Do it! Get it done!

1/28
I had to get up early today to meet others up at church to help get the Quarter Auction set up.  To at least get everything we could get done this early done, anyway.  Of course, each of us forgot stuff and we had to plan to meet again on Friday to finish up, but we got a LOT of it done, and we are that much closer to being ready.  People just don't realize how much time it takes to put all of this together!
Anyway, we met at 10, and worked, worked, worked.  Around 12:30, Bert called me and wanted to know if I wanted to have lunch with her, because she had some running to do up in Bethel.  I told her that I was already up in Bethel, and to come up to church and let me know when her errands were done, which she did.  When she showed up, we were just about done for the day - just minor things left to do - so I was able to leave to have lunch with her.
We went up to Frisch's, and as I went to get out of the car, I realized that I had forgotten to grab my purse!  I made the trip back up to the church to get my purse while Bert went in and got us a table, then I met her and our lunch really started.
2 hours later, we were still there.  I love long lunches with my friends!  It's not just the lunch - the food - it's the company, you know.  Bert had a fish sandwich, onion rings, and the salad bar.  I had a Buddie Boy - the ham sandwich - with American cheese, and french fries.  When the waitress came back to ask if we wanted dessert, I was bad and had a second order of fries!  For some reason, they just sounded really good at that time, and they don't have strawberry pie right now, so....

Ron texted that he was on his way home, and I replied that I was at Frisch's.  He ended up stopping and visiting Harry and Donna since I wasn't home (but I didn't know that yet) and wouldn't come and join us.
After I finally left Bert - and Frisch's - around 4:30, I went to do the Altar Society banking that I didn't leave enough time to do earlier, and I went up to Gold Star to pick up their Quarter Auction donation, then went on home.  It's been a long day!

We just watched TV - mostly dead guys - all night.  Ron had a "clean out the fridge night" for his supper, and I didn't really have a supper, I just noshed on my dry roasted peanuts.  I watched Criminal Minds at 9, which was a really heartwrenching episode.  They are usually good, but this one was very strong.  It doesn't help that I can't stand to see men cry, and that happened, too - oh, does that tear me up! - which is what made helped make it heartwrenching.  I think I was glad to turn the plain ol' regular dead guys!  Am I weird or what??  (don't answer that...)

1/29
I haven't slept well the last 3 nights, and I wanted at least ONE good night's sleep this week, and this was the only night that I could sleep until I couldn't sleep any more in the morning, so at the end of Criminal Minds last night, I took a full dose of sleeping pills.  I ended up falling asleep in my recliner in front of the TV!  Ron woke me up to go to bed when he got up to go to work.  Strange, strange, strange.  But I went right back to sleep, and slept until 11.  I guess I really needed it!
Ron called me and said he was on his way home, and did I want to go uptown with him to cash his check and get some lunch?  Well, who am I to turn down lunch?  Ha!
We had lunch at the restaurant on the corner of Charity Street.  It has just re-opened as 'Katelynn's Diner' after closing after being open for 7 or 8 years under a different name.  It was okay - the food was good, and we were there less than an hour.  That was a good thing, because the last time we were in that place, it took close to two hours just to GET our food.  It was not a good experience.  But, since it's a whole "new" place now, we thought we'd give it a try, and it was not so bad.  Good food takes time to make, you know, and since we had time...

We came back home after going to the store, and Ron started cooking his ribs.  This task usually takes him two or three days, depending on how early he gets home from work and can concentrate on them.  It is sooooooo worth it, though - ask anyone who has ever had any of his ribs!  They rank right up there with his Ron Burgers, trust me.
When he came to a 'stopping' point (meaning the ribs were in the oven), we decided to have a movie night, since we don't watch anything on TV on Thursday nights.  We finally decided on the Iron Man movies, which Ron had just received for Christmas. We thought we'd be able to watch all 3 of them.
Well, between stopping the movie to go check the ribs, and stopping the movie to rewind it to figure something out, and just the length of the first movie, it took a lot longer to watch than we thought.  We did manage to watch the second one, but when it was over, it was going on 10, so we didn't have time to watch the third, so we were wrong.  Oh, well, we can watch it tomorrow night, no matter what Corgan says.  It IS our TV, right?  He can always watch his Most Stupid shows when the movie is over......

Tomorrow, it's back up to church to finish setting up the Quarter Auction.  We have to bring all the things we forgot the other day, and things we've collected since then, but we'll get it ready.  After that, I'll run down and get my shopping done - my normal Friday stuff.
