Today was Ron's big surgery and doctor day - and he was NOT looking forward to it. Neither was I, because when he gets nervous, he gets a bit weird. He talks a lot, as well as saying a a lot of silly/stupid things, but it's all just nerves talking - and we all know that.
We were expecting Josh to show up around quarter after ten, so we had our alarms set for quarter til ten, to get our lazy asses moving at ten and we'd be ready when he showed up. Well, turd bird that he is, he came in about ten til while we were still laying there in bed, playing our respective games, waiting for the 10:00 alarm to go off! So much for plans already! He nagged at us for a couple of minutes, and we explained our plan, and we all laughed about it, then he went out into the living room to wait for us to get up and dress.
We left our house around quarter after ten, which was a little earlier than we had planned, but better to be early than late, right? We got over to the hospital, giving Josh directions to the outpatient surgical section, and get Ron in there and get everything started.
They finally call him back for the surgery and 45 minutes later, he comes back out with a big bandage on his elbow. They will let us know the results of the biopsy in a couple of days, which is good, and we are finished here. Off we go to the next stop.
Lunch! It's supposed to be lunch with Bert and Teresa, but Bert is not able to come today, so it ends up just us and Teresa. We meet her in the parking lot at Hibachi, and we all go in. We only have three hours to kill before Ron's doctor appointment!
We have a grand ol' time, and the guys made a serious dent in their food, while Teresa and I each only had one plate, but we filled in the time with lots of talking and quite a few laughs.
After two and half hours, Josh convinced us to leave so we could go to Jungle Jim's and get the ribs for our Super Bowl party and get that over with. "Might as well, while we're all together," he said, and his dad agreed with him, so off we went on this new errand thrown into the day.
We discover that the price of ribs have already gone up since the last time Ron and I checked them out (what a surprise, right?) and it's probably a good thing we're getting them this week instead of next week - who knows how much they will be next week!
But, we got that little errand over with, and went on up to Milford and the doctor's office.
At the doctor's office, the medical assistants and I have a good long chat about football, and then, finally, Doc comes in. He talks about Ron's surgery this morning, and then checks Ron's ears. He says that the eardrum, and the infection behind it, have healed. Ron is telling him, though, that the ear is still "closing over" so that means that the Eustachian tube is still inflamed and swollen. He orders an anti-inflammatory to reduce the swelling, and hopefully that will be the end of that.
We stop at Walgreen's for the meds, and then, finally, we get back home at 5:30.
Only a 6-hour day for 3 errands - no, make that 4 (okay, 5 with getting the meds) - and he wonders why I take all day when I run errands! Men!
My bed is calling me - I may answer its call. Then again, I may lay in there and read. I do that, you know. Since tomorrow is gonna be a Happy Homemaker Day, there is no rush to go to sleep.
