Rainy, rainy day

Thursday, March 26, 2015

I knew from the moment I woke up this morning that the weather had changed - and not for the better.  It really took an effort to just get up and go to the bathroom before lying in bed and tableting and reading before really making the effort to actually get up.

Once I got up and got moving, though, I felt - not better - but as though I could do this.  I put a load of towels in the washer, and I did up the dishes that were sitting there.  I also scrubbed down the one counter and the bottom of the appliances from that counter - a turnip (still in the package - long story, don't ask) had gone bad and leaked smelly (stinky! awful! terrible! rank!) liquid and the stink was hanging around, even though we had cleaned up the mess.  Oh, it was bad.  The only thing I could figure was that it had leached under the appliances and that's why it wasn't going away, so I moved everything and made a baking soda and vinegar paste and cleaned the underneath of each appliance and item on the counter, as well as the counter itself (once again), then rinsed it with the dishwater.  Oh, my, what a job that was!
After that, I just collapsed into my recliner for a little while.  Okay, okay!  A long while!

After Ron got home from work, I got to go down the road.  I chose to do this today, so that I will be able to do the making and baking I need to tomorrow without feeling rushed.
I stopped at the bank and did that, then went on down to WalMart and did my grocery shopping.  I stopped at IGA on the way home, mostly because we needed ice, and if I had to stop for ice, I might as well pick up some 5/$20. meat.  So I did.
I got home, and Ron came out and helped me carry in the groceries.  We got the fridge and freezer stuff put away, and the rest is still sitting there.

He had peeled potatoes while I was gone, and I sliced them up and put them on for our supper, adding the snausages (cocktail weenies/lil smokies), onions, and corn about a half hour later.  So, supper was a little late - we ate just after 8, but oh, man, it was good!  We both enjoyed it very much.

We watched Bones while eating supper, then dead guys.  He went to bed, and here I am.  I am going to go to bed early, too, because I have a lot to do tomorrow, so I'm hoping that I go to sleep tonight.  I've already taken my dose of sleeping pills, so we'll see.

Tomorrow, I'm making a pineapple upside-down cake and some peanut butter bark to take to our friends' house when we go there for supper.  Salmon, tuna casserole, cole slaw, other sides I'm sure, and I am bringing dessert.  Although the bark is more of a snack while we are playing dominoes...
