A Most Wonderful Weekend!!

Friday was another Happy Homemaker Day this week.  After all the errand-running yesterday, I got to stay at home today and work on our big rearranging project.  I moved stuff and moved stuff and then moved stuff some more.  It was exhausting work!  I did take many breaks, but I got it done - at least, I thought I did.  When Ron got home, he found more that I had overlooked, so we moved that, too.  Then we had to go into the other room and get things straightened up in there, too, because it was a disaster area in there.
But the living room looks very nice now, even if different.  I can't wait to show it off to the family on Sunday, then I can post my pictures and show it off to everyone else!

On Saturday morning, I managed to get my lazy ass up to get up to church at 8:30am for the seminar/retreat that I wanted to go to.  I made it by the skin of my teeth, and I wasn't even the last person to come in!  I felt good about that - I love it when I'm not late, or the last one!  The bad news was that the priest who was to give the seminar hurt his leg/knee (most probably his ACL) and could not stand, and had to cancel at the last minute.  So....we started with Mass, then went to the Center for our breakfast, which was scheduled to start the event, but then we just had an impromptu question and answer session instead of what was scheduled.  Then we got to leave at 11am instead of 3pm, so my friend Donna and I went up to Frisch's for a bite of lunch, since the lunch part of our day went the way of the dodo bird.  We had a nice visit, since it was just the two of us, and it was very enjoyable.  When I got home, Ron was confused and I had to explain to him all about the day and then I went in the house and played on the pute while he continued working outside.
He came in around 3:30, as we had planned, to take his shower and all, so we could go out for our big Date Night before places got too crowded for a Saturday night.  I let Ron choose where we're going, and he finally chose Logan's Steakhouse over in Eastgate.  We were going to Meijer, anyway, to see if they had water (we are water snobs), so - that worked for us.
We got seated right away, and we had delicious meals - Ron had ribs with a salad and a baked potato, and I had a country fried steak meal with mashed potatoes and a salad - and we just delighted in being out (which means Ron gorged on peanuts!) just us two.

Sunday - church and lunch! - yeah, right.  Not this week.
First of all, the family is coming up, so we are going right home after church so that I can get lunch (dinner) started - that was the plan. But, as always, Change of Plans!  As we were coming home, as we were moving in traffic at a red light in town, traffic suddenly stopped but Ron didn't.  A little WHACK on the bumper of the vehicle in front of us, and damned if she didn't want to file a police report - even though her vehicle (an Odyssey) maybe had a dent in the bumper, and you know what my front end looks like.  So, WE call the police (I don't know why she didn't) and sit there and sit there and sit there and deal with all that.  Of course, Ron ends up with a ticket for assured clear distance, as we knew he would, so - for once! - he is going to cost us some money instead of me!
I am texting Josh this whole time, letting him know what was happening, and I could finally let him know that they could leave and head for our house.  Finally!
We got home (I wanted to see their faces when they walked in and saw our 'rearranging.') and I started cooking, and when they pulled in, we watched their reactions.  They didn't disappoint.  Nothing.  Sigh.  Jean finally said something about it - one sentence - and that was that.  Okay, that's over with, let's get on with food!  And that's how things go in our family....

We had a very pleasant day.  It was a beautiful day, and we had the doors and windows open, as well as fans blowing because it got hot with the stove and oven cooking, so the house was tolerable.  It was too hot to eat outside because there was no shade in the back yard yet, so we stayed inside.
I made my little shrimp dish, buttered noodles, and asparagus.  They had brought all the makings for salad, and we stuffed ourselves silly, as usual.
Then we cleared the table off and played poker.  Chelle won and won and won.  Josh, Ron, and I didn't win a single game of poker - it was all Chelle and Corgan!  (Well, Ron may have won one...)
When we got tired of playing poker, we played Pass the Ace, aka Screw Your Neighbor.  We play as many hands as there are dealers (everyone deals once), so we played five times.  Chelle won THREE of these games, too!!  We told her to stop and buy a lottery ticket on the way home!

After that, we did go outside and made a fire in the fire pit.  We knew it was close to 80 degrees outside, and still daylight, but - a fire! in April! - roasted marshmallows and cheese weenies?  Who could resist?  Not us!  So that's what we did.
It was a beautiful evening, and we had a wonderful time just enjoying the outdoors and the grilled/roasted food.

They finally had to leave to get home in time to prepare for school and work tomorrow.  It was kinda sad to see the day end, but every one does.

Tomorrow - Monday - is my visit to the hematologist.  Ai yi yi!
