on my car rotated. Bert will follow me in her car and we'll go back for my car. Who knows what will happen in between the dropping off and the picking up?
Goal achieved! Happy dance and Reward!

6/8
Monday. Ugh. Yeah, I got up and played Happy Homemaker. A load of regular in the washer and then dishes. Dishes, dishes, dishes. I had done some of them on Sunday - not many - and now it was time to finish the rest of them up. What a job!
Then our friend Laura came over to play Wii games with me. We do a little contest-like thing - whoever 'wins' that particular game/exercise gets to choose the next one. She got here around 11:45, and we played on the Wii until after 2:15, so we did this for a good long time. But with each one of us resting while the other played, it wasn't as bad as it sounds, and we played just as many balance games as we did more energetic games like steps and biking, so it all worked out okay.
When Laura left, I finished up the housework (getting the clothes into the dryer, etc.), ate some lunch (three slices of cheese) and then just collapsed into my recliner. My back was telling me that rain was moving in, and I let it rule the rest of the day.
When Ron texted me, I told him I wasn't walking. When he got home, we discussed supper, but I wanted a good result tomorrow night - my goal was to lose those five pounds I had gained last week! - so I just wanted chicken noodle soup. He had his frozen Chinese thing, and that was that.
Sunday night, I watched Part 1 of a new show on my dead guy channel. It's called Serial Thriller - Angel of Decay, and I figured out ten minutes in which serial killer it is about. I should have known sooner - as soon as they showed the part of the country, but... - so I felt kinda proud of myself about that. I think they did a very good job putting this together, and not letting any information out. I watched Part 2 tonight, and am still impressed with how they've done it. I do think, though, that the "main character" is mis-cast. He's supposed to be a clean-cut average-looking guy, and this actor is dark and raggedy-looking (to me, anyway).
I went to bed, fell asleep while reading (do you know how often THAT happens?) and slept long and hard all night. All. Night. Like a rock.
6/9
Today, I was lazy. After waking and doing my normal tableting and reading, I finally got up around 2. TWO! Yep, lazy.
I just piddled around here in the house, not really doing a lot because my back is telling that the rain is not over. Maybe not today, or even overnight, but it's not over. I did peel potatoes so that we could have snausages for supper tonight.
When Ron texted me, I quickly got dressed and walked out to meet him. It took me five minutes to get on the road, and I thought I'd be lucky to even get to Carol's mailbox, but then I passed that. Then I made it to, and passed, the curves. Then I made it to our halfway mark. I'm thinking, "Where the hell is Ron? What's going on?" but I kept walking. I made it all the way to the farmhouse before he finally showed up - that's darn near 3/4 of a mile! Yay, me! He said that as he was leaving work, someone waved him down and was talking to him and wouldn't stop.
We got back home and I went to take my shower (TOPS meeting, remember), then we talked about supper and all before I left. He wasn't happy, because he says that he can't cook fried potatoes, but I think he'll be fine.
I go to my meeting, and taking a deep breath, weigh in. (Remember: goal is to lose 5 pounds because I gained 4.6 last week), and HALLELUJAH!!! I did it!! I met my goal!! I lost 5.8 pounds!! <happy dance> That means, even with taking off the 4.6, I lost an extra 1.2 pounds! Yay, me!! Staaving, dahling, over the last two days, and all that exercise (the Evil E word) did some good - I guess I should keep it up.
When I got home, Ron had supper on, but it wasn't done. He hadn't got it started when he was supposed to because of a phone call, so I had to turn it up and finish cooking it myself. We ended up not eating until 9:00, but man, oh, man, was it good!! Good, good, good! Super duper yummy. I enjoyed every single bite.
I watched the end - Part 3 - of Serial Thriller while eating (well, the rerun of Part 2, then Part 3) and it was excellent. There will be a follow-up show on Sunday at 9:00 to kinda wrap up all the little details. I guess they thought people would have a lot of questions after watching this....they did stuff a lot in at the end, but that's to be expected. Police business moves slow, you know.
Nothing planned tomorrow, but I might go down and get my tires rotated. Maybe. We'll see how I feel then.

OMG! What a week!!
Wednesday, June 3, 2015 -
Sunday, June 7, 2015
What a week! I have totally killed my back this week, and I paid for it every single night.
I hurt so bad every night it wasn't even funny, as the saying goes. I went to bed early most nights (that means before eleven) and I even went right to sleep most of those nights, too. But, damn, it was rough and tough. I hurt. Bad.
Don't get me wrong. I have a pretty high threshold for pain, I think, so hurting can be growth, right? I don't know what I, and my back, can do if I don't TRY to do stuff. But I don't think I'll be pushing it to the limit like I did this week for a long, long time again now. I've learned from this. I don't need another smackdown from above.
I did have some good times in there, too.
I went to lunch with Bert AND Teresa on Thursday! Yes, Teresa went, too! I was SO happy that day! Even though we went to Longhorn again - even the waitress teased us - we all enjoyed it. The chairs got way too hard way too soon, but there was no way in the world was I going to admit that to them, and we just talked and talked and talked, as we usually do. It was great!
Friday and Saturday was the Rummage Sale itself. I spent the day - all the hours of the Rummage Sale - up at church, doing whatever needed to be done. I made sure to alternate sitting and walking/standing, but it was still a lot different than what I'm used to. Oh, how I hate being a wuss!!
On Saturday, after it was over, there was still a lot of baked goods left, so we decided to bring the stuff up to sell after Mass that night. So, I volunteered to do that and got back home a little after six.
Finally, finally - my week is over!!
Tonight, the rest of the family has come up for supper and enjoying the fire pit. Little did they know that 1) I wasn't going to be home for a bit, and 2) we were going to move the fire pit!
We discussed how I wanted to move things around, and Josh helped Ron move things while I went in the house and cooked supper. I made my shrimp dish, herb & cheese Rice-a-Roni, broccoli, and cabbage. We ate outside at the picnic table, since it was nice and breezy outside and not very hot.
Then we sat over at the "new" conversation/fire pit - the porch swing got moved over by the glider chair patio, with the fire pit in front of, and in the middle of, them. Yard chairs completed the circle around the fire pit. The porch swing's back is to the shed, if that gives you a picture in your head. We roasted marshmallows and cheese weenies while sitting by the fire.
They left for home, and Ron and I sat out by the fire for a little bit, then came in to go to bed, because I was really tired and wanted this week to be over.
Sunday. Church and lunch. That's what we did.
After church, we went to the new Mexican place - Don Rigo - down by Kroger. It wasn't bad. Not bad at all. Ron had something called a Burrito Barzon, and I had my chimichangas. Total cost of our lunch (before tip) was under 20 bucks!
We came home and just lazed around the rest of the day.
Back to normal tomorrow. Yay for normal!

Paying for the good times
Tuesday, June 2, 2015
I got up to the damn alarm going off at 9am again this morning. Man, this is too much like work!
I grumbled and groaned, but finally got up and did the few tasks I had to do before leaving to get up at the church just after 10:00.
I dug right into emptying boxes and lining things up on the tables, and it sure seemed that the stuff must have multiplied overnight, because there is as much stuff in the middle of the floor as when we started yesterday morning! I know that can't be true, but it sure seemed so. Wow, what a job.
I worked until about 11:45, then I had to leave because I was going to take Bert to get her license plates renewed. I was running a little late, but I wanted to finish that one last box.
I stopped at the bank, then went on to Bert's. We got over to Batavia and to the license bureau. Not so long later, there was an announcement, "Ladies and gentlemen: Our system is down, statewide. If you wish to leave, you may come back at another time, and if you wish to wait, we're doing our best to get it back online as soon as possible."
GREAT! We decided to wait, since we were already there, she was already late getting her plates renewed, and nothing else was planned except lunch. So, there we sat. As we were sitting there, another friend/classmate of ours came in and sat by us and we all talked, so it didn't seem too bad of a wait. And, luckily, it was only about an hour and a half or so before they finally called her number and we got out of there.
We decided to go to Longhorn for our lunch, since I had to weigh in at my TOPS meeting tonight, and I'd rather have my almost-perfect salad instead of 'heavier' food. Too bad Longhorn also has such delicious bread, and yummy corn fritter appetizers...
So, long story short, when I weighed in at my meeting, I had gained 4.6 pounds since last week. BOO!! I figured there would be a gain, because of the late lunch (we hadn't gotten there til 2:30) and then the bread...) but, damn! That part was a shock. I've been eating better - at least making more conscious choices - and upping my exercise a bit. I even got on the Wii today when I got home after dropping Bert off. Yep, even after all the up and down of emptying the boxes and all yesterday and today. I guess more intensive stuff is called for...ugh. I really hate that evil E word.
Ron hadn't made any supper tonight, because I had told him that I had had such a late lunch and wasn't hungry. I'm going to have a bowl of cereal (Basic 4) when I am finished here.
Back up to church in the morning, and I sure hope those boxes haven't multiplied again!!
