Nothing like a bit of excitement to start the day...

Thursday, June 12, 2014

Today was off to a slow start, as most of them are, when the phone rang and it was a local number so I answered it, even though it's usually some spiel about my energy bill.  It was the Surgery Center doing their 'pre-op' questions/registration, and I answered all the questions that are already in every computer in the universe.  As we were winding it up (down?), she said something to the effect of having someone with me for 48 hours after coming back home, and that took me by surprise.  I said, "What?" and she went on with blah-blah-blah about my instruction sheet and I told her that I didn't get an instruction sheet, everything was done over the phone, and she replied that I was told this, then - and I was not told anything of the sort.  We went back and forth for a bit, and she stuck to her guns about it, and I was not happy, not at all.  This had not been mentioned before, just that I would need a driver, nothing about needing care for 48 hours and this is not good - I need to get this set up!  It's only a few days away, and with work and all, it's not an easy task.
As soon as I hang up with her, I call the orthopaedic doctor's office, and let the answering machine have it - why wasn't I told this before, this is pretty important information to know and to set up beforehand!  I left a pretty blistering message that I was NOT happy about finding out about this today, etc. and then just had to wait for them to call back with an answer.  According to the message, it could take up to 24 hours for a return call, but I sure hoped it didn't take that long - and it didn't, thank God - it only took about half an hour!  She explained that that must be a Surgery Center thing, it's not theirs or she would have told me when we set it up.  I can resume my 'normal daily activities' the day after my shot as far as they are concerned, so she was very interested and, may I say, concerned about them telling me that.  I was very relieved after talking to her, and I felt much better about it.
I may have started something, though!

The rest of the day passed quietly, and when Ron got home, we decided to have a real supper - I was hungry! - so we made pork chops, potatoes, and green beans for our supper.  I even helped him peel the potatoes, and I cut them into chunks to put into the pot of water for him.  Then I played on the pute until it was all done, and I made my own plate, then went back to bed to eat.  I didn't get back up until 8:30 or 9, then played on the pute a bit more, then shut the pute down and back to bed for the night.

Ah, the life of leisure.........sucks!  It's boring as all get-out!
