2/18 - Ash Wednesday
Well, I was glad that I didn't really hold my breath Tuesday night when I went to bed!  Although the weatherman (men?) got it wrong in a way, because we got more snow than they had called for.  But by the time I got up, it was gone from the roads, so I couldn't tell.  But from my newsfeed on Facebook, it was a terrible, terrible morning for the morning commute, so the time they had called for was correct.  When Ron called me during his lunch, he also said that once the snow started, it was fast and furious and got nasty quick.  Unfortunately, with this storm came even colder temperatures than before, and that didn't help the situation.

I just stayed in the house all day, did my 'normal' Happy Homemaker stuff - dishes and laundry - all the while worrying about my family and friends who were out and about on this cold, cold day.  I stormed Heaven with prayers to help keep them all warm and safe.  Kinda the same prayers as during the big snowstorm, but a little different, given the situation.  I was moving slow the whole day, because the cold, even though I'm in the house, sure affects my back.  I can TELL when the weather is changing or something weather-ish is up, let me tell you!  I'm pretty sure it's the arthritis in my spine, and today it was all a big dull ache.  It didn't really hurt, but it didn't feel good, either.
The Ash Wednesday Masses at church were canceled, too.  Because the church follows the school 'schedule,' when the school closes, all parish activities close (or cancel), too.  So....that was a first for me, though!  No Mass for Ash Wednesday.  Wow.

Ron got home early - by 4 - and I was glad of that for a change.  I made potato wedges to go with the fish patties for supper, but I misjudged the cooking time and burned the skins.  Phooey!  They still tasted good.  The potato part, anyway, once we scraped off the burnt skin, did.  The coating I put on them made of granulated garlic, lemon pepper, celery seed, and onion powder worked out real good!  And now I know just how long to cook them!
We just watched dead guys and game shows on TV all night - Criminal Minds wasn't on.  Blah.

2/19
When I woke up this morning, I could tell right off that it was even colder than it was yesterday.  My back was one big solid ache!  I had to take extra drugs right off the bat, and I just don't do that.  I just couldn't talk myself into getting out of bed, either, and stayed lying there, on my back, reading, until almost 2:30.  I finally MADE myself get up (it wasn't easy!) and I emptied the dryer and did another load of laundry - towels this time - and just paced through the house over and over.
I put chicken breasts with a packet of ranch dressing, cream of chicken soup, potato soup, and chicken broth into the crockpot to have for supper tonight.  That was about it.  I paced, I sat in my recliner, I went out into the kitchen and stirred supper, and then repeated the process.
Ron got home just after 3 - what a surprise - and he said that MY car did the exact same thing today that his truck does!  What!?  My car doesn't do that - that's why he's driving my car!  He had told me yesterday that when he put gasoline in it, the gas cap popped off.  It just wouldn't stay on - it kept popping off, even though he tried tightening it.  We were guessing that maybe the cold had warped the rubber gasket inside the gas cap, but we didn't know for sure.  We were hoping, too, that it wouldn't affect the way the car ran, but evidently we were wrong about that.  He went and put the gas cap back on (retightened) and that seemed to help - at least it made the light that was flashing inside go out.  He then bought a new gas cap on the way home and totally replaced it.  We'll see.

Ron and I had a little Wii Fit contest after he was warmed up by his shower.  He did a couple of the training exercises, and I wrote down his scores, and then I did the same exercises.  We tied on the first exercise, and he beat me on the second one by 20 points.  He didn't want to continue on, so we stopped there.  Men!
I added some leftover buttered noodles and mixed veggies to the crockpot for the last hour of cooking, so that it would make a whole meal instead of just the 'meat' part of the meal.  I just didn't feel like cooking more dishes to go with it.  It turned out soooo good!

We ended up watching game shows all evening tonight.  For some reason, our dead guy channel didn't or wouldn't come in.  I guess we needed the comic relief tonight...

I get to get out of the house tomorrow!  Lunch and grocery shopping!  It might not sound like much to anyone else, but sounds a lot like bliss to me right now - I haven't been out of my house, except to sweep the front sidewalk, since Sunday - and I am going to enjoy every moment!  It's still supposed to be very, very cold, but no more snow - not tomorrow, anyway.  I will take extra drugs and do my thang...
