THE ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF FALLING AND BREAKING MY BACK!
Some days, I can't believe it's been a whole year already, and other days, it's like it's been a zillion years, not just one. I think I should be so much 'better' than I am - I hate being a wuss.
Today started as most days do, with me lazing in bed tableting and reading until I finally got up. But once I got up, I started in on the things that needed done. Not Happy Homemaker, not quite yet, but I went outside and got to work on my little project of laying bricks for a little patio under the glider chairs in the tree copse. I'm so glad Ron agreed to do this - I want to get it done before he changes his mind again!
I got all the bricks that had been taken out there laid in place, which got the job almost halfway done, and then I had to take a long break. After my break, I carried the few bricks I needed to get the job finished halfway over five at a time. I couldn't carry any more than that, and I sure couldn't budge the wheelbarrow, which was full with another load of bricks. I was quite ready for another break after getting to the halfway point, with all those trips lugging bricks, then bending over and placing them.
I went uptown for that break, to do some errands and I let myself go to lunch at Gold Star, to celebrate the day. Whatever works, right? I also checked out the price of tomato plants at the Feed Store for Ron, cause he's gung ho about having them this year.
When I got back home, it was time to play Happy Homemaker. I put a load of towels in the washer, and stacked the dishes on the counter, but then decided that they could wait another day. I piddled around here in the house, doing little thises and thats, and when Ron texted me - rather early, about quarter til 5 - he caught me not ready and I had to rush to put on my gym shoes and get out the door.
I made it all the way to our half-mile marker, too! I was quite proud of myself! And, silly me, I forgot that he had driven/ridden the motorcycle today, so I had my first motorcycle ride in two years today, too! Whee! What a celebratory day this is!
When we got home, Josh was pulling in, too. He was dropping off some tomatoes that he had stopped at Bert's and picked up for us to split. We went through the box, and split up the tomatoes, and he looked at my little project, then he left.
Ron and I went out and worked on the little project more - he rolled the wheelbarrow over and dumped the load of bricks onto the ground for me and I placed the bricks on the other side, finishing up the job. Ron replaced the glider chair for me, and we sat in them, enjoying that new shady place for a few minutes. Celebrating, indeed!
We came in the house, he took his shower, and we made our supper. Well, he chopped/chunked the tomatoes we just got, and I chopped and sliced the other veggies, and we made our huge salads for our supper - it took us a while, though.
We watched Starsky and Hutch while eating, but he fell asleep during the second episode we were watching after he was done eating (I eat slower than he does). Nothing new there! I turned the DVD off and turned dead guys on.
Nothing planned for tomorrow. Absolutely nothing until time for me to go to my TOPS meeting.
All in all, I think this was a very good celebratory day for such an anniversary.
