I am catching up on Sunday the Saturday that I missed.
Friday night into Saturday, I had another sugar low. This happened around 4 am. I was so worried about this - I knew that something was going to have to be done if this continues. After a few traded sentences on Facebook with my older sister, I had determined that I thought that, since I was eating a better supper, then I needed to eat a snack before going to bed. Evidently, the carbs and/or sugars I am having with supper is not enough to go through the night.
Saturday, for lunch, we went to Gold Star Chili. I had a 5-way and a cheese coney (a combo meal). I didn't quite finish the chili - I gave it to Ron to finish for me. Yay, me.
Saturday night, we had a birthday celebration for my son and daughter-in-law. We had a huge salad, with both lettuce and spring mix for a base, then lots of veggies to top it off. Everyone made their own. We have lots and lots of veggies left over for salads for supper the next couple of nights! Then, they opened their gifts, and then, in lieu of cake and ice cream, I had made a "Banana Split Pie" and put toppings on the side. I thought I cut the "Pie" into 6 even pieces, but ~~noooooo~~ so, the birthday people got the biggest pieces, and my sister and I (who are both diabetic) got the smallest pieces. It's got fruit (pineapples and bananaa), cream cheese, powdered sugar, Instant Pudding (powder), and Cool Whip. For toppings, I had strawberries, cherries, pecans, walnuts, dark chocolate chips, and mini semi-sweet chocolate chips. All in all, I think it's better for one than cake and ice cream. This was really good - I think I will be making this again.
We then sat out by the firepit for a while, then came in and played Jeopardy! on the Wii. Josh totally kicked Jean's and my asses - he won over 135,000.!!! (OH, we can dream.....) I told him I LET him win for his birthday. hahahahahha It was kinda late when they left, so we went on to bed, and I figured I could catch this up tonight.
I did NOT have a sugar low Saturday night into Sunday morning! Hurray!! Maybe having this bit more sugar does have some merit, after all.
After church today, we went to Bob Evans and I had a Sunshine Skillet and 2 slices of banana nut bread.
We had a large salad for supper. I did have half of a chocolate chip cookie as we were making our salads because I was feeling "a mite peckish," which is kinda my way of starting a sugar low, but I don't want to be bothered to check my sugar. I will have a Nature Valley nut bar (I don't know what else to call them...) - they are the Sweet and Salty Nut Granola Bars. I buy the dark chocolate & pecan and the roasted mixed nuts (it has peanut butter on the bottom, not chocolate). One of them only has 170 calories.
Needless to say, with having the sugar lows, I have not been sleeping very well and now I am too tired to sleep well. So, tonight, I am going to go to bed early. Yes, 11:00 is early.
Oh, and my weigh-in on Saturday? I gained weight. But I think, after this week of drinking water every half hour I am awake, I am a bit bloated. I FEEL heavier, even though I can still do all the exercises that I have been doing with no troubles. I will know more about that on Tuesday, with my next weigh-in.
I've had all sorts of bads -- an ice cream cone and three swiss rolls (over two days) I'm not sleeping because I'm dealing with a baby -- a baby with a third shift mommy; a baby who is either teething or has an ear infection. Takes a lot out of one. Instant energy grab to keep me awake the next half hour. Bleh.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, I've lost about three pounds since I went to dr. figure that!
Glad you avoided the sugar low; hope it keeps happening.
