Thursday
This was our get-Ruth-moved day, and that is what we did. Veronica, her hubby, her dad, and I met at Ruth's - well, really Tammy's - and collected Ruth, then went on to her storage and got it emptied. Yes, even though it was raining. It wasn't storming, just a steady rain, so it wasn't too very bad. We did get wet, but we didn't get miserable. We got it back to Ruth's, which is next door to Tammy's, and got the trucks emptied. Her storage is now empty and her trailer is full of furniture and boxes!
When we were done, I went to Country Inn and got myself some lunch. A double-decker BLT with steak fries today instead of the big breakfast - I was ready for something different, but you can't go wrong with bacon! After that, I headed for home, but Ron saw me turning out of the road and called me, so I turned around and met him at the bank. He came out after cashing his paycheck and we divvied up the money, so now I went to put gasoline in my car and drove up to Bethel to make the deposit instead of going home. Nothing like extra errands thrown into the day, right?
When I finally got home, I ended up falling asleep in the recliner (again!) and woke up not too long before Ron came home. We had our nice usual boring evening at home then, which included doing our weigh-in on the Wii. We both lost weight! Ron lost about 6 pounds, and I lost 1.4. WhooHoo!
Friday
Friday was my usual shopping day, even though I didn't much feel like it. But I made myself do it, because the weekend was already planned out. I stopped at Don Rigo in Kroger's plaza for my lunch, hoping for a donation for the church, but no luck there. Good thing I have found something to enjoy having for lunch there! Then it was on do the shopping, which I got done well within the budget I had set for myself. Home to unload all the groceries and put away the perishables, and it was time to collapse into the recliner once again. This is getting old, let me tell you!
The rest of the family is home from vacation and they are coming up tonight, bringing pizza for supper, and we'll play cards tonight, then they'll leave Corgan for his stay-the-night this week. It'll be fun!!
And it was -- they got here, we cooked the pizzas and scarfed them down, then played poker for a while. I even won a couple of hands! We finished the evening off by playing a game of Up and Down the River, which went much as usual, only this time we gambled on the outcome, too.
They left around 10:00 or so and Corgan took over the TV, Ron fell asleep in his recliner, and I went to bed.
It was a wonderful evening!
Saturday
Ron and Corgan went uptown and got haircuts this morning. Corgan was supposed to wake me before they left so I could tell Ron the plans for the rest of the day, but he forgot. Ron called me from the parts store, but I told him that we'd just talk when they got back. The parts store, you ask? Yes. You see, we've paid off Ron's truck - and a couple of months ago, we had to buy a battery for it, and now it seems the alternator is going out. Yep. That's how it goes, right? (I've not had any problems when I've driven it, but Ron does when he drives to work (in the middle of the night) in the rain -- red battery light on, gauge doesn't read strong enough, etc.) We're hoping to baby it for a while, but who knows? Alternators are gonna cost us over One Hundred Dollars....
When they get home and Ron tells me his news - the cost of the alternator - and we discuss that. Then I tell him my news - I am supposed to drive the truck down to meet Bert at Kroger and put gasoline in it. Today is also the day of the church's fundraiser over in Eastgate and we need to go do our little bit over there, too. I am also making a new dish for supper tonight and would like help to peel a 10 pound bag of potatoes.
Guess what he tells me? "Too bad. Me and Corgan are mowing." Yep. So much for the careful plans I made for Saturday! I had everything carefully timed out, so everything was fit in, but now it's all shot to hell. I start peeling the potatoes, because I know it's going to take me awhile. Then Bert calls and says she doesn't feel like going to Kroger, so can we do this tomorrow after church?, which I agreed to (what else could I do?) and I went out to tell Ron that now I'm not going. I get back in the house and Bert calls back to say that she has to go to Kroger to pick up prescriptions, so we might as well get the gasoline today. Okay, then. Everything is back on again. I toddle back outside to let Ron know that now I'm going...again. He just rolls his eyes and keeps on mowing. I hollered at his back that I'd let him know when I'm leaving and went back in the house to get the potatoes peeled (yeah, my back just loved me standing at the sink that long) and getting the dish - make that dishes, we're pigs - ready and into the oven before I could leave.
When Bert finally called that she was ready to go, I had other plans formed in my head. I went out and told Ron I was leaving, and I got his gasoline money and left. After driving the truck down the road with no radio or AC, when I met Bert, I asked her if she would drive me over to Eastgate for the fundraiser and she did. I bought her (and her mom) supper as thanks for doing this. We got back to Kroger, got our gasoline, and we both left, her to go to Kroger and me to go home. Boy, did the house smell good when I walked in! Having that stuff cook the whole time I was gone was a very good idea!
The rest of the family got there 15 minutes after I figured supper would be done - which was the time they have told me time and time again is the time they eat supper - but since it was just cooking in the oven, everything was okay.
I got it all on the table and we all dug in. They liked it! Hey, Mikey! They liked it!
After supper was over, we played a game of Shanghai Rum, which we haven't played in a long time. Corgan didn't play - that game is a bit much for him - and Jean didn't play, either, because she doesn't like to play cards. She plays board games with us, which Ron doesn't, but not card games.
When that was over, we played a game of Up and Down the River, which Corgan did play with us.
And that was our Saturday night.
Sunday.
Church and lunch. Yep. That's our Sunday. After church, which we didn't get out of until late because I was selling raffle tickets for the baskets I've been getting these donations for, we went up to Georgetown to Country Inn for our lunch. Ron got his fried chicken and I got the double-decker BLT and steak fries. Back home, we both collapsed into our recliners and dozed as he "watched" American Pickers all afternoon long. Sometimes, ya just gotta let the man have the say.....at least it wasn't those silly-ass car shows.
My disability hearing is Wednesday, and I have to call the lawyer tomorrow for last-minute questions. Other than that, it's just going to be a normal Happy Homemaker Monday.
And -- it's August. Already.
