I packed a week's worth of busy into one day!

First of all, I rushed to finish my blog before midnight last night and I forgot to say "Happy Birthday!" to my daughter-in-law yesterday.  It wasn't intentional - I was trying to beat the clock, and I barely made it!

Tuesday.  My day from Hell.  Too much ended up happening on the same day!

I was meeting my cousin for 'lunch' at Country Inn in Mt. Orab at 11:00, so I had to get up by 10:00 to prepare to leave, which was planned to be at 10:30.  I knew these other things were scheduled for today, so was trying to do what I could so I wouldn't be rushed later (yeah, right...) and, thus, ended up leaving a little later than planned.  Then I decided to take a shortcut which ended up being a longcut - just my luck - and, sure enough, I was much later than expected.  Phooey!
I did get there, though, and we had our 'lunch' which ended up being breakfast - the big Slammer breakfast, like the one Ron and I get (at the Country Inn in Georgetown) on Sundays, for both of us, with some variances.  We had a good talk while we were eating, and when we were done, it was time for the next part of the day - the next scheduled event - to be happening.

Ruth was supposed to be meeting us, so we could go pretty much across the street and start emptying her storage.  But she didn't show up and didn't show up.  I tried texting her.  I tried calling her.  No response.  Hmmmm.  Finally, I text her daughter (the one she lives with, and is getting ready to move next door to).  She answers that she isn't home, but Ruth is.  Ruth is home, watching the kids while "they" are getting car parts.  Well, that answers that question.  Not only is Ruth not able to drive the car, she is watching the kids while they are gone and who knows when they will get back because HE knows Ruth wants to do something.  (But -- I'll be good and not go there.)
So, finally, Veronica and I decide to go pick Ruth (and the kids) up and get this show on the road!  When we get there, of course, Ruth has no idea we're on our way and is not ready and we have to wait for her to get the kids ready and try to put a car seat in the back seat of Ron's truck (yeah, that was fun! NOT!) and off we go back to get Veronica's truck and then to the storage.
The kids, of course, ran around at the storage, but were, in general, pretty good - they didn't go far.
We worked on emptying the storage.  Ruth and Veronica were very aware of what I was doing - they kept asking me about boxes being too heavy and telling me 'don't pick that up!' and they moved the recliner and the couch without even looking at me and, soon, as these things go, it started sprinkling on us!  Oh, no!  Rain!  We looked at the sky, but it didn't look bad over us but was starting to darken, so we hustled to get what we could on the trucks and get back to get it unloaded.  There were still sprinkles as we drove back, but I didn't even need the wipers.
Getting back, we unloaded even faster as the clouds gathered and you could really tell it was going to pour.  Again, I got to carry light boxes - but I did my share and, yes, she has steps.  Ugh!
When it came time to get the couch off the truck, it was decided to put it in Tammy's because of things that will be happening in a couple of weeks and why move it twice?  So the truck was moved and Ruth and Veronica started trying to get it up those steps.  I tried to direct it, but I wasn't much help.  It was finally through the door, and that's where it stopped.
Yay!  We beat the downpour!  Us "old fat ladies," (my words) who were the only movers available, did it!  Ruth's daughter, her useless fella (you know, the one who conveniently had to go buy car parts), and his useless brother, who conveniently claimed, "No muscle!" when he did bother to come over while they were wrestling with the couch, didn't do a damn thing, and I doubt that they will lift a finger to help her finish, either.  (And, if I may be so rude, it wouldn't surprise me if something conveniently "happens" to her stuff once she is finally totally moved out into her own place.  Just because.)  But it's mostly done, and will be finished on Thursday.  Us old fat ladies rock!!

When I left Ruth's, driving ahead of the rain, I headed down toward Josh's, where I was going to do our Cat Duty for the day.  I called Ron to see where he was and - lo and behold! - he was at the landfill!  I stopped to switch vehicles (getting Ron's truck up Josh's driveway is not fun for me) and got to see Ron for a few minutes, as he was just coming down off the hill from emptying the box on his truck.  Boy, was that a mistake!  No sooner had I started on down 68 toward Ripley than the rain started - and when it started, it poured!  My car has no AC, thanks to T-boning that deer last Fall, and I couldn't leave the windows down in that kind of rain.  Then I couldn't breathe in the closed-in car with the windows up, so I spent the rest of the trip alternating getting wet, putting my window down (putting down the passenger window let in spray from passing cars) to breathe and putting it back up to not short out my electric crap on the door.  I turned on the defroster, but it wasn't much help.  Some, not much.  Even on the coolest setting, on days like this, it's too hot.
I finally get to Josh's and have to get out to check his mail.  Then up his driveway after the stop - yeah, it was back up a little and then GO.  Then down the little incline (and don't fall!) to get in out of the rain.  Good thing I know where the towels are!
The only cat to greet me was Cleo, but she wouldn't let me touch her.  I even sat on the couch, but she wouldn't come near me.  I refilled the food and water bowls, but kept them up on the counter, making noises, trying to get the other two cats out of hiding.  It didn't work.  I finally went searching for them, finding Cinder under Corgan's bed upstairs (yes, I chanced the curving stairs) but she just gave me the evil eye.  I didn't see hide nor hair of James once again.  I can't figure out where that fat cat can hide - I looked under beds, couches, and chairs - but no James.  He weighs over 20 pounds - he can't fit any old where!
I put the food and water bowls back in their place - and Cleo was sitting there patiently waiting, and she let me pet her head this time! So I headed home.

It's raining, but it's a soft rain this time, not a downpour, so I have the passenger window down all the way home.  Yay for breathing!
Once home, there is NO time for rest.  I must move, move, move to get to the next scheduled event.
I get in the shower, rinse off all the rain as well the icky sticky sweat from the moving, get dressed again, start loading the car with everything I need for Christmas in July in Hawaii at my TOPS meeting tonight.  I have to be there at 5:30 to decorate and set up dinner before everyone else (except my co-chair) gets there.  Usually I don't leave the house until 6:30, so this is a big change.  Luckily, I had everything all together in baskets, bags, and the cooler in the kitchen and it only took about five trips.  I got back on the road at 5:25, which meant I was gonna be late again, but what can I say?  I tried damn hard!

I get up there and we get the car unloaded.  Then we have the fun of decorating and setting everything up.  I was overheated, but since the building had AC, I was able to cool down even as I was working frantically to get finished.  We finished, but people started trickling in before we were totally done, but it was no big deal.  Everyone was pleasantly surprised and quite enjoyed the evening.  We got many compliments on everything.  While it was fun, I am definitely glad it's over!
The worst part of the evening was when I weighed in.  I gained 4.6 pounds this week - so much for sweating off that big breakfast!  Ugh!  I had a 3.4 loss last week, so I was hoping for Loser of the Month, but that blew that out the window...

By the time I got home after reloading my car, my back was screaming at me!  Now, I had taken Aleve at breakfast and again before going to TOPS, and I put cream on my back after my shower, too, but the day was just too much.
I went to bed before 9:30, taking a sleeping pill (...PM) although I did lay there and play on my tablet for about an hour, catching up my games before turning off the light.  I slept the sleep of the dead!  Ron puts the house phone by me in the mornings, and I missed TWO phone calls this morning - I absolutely did not hear the phone ring.  I finally woke up around 10:30 this morning.

Wednesday

Waking around 10:30 (as mentioned above), I stayed in bed, tableting and reading until almost 1:00, then I got up and started in playing Happy Homemaker.  I decided to run uptown for my lunch, so I went and got dressed, then went to Gold Star and had my usual Gorito and Chili Cheese Fries, then came back home and finished my Happy Homemaker jobs.  Man, there's got to be a better gig!

Today was my normal boring day after that.  I resisted taking a nap - I don't like this falling asleep stuff that's happening - and now my bed is calling me once again.  I'm thinking I'll answer that call, catch my games up again, and visit snoozeland.

Tomorrow is finishing up Ruth's move.  I won't do much - Veronica and her hubby will do the heavy lifting - but I will be there for support!  We'll see how the rest of it goes.
