Yay! My day to see about new glasses is here! I'm hoping to come home with new glasses today, from one of those 1-hour cheapo places, but with my prescription being trifocal and preferably no-line, we'll have to see. But I'm looking forward to it, mostly because it should also be a Bert, Teresa, and Rita Day, too!
But, alas, when I wake up, I already have a message from Teresa that she's not going to be able to make it - I didn't get the message because I had forgotten to take the phone off 'vibrate' when I went to bed last night - and, well, that's a bummer right off the bat. But I know Bert's going, because I'm picking her up, so the day won't be a all-by-myself trip. At 11:30, I picked up my cell phone to call Bert and remind her that I'm leaving at noon. I dialed her number, and my phone said, "Call from Bert." How weird was that?! Great minds think alike, they say, and in this case, it was true - Bert was calling me to make sure I was leaving at noon as was arranged, and to see if it was okay to make some extra stops. Assuring her that I was, we hung up, then I got up, got dressed, checked the bank balance on the pute, and then left, just a couple of minutes late.
I picked Bert up and we went on over to Eastgate. Our first stop was dropping the coupons (Bert and her mom collect coupons, expired and still good, for the military) off at the military center over by Meijer. Our second stop was at Eyemart for my glasses. This is over on the other side of Meijer, over by Penn Station and Aspen Dental, just before Longhorn. I walked around, looking at the frames until it was my turn, even though I was kinda hoping to just keep these and not spend the money necessary for new frames. When I got to ask them, though, I found out that they don't do the no-line bi- or tri-focals. So -- phooey. Another bummer! I guess I'm gonna have to go to WalMart, since I know for a fact that WalMart accepts our insurance, or vice versa. I didn't want to, since I know what the prices are there. But...
Since we were right there, Bert and I decide to go to Longhorn for our lunch. We thought about Golden Corral, but since we had just gone there on Saturday, neither of us really wanted to go there again so soon. So, Longhorn it was. I had my almost-perfect salad, and she had a burger with a salad. We also had appetizers - the corn fritters and stuffed mushrooms, and, man, were they good!
We stayed there, just chillin' and talkin' and enjoying our time together until after 4. Then we headed for home.
On the way home, we stopped at Kroger - Bert for a prescription, me for tonic water for Ron. I also picked up a couple little things for Easter. We headed on home.
When we got to Bert's, I got one of my Easter wishes. Bert cut my hair! She didn't cut the back - the length - but just trimmed the top, around the crown, and the bangs, so that I didn't look so shaggy or get such incredible bed-head any more. I like it!
I came on home, getting here a little after 6, and Ron came out to help carry stuff in, even though I didn't really have all that much. I'll take all the help I can get!
We just watched TV all night - starting with dead guys, then Criminal Minds, then back to dead guys - and Ron went to bed at 10, and here I am.
The evening sure seemed to fly by, and I sure enjoyed my whole day. Even with the couple of 'bummers' in there, it was a very good day, and I can sure use such good days. Gives me hope!
Nothing planned for tomorrow, although I may go do my shopping tomorrow - it all depends on when Ron gets paid. They screw him around so much and send him so many weird places that he doesn't always get to put money in the bank very easily. So, we'll see. If not, I'll go on Friday.
