1/9
Since I had done my running yesterday, I didn't have to go anywhere today, which was a good thing.  I had a lot of things to do around the house!  Ron finished taking down all the Christmas stuff outside, and I did the same inside.  All the cards hanging in the hallway, my Sports tree (although I left the ornaments on the table), the wreaths -- all gone.  All packed up and put away for this year.
I am always sad at this time of the year.  It seems to be such an end, and endings are usually sad.  But - we must do what we must do, and this is what we must do at this time of year.

A little after 1, Ron came in to take a short break, and I asked him about lunch.  He didn't want anything that was here in the house, but he didn't want to go anywhere, either.  We couldn't really afford to go anywhere, anyway, so that was okay.  After a bit of back-and-forth, he finally decided that we could run over to Felicity to get lunch.  Okay - now I have to go get dressed.
We got over there, and he had his normal steak hoagy with mushroom sauce, while I had what they called a Farm Hand Burger - it was like a Double R!!  Yummy, yummy, yummy!!  After ascertaining that we didn't need to go over to the grocery store, we came back home and took his tree down while waiting for time for football to start.  He moaned and groaned about my insisting on checking the ornaments against the list, but once everything was tucked away in his tin, he was satisfied.

And then - FOOTBALL!!!  It's Wild Card Weekend, and the first of the playoffs.
I thought all home teams would win this weekend - and, yes, one of the home teams is my Bengals - and there's supposed to be something about 'home field advantage' that gives the home team a small edge, so we'll see.
The first game - Houston, the home team, is totally skunked.  The final score is 30-0.  So much for home field advantage there.
Time for our game!!  My Bengals need a good game!!  AND - here comes the rain!!  Wow.
The game goes on, and - at the end - tempers flare, the Bengals get penalized and the other team kicks a field goal and beats us.  Bummer!  Bummer! Bummer!  Home team loses again.

Needless to say, I have trouble sleeping.  I am still awake at 4am.

1/10
Sunday!  Church, lunch, football!  Yep, that's the schedule.

AND - we wake up to snow.  SNOW!  A very nice dusting, maybe half an inch of snow covering everything.  The weathermen sure missed this one!!  50 degrees and rain yesterday, less than 30 degrees and snow today.  What a difference!!

We make it up to church - about 10 minutes later than we planned, but we made it (of course, 133 had not been treated...) and then, afterward, made it down to the Barn for our lunch.  We hadn't been there for a while, and had planned to go there and were hoping that my brother and his wife would join us, but they didn't (he's having problems with his ear(s) again).  Phooey!
Ron got his fried chicken dinner, even though it takes 20 minutes to cook, while I got a bacon cheeseburger and fries.  They have the best seasoned fries!  We both enjoyed our meals very much!
We left just as the first football game of the day - in Minneapolis, where the temperature was -3 degrees at kickoff - was starting.  I saw the kickoff, then we hit the road.  We got home with no problems and both flopped into our recliners and that was that.
Guess what?  The home team lost this game, too!  And, with it as cold as it was, there was nowhere near as much scoring as there should have been between these two teams.  This was some decent football!!

The second football game of the day started - in Washington, D.C., where the temperature was at 59 degrees and very windy at kickoff - and this looks like it's gonna be the kind of football game we're used to.  Down the field, back up the field....and it kinda goes that way, but the score isn't as high as expected in this game, either.  And - guess what? - the home team loses!

So much for home field advantage.

I hear my bed calling me.  No plans for tomorrow - Happy Homemaker Day.  WhooHoo!
