I am SO sorry! I knew that it had been a few days since I had written a blog, but I did not realize that it had been a whole week!
Between the weather (which really makes my back ache and thus makes me not want to move), which also included 2 (TWO) giant snowstorms, worrying about Ron working in such conditions, trying to keep an eye on what we're eating, but wanting to eat good hot food, and all the things that constitute living - it just didn't happen. Trust me, not much was happening anyway.
Last Saturday when I did my weigh-in on the Wii, it told me that I had gained almost 3 pounds. THREE! I was shocked. I am doing my exercises and all, so I just don't understand. I am not eating that many calories in a day (even if I'm not back on myfitnesspal yet), but, c'mon! Some people tell me it's because I eat out in a restaurant more, but more than what? More than they do? More than once a week? I tell you - those are probably the better meals that I eat! When I make meals here at home, those are the meals that are starch and carb laden (potatoes, corn). And I think that eating in a "sit-down" restaurant, having a real meal, is much better than driving thru somewhere and getting a burger and fries!
Sunday night was the first of the snowstorms, and we probably had 4 or 5 inches of snow from that storm, so the roads were absolutely terrible on Monday. Then, on Tuesday, the rain started. Rain! On top of all that snow, it caused the most horrendous fog that swirled and drifted and puddled and it was the strangest thing to see. I drove over to Eastgate - and it took me around 6 hours to finish my errands and get back home! I called and talked to other members, and, luckily, our TOPS meeting got canceled that night. That fog was just too weird to drive in, plus it was gonna get dark (you know what driving in fog in the dark is like!), and the temps were gonna drop, too. Yep, it was all gonna start freezing again, too. The meteorologists were calling for another big snowstorm on Wednesday afternoon, too, but they kept pushing the starting time back and back and back, and finally it started way after they thought - but Ron had to go to work. It was AWFUL - no other word for it - and finally, a Level 3 Snow Emergency (no one on the roads but emergency personnel) in Brown County and Rumpke was forced to call all their trucks in. Yes, that's what it takes. I'm so glad that I didn't know he was on the road on his way home...
At the end of the storm, we had an average of 8 inches of snow this time. I put on my big boots, got out the yardstick, and went outside to do some measuring! I had fun doing that - that's about the only fun I can have in the snow now. I took lots of pictures - not just of the yardstick, but also of the snow drifting (or drifted) here and there and making pretty scenes everywhere. It was gorgeous!
Today, we had to go rescue Jean's truck from the bottom of their driveway. Ron has been driving my car to work, so I had to drive his truck (after sweeping all the snow off of it with the broom and getting it out of the driveway, where it had been parked all this time without being moved once) to him, so he had his chain and towing capacities. Yay! A big adventure!
I sure am hoping that the Wii will be a little nicer to me in the morning. We shall see.
And I promise not to let another week go by - even if they are boring.
