Independence Day - the GREAT American holiday!  Hope your weekend was fun, happy, and safe!

Ours was certainly eventful and busy.  It was go, go, go - right up until today, the holiday itself.
Friday was a usual day for both of us.  Ron went to work and I went down the road to do my shopping.  The fun started that evening, though...
We were invited over to friends' for an evening of food, fun, and friendship, and we made arrangements to have Corgan on Saturday instead of Friday and went.  I made my dish of Corn Salad as our contribution to the meal, and I brought home an empty bowl (I was happy!) so the others there all enjoyed it.  We started to play a game of dominoes, but there were twelve of us and spent too much time talking, so we didn't get very far.  We got home right around midnight, which is usual when us "church people" get together.

On Saturday, we went down to pick up Corgan.  That was one of the concessions of giving up Friday night, you know - us driving down to get him instead of them driving him to us.  We hung out a little bit, then the three of us headed back.
Once we got here, the guys went on outside to start mowing, weedeating, and all that.  They had to get the outside ready for our big 4th of July party tomorrow night.  I stayed in the house and started with getting the house ready, taking lots of breaks as I have to do.  Between the cooking of the few things I was making and the 'company' cleaning I wanted to give the house, there was quite a bit to do!
Ron got tired on us and quit a lot earlier than either Corgan or me, and we decided to go sit out at a fire.  It was a beautiful evening!  He had also brought smoke bombs that he wanted to throw out and show off.  We also picked a few strawberries from our plants and enjoyed those, too, while sitting out there.  Eventually, Ron woke up and came out and joined us.
When we went back in, I wanted to continue working on cleaning the house - we still had vacuuming, mopping, dishes, etc. to do - but I got outvoted and convinced that we had plenty of time tomorrow between church and company.  MEN!!

Sunday.  Church and lunch, right?  Yes, to start the day.  At church, I received the Sacrament of the Sick (finally) and I felt so much better immediately.  I've been waiting quite a while and thought this was going to happen a couple of weeks ago, and was confused because it had not happened.  But now it has, and all is calm in my soul.
After church, we went out to lunch, and today we went down to the Barn after going to Walgreen's to pick up some prescriptions.  Corgan enjoys going there, also, so we didn't have any arguments out of him, and that was good.  Ron got his fried chicken, I got the Bacon Cheeseburger and fries, and Corgan got a Country Fried Steak with Cheesy Jalepeno Potatoes, and we all enjoyed our meals!
Then it was time to come home and clean, clean, clean like crazy - company coming, you know.  We did get everything done, but, damn, did I need a break!  Those fellers are slave drivers!

We forgot to stop at Bert's as we were supposed to, and Ron and Corgan went back over there and I managed to take a break while they were gone, but then, too soon, it was time for us to have everything done and just be ready.
Everyone finally started coming over and it was time for the party to start, and that's what happened - our big 4th of July celebration happened over the next few hours.  We had a Change of Plans because rain moved in and the Pyro Boys had to do their thing rather quickly before total dark, just so everyone would not get absolutely soaked.  It was a little different, but rather fun!
As a result, everyone left a little sooner than they did other years, but it was a good celebration.  Bert spent the night, and Ron had to go to bed a little after 10:00, anyway.  He was the only one who had to get up to go to work on Monday morning, poor guy.
...and our holiday celebration gets over.  WhooHoo!!  What fun!!

Monday.  The actual 4th of July.
Ron went to work.  I played Happy Homemaker, although Bert was here to talk to me.
Ron got home before noon - YAY!!

Talk, talk, talk all day.  Bert left.  Ron and I watched dead guys or game shows.  WhooHoo!!

...and it's all over now.
