5/28
I woke up and was doing my normal tableting and reading when I got a text from Chelle, saying that today was Corgan's awards ceremony and that it was his last day of elementary school. If I wanted to come down to this year's, it starts at 1:30. Well, that is something to get up for! I got up, got a shower and got dressed and took off, after answering the phone and am now running late - later than I wanted to be, anyway. Then I got stuck in con(DE)struction on 52, so now I really am late! Phooey!
Luckily, by the time I got there, Corgan's class hadn't been called yet, so I didn't really miss anything. I took plenty of pictures and took him, and Chelle and Jean, out for ice cream afterward. Hey, you gotta celebrate somehow!
I took them home when we were done eating, then I called Ron, hoping he was going to tell me that either 1) he was done and ready to come home, or 2) he had one more short run, but, as these things go, he was being sent back out again - all the way to Peebles. What!! It's going on 4!! What is the matter with those people? How do they know when we have something scheduled and he needs to come home halfway early. Shitshitshitshit! We arrange for me to come up to Georgetown to get his check while he gets started on this last run. Man, are we both mad about this!
I get his check, go up to the bank and get it cashed, depositing money in our savings account. It's been a while since we've done that, so it was time. Then I came on back to Bethel, making the deposit into the checking deposit. Then I came on home, and had to sit and wait for him to come home.
We had made plans for 7:00 tonight, and the plans were made that late just so he had plenty of time to get home! I could just scream!!
I had to make some phone calls and texts and let people know that we will be late, thanks to the Rumpke assholes. Everyone was okay with it, since everyone knew - or knows - that Rumpke does stuff like that, especially when we plan something. It still sucked, though. Everything is on hold until he comes home.
Ron finally calls me between 6:30 and 6:45 - he is just now getting back to Georgetown, and still has to fuel up his truck for the morning and do his paperwork, then he'll be on his way home. At least a half hour if not longer. I pass the word along...
He finally got home about twenty after 7, and was piddling around doing this and that. I finally reminded him that we were supposed to be somewhere at 7, and he needed to get moving. He freezes and looks at me, then says, "Why didn't you tell me?" I told him that I thought he had remembered, that's why he was so pissed about that last run. He said no, he just didn't want to go that far that late in the day. Men!! He jumped in the shower then, got himself dressed and we hit the road. I made the calls and texts I needed to, and everything got rolling.
We picked Bert up, as we were supposed to, and off we went. We all wanted Teresa to go with us so bad, but she didn't feel up to it today. Bummer! She was also watching her great-niece, so we'll let her live this time. We got down to Red Lobster, which was Bert's choice of restaurant, and this was her birthday, and she wanted the night out. We were met there by other friends, not as many as we had hoped but it was their loss, and we had quite an enjoyable evening. We laughed and told stories and laughed and reminisced and laughed and we all had a great time!! We didn't even leave there until after 10, and Bert, Ron, and I continued laughing and talking all the way home.
I think we gave Bert a good Happy Birthday.
5/29
I woke up this morning about 9:30, and just did my normal tableting and reading. I eventually got up, played Happy Homemaker - getting my dishes done and putting a load of towels in - and soon turning on the AC.
I got all the clothes that have been collecting in baskets for a while put away, too. Let me tell you - THAT is a job! But I got it done, and I had enough hangars, too! Quite an accomplishment...
I started a load of regular clothes when I turned the towels on to dry for the third time, and I sure feel like I've done something today, even though it's just boring old housework.
Josh dropped Corgan off, Ron got home from work just before 6 (why couldn't that have happened last night?), and our nice quiet evening at home started.
And that's what it was - a nice quiet evening at home. Corgan took over the TV, of course, but he's watching science-y shows tonight. Ron is snoozing in his recliner, and I'm mostly on the pute - sometimes in my recliner on the tablet, but...
I'm going to bed early. A couple of nights without NyQuil. Very restless sleep, and my body is hollering at me to rest. Rest, dammit, Rest!!
