First of all - 1/30/15 - HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my sister Ruth!
1/30/15
I had to get up early today and meet up at church to finish setting up the Quarter Auction. We each brought all the things that we had forgotten the other day, as well as anything else we may have collected in the meantime, and we got everything done. It was a relief to know that there is this much less to do on Saturday!
When we were done, Joanna and I went down to Bob Evans for a bite of lunch, then I went on down to Kroger to pick up pop and hot dog buns for the auction, then I did my shopping at WalMart. Ron and Corgan actually beat me home, and after getting the groceries carried in and put away, we watched the third Iron Man movie. Corgan wasn't too happy about it, because he hasn't seen 1 or 2, but he showed interest in it, so that's a good thing. When "our" movie was over, then he put in "his" movie, which was the original Star Wars movie, but (of course) he called it number 4. Sigh.

I had to get up early again today, to go over to Dawn's to officially weigh in to start the next round of our Biggest Loser contest. We've taken a little break over the holidays, and then she started a job at a school, and we're just now starting back up. Her scale - the 'official' weigh-in - weighs about 3 pounds heavier than my Wii, so I will automatically lose 3 pounds next week! But, at the end, I will automatically gain 3 pounds, too. Sigh. I've got to make sure I do much, much better this time. I've GOT to. I'm so tired of being stuck where I am, and I sure don't want to go up!
After weighing in, we headed back home. (I couldn't believe that I talked Ron and Corgan into riding along with me!) We stopped at IGA here in Bethel so that Ron could buy more BBQ sauce, and then we went on home. Once home, I realized that I had forgotten to stop at Bob Evans for the cookies that I was supposed to pick up for the Quarter Auction. Well, I just figured that I would run down and pick them up right before meeting at 5 before the auction.
While I was eating my lunch (ha! doughnuts...), my friend Teresa called me. She let me know that, unfortunately, she wasn't going to be able to come tonight, which was a bummer. Then she told me that she had a donation for us! She had gotten gift certificates for the pizza place where her nephew works (he's the manager) and would I be able to come and get them? Oh, yeah! That was great!
So, I left even earlier than I had planned and went over to Teresa's to pick up those gift certificates and visit for a few minutes. I was going to drive through somewhere to get a bite to eat - some real food - but as I was leaving Teresa's, I discovered that I had forgotten to put all my pocket stuff - my money, cards, chapstick, etc. - in my pockets, so I have no way to PAY for anything anywhere. Bummer! I quickly call Ron to ask him to bring me my pocket stuff when he meets me up at church. After calling me a couple of the names I already called myself, he agreed. I headed back, and was getting close to the old bowling alley when I realized that, once again, I had forgotten to stop at Bob Evans! I quickly turned around and went back - I was glad that I wasn't closer to Bethel! I got the cookies, and then I got on to Bethel, and on up to church and we got the last little bit of stuff ready before the auction started.
When the food was ready, I did eat a hot dog (plain) and a bag of cheese curls, so I had energy for the evening ahead. I was pumped!!
The auction - oh, what fun it was! But, oh, how much my back hurt! I had a heat patch on, and had taken Advil, but as the night went on, I paid and paid for it. I was on my feet pretty consistently - before the auction started and during breaks, I was selling Split the Pot tickets, and during the auction, I was lining up the items for bids. I was afraid to sit down - if I did, I might not be able to stand back up - but I made it. It was hard, but I did make it. The auction was a great success, we made over $1300. I did make a terrible error - I forgot to subtract the starting money from the Split the Pot when we drew the winner, but no one else mentioned it, either. I did feel bad, but we still made money, and that's what it was all about.
As soon as I got home, I went to bed. I took a dose of Tylenol PM, and went straight to bed. No talking to the guys, no nothing. I did catch my games up on my tablet once in bed, but it didn't take me long to go to sleep - I was beat.
2/1/15
Sunday.
Super Bowl Sunday.
I didn't wake up until close to 11. I didn't WANT to get up at all, but I had to. I had things to do before my house would be filled with people tonight for the game.
So, I got up, did some dishes, got out and rinsed all my football dishes, sorted out what foods would go into what football dishes, cleaning off my kitchen table (if you know me, you know that that is a job in and of itself!), and just generally doing all the little last-minute things that need done.
I had chicken salad sandwiches and veggies for my lunch, and I had everything ready for the party by 4, just as I had planned. I really wanted everything done by 3:30, but I had these 2 guys here that I forgot I had to figure into my planning. They don't do things my way, you know......
The food is done.
The table is set.
People show up.
The Super Bowl starts.
We have a blast hollering at the TV - and occasionally at each other - as we usually do.
Chelle, Jean, and Corgan leave at halftime since Corgan has school tomorrow and must get to bed on time.
The game continues, and so do we - feeding our faces, that is.
I'm glad we made 'good-for-us' food. Meat and veggies, mostly. Ribs, wings, snausages (cocktail weenies in BBQ sauce), pepperoni & cheese, olives, veggies, chips (Ruffles, Fritos, Tostitos, and Funyuns) and dips (I made Sweet Pepper Dip, Steve brought Buffalo Chicken Dip, and Ranch Dressing). Chelle made mini cheese balls, like she did for Christmas, only she shaped them like footballs, so we had mini cheese balls and crackers, too. For those with a sweet tooth, I had football brownies (from Little Debbie) and I made a Peanut Butter Bark (dark chocolate swirled with melted peanut butter chips with mini Reese's Cups on top, some cut in half).
What was left over went home with Josh and Steve, so all Ron and I have left are veggies, and we can deal with that! We are going to start being absolutely strict with ourselves now.
Buckle down time!! It's time to get off this mesa!
try aleve instead of advil. usually better for musculo-skeletal pain.
