1/11
This day - a Monday, no less - was the dull day. Are you surprised?
After finally getting up, I got into Happy Homemaker mode and got some laundry going, did up the dishes from the weekend, then took my hour-long break at 3pm, as usual. I ate my lunch while doing so - I had my poor man's shit on a shingle, along with an apple - and, lo and behold, before 4, Ron came strolling in! What!? I couldn't believe it!
For some reason, though, our phones were not talking to each other today (he had not received my "I'm up" text this morning) and I did not receive his "I'm coming home" text) and it was all totally weird. Technology! Ain't it great?
Anyway, he was home now, and he just flopped into his recliner and joined me in watching my game show til 4, then we turned on dead guys, and that was that.
I had put on the rest of the beans for his supper, and he enjoyed them all to himself while I had Seafood Snackers (4 little crab sticks) and 3 slices of Colby Jack cheese for my supper. I also had some of our Christmas chocolate for 'dessert.'
I put my food into MFP, and was almost 600 calories short for the day. Yes, MFP hollered at me - but what am I to do? The day is over! I ate both lunch and supper!
Tomorrow will be different, I promise.
1/12
Tuesday - the exciting day - Ron's doctor appointment day!
And it snowed some more overnight, so we expected the roads to be a mess, but hoped that they would be okay by the time we had to leave. And they were, after a couple of snow squalls which covered them over again and they had to clear again.
133, as usual, was messier than 125, with much more drifting snow which was very slick. But, once we made it up to 125, all was fine, and we made it over to the doctor's with plenty of time to spare. We got Ron's paperwork all caught up and then the real visit started.
First of all, they check his blood pressure - it was great!! It was 133/80 - this is such great news, knowing the problems he has had with his BP.
Doc comes in and Ron shows him the mole on his elbow - the real reason behind this office visit - even though a blood pressure check is a good reason, too. Doc thinks it is a good idea to get it checked out a little better, and suggests that he goes to a dermatologist or a surgeon, whichever one can give him an appointment first. (He keeps stressing that - whichever one can get you in FIRST.)
Then, we have Doc check Ron's ears. They started bothering him a couple days after Christmas, then earlier this week, a cold finally moved in on him. But, you never know, so we wanted Doc to check - just to be on the safe side. Doc checks, and declares that Ron has a hole - a tiny pinhole - in his eardrum, as well as infection in his inner ear. Wonderful. <yes, sarcastic>
Doc sends a prescription to Walgreen's, and gives us a couple of doctors' names, and the dreaded (Ron just looooves doctors) office visit is over.
We were supposed to meet Bert and Teresa at Logan's Steakhouse after the doctor visit, but both of them canceled due to the weather - and who can blame them? Not me - that wind was awful!
But since it was just us, we decided to go to Crackhead Barrel so he could have his pork chops. He really likes his pork chops, and knows he can get them there. I got the Sampler dinner, with a little bit of chicken-n-dumplings, meatloaf, and ham. When we were done eating, I strolled through the store and found me a piece of clothes on the clearance rack. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be a long shirt or a short dress, but, for me, it's a housedress! It was 40% off - once they figured out how to do it on the register, because, of course, it didn't automatically work - and I had a gift card. So, in the end, it cost me sixty-two cents. I'll take that kind of deal any day!
We got back home - after traversing the still drift-covered and slick 133 - and are settled in for the night. Dead guys for the rest of the night!! WhooHoo!!
I tried to put my food into MFP, but my dinner wasn't in there, so I said, "Phooey!" and quit on it. I know - I shouldn't have, but I did. My brain is tired, after this kinda emotional day, and my bed is calling me.
Another dull Happy Homemaker Day tomorrow. Another worry-about-Ron-all-day tomorrow - but he does have medicine in him now, so that's a good thing.
