Today started when the alarm went off, as it does on Sundays, at 9. Up for showers and dressing for church as we always do, all while taking turns peeking out various windows at the ice and icicles hanging off of everything in the yard, wondering if we should even go. But cars would go flying by, so we knew the road was clear, only wet, so we decided to go ahead and go. The roads were fine, too, but after church, we decided not to take any chances and we just went to Frisch's here in Bethel for our big lunch date.
We both chose to get breakfast, the equivalent to a Bob Evans Rise and Shine, and we got a side order of goetta to share. For some reason, goetta just sounded good today!
When we got home, we jumped into the big project we had discussed while eating. Sorting and filing all the papers that had accumulated over the past few years in the library. Since it hadn't been done in so long, it was gonna take both of us, one handing over and one filing, to get done in any kind of a timely fashion. We worked at it for a little while, then my neck started hurting and we had to stop. I did the shredding that we had set to the side, then I sat in my recliner so I didn't have to hold my head up, and I ended up falling asleep! Me! I must have slept for about for an hour or so, I don't really know, but I woke up, looked around and Ron grinned at me and said something about needing a nap. I replied that I must have. We went back into the library and got back to work on the pile. After about half an hour, my neck started hurting again, but I pushed on until I couldn't stand it any more. I guess it was the way I was standing over the drawer and filing those papers. Ron could tell my neck was hurting again - I guess from the way I kept rolling my head - and asked if I wanted to stop. I really didn't want to, but I couldn't stand any more! I looked at the pile, and we had only done 2/3 of it, too. Dammit. I thought we'd be almost done! No wonder I put off filing all this crap...
We came out and I sat in the recliner again to rest my neck. After a little bit, Ron went out to find us some supper, and he discovered that there was now snow on the picnic table in the back yard, so the sleet/rain mix had finally turned to snow, as predicted. The weathermen hadn't been able to get this storm predicted very well, not time-wise anyway, but what they said is happening eventually. Unfortunately.
Ron finally made us some hamburgers. Just hamburgers (those pre-made ones from the 5-for-$20 meats), no sides. I knew, after the big breakfast, I wouldn't have too many calories left for supper. I got on the pute around this time, too, because my sisters worry when they don't hear from me all day, and here it was almost 7pm.
So went our evening. Eating supper and dead guys on TV. Peeking out at the snow every now and then. Exciting times in the O'Toole house.
When I put my food into MFP, I was over on calories by 36. 36!! I knew it would be close, and you can't get much closer than that. But there goes my popcorn and milk, phooey.
All the sleet/rain/ice mix we got all day is gonna freeze overnight, and the snow (who knows how much?) is gonna be on top of it. Ron is going to have one hell of a drive when he goes to work in the morning, which I call the middle of the night. He has to be at work at 5, so he'll have to leave here extra early in the morning, I think. My son Josh leaves his house in Ripley around 7 to drive down 52 and then UP 133 to be at work at 8, but hopefully they'll have treated the roads by then. They aren't that great at treating 133, though. My worrying has started already.
I have plenty of other family and friends that go to work at normal times, too. Oh, how I hope everyone gets to where they need to be and then get back home tomorrow afternoon! I hope everyone's guardian angels aren't too tired from their winter workouts to take up their duties one more time.
But - it IS March now, and the day after tomorrow is another day. I've heard that somewhere before, haven't you? I might have to use that as a new motto. LOL
