5/8
My alarm went off at 8:00 this morning.  Ugh.  I wasn't happy about it, but since I knew it was gonna happen, I couldn't argue with it.  I slapped snooze a time or two, then got up. Going on a field trip with my grandson doesn't leave any room for error!  I've got to meet the schoolbuses at Coney Island when they get there, so I can enter with them and get the group rate for this Appalachian Festival.  I do have to pay for my own parking, but I can live with that.
I left not long after 8:30, and after a stop in New Richmond to get myself some tea and a large cup of ice, I got down to the gas station on Kellogg Avenue to wait for the school buses to pass by so I could pull in behind them.  Those buses sure were slow, but they finally got there, and we got to Coney.  I went to park my car way out in the boonies and walked, walked, walked into the park to meet Chelle and Corgan.  Man, I felt like I walked a mile already and we didn't even start yet!
After a flurry of texting, we finally met up, and worked up a plan of walking around and we got started.  The exhibits, the craftsmen (and women), the booths - oh, it was wonderful!  We stopped here and there, as you are meant to do at festivals like this, and it was great.  They had a lot of things that were the same, but each booth had something that was just a little different, too.  There was a lot to see.
At 11:30, we walked back out to the car to eat our lunch.  I had brought lawn chairs to sit in and lifted the back, so we had a spot of shade for us to enjoy, too.  I had chicken salad, potato sticks, a Little Debbie cake, and some of an Elephant Ear (that Chelle bought for me in the festival), and some cheap cookies.  They had brought their own lunch, too, and Chelle had bought Corgan a fried PB&J.  We sat there for about 45 minutes, then went back in and started our final round to choose souvenirs.  They had to be back at the buses at 1:15 for the trip back to school.  When they had gone to catch the bus, I stayed just a little bit longer, then headed out, too.

I went on down to their house to hang with them all for a little while, since it was so early in the day.  Man, was that a long drive down 52!!  I drove and drove and then I saw a sign that said - Ripley, 25 miles.  Geez!!  So I drove and drove some more.  Jean and I sprawled on the living room floor and talked for a while - my back wanted to stretch out.  But, other than feeling the need to lay down, and taking a couple Aleve, I feel that I passed this test with flying colors!  The long ride in the car down 52 seemed to 'hurt' worse than all the walking did - I don't know if that was exactly true, but it seemed that way.
I stayed there until around 5-5:30, then Corgan and I came on home.  Ron got home not long after we got here, and we had a pretty normal Friday evening, except for me pushing Ron to go outside and do some digging.  The Plant Auction is in the morning, and these plants have to get dug up tonight - there is no more putting it off!

5/9
The alarm went off at 8:00 again this morning.  Double Ugh!  But, I am supposed to be up at church at 8:30, so there is no time for playing "snooze" this morning, much to my chagrin.  I get up, do my weigh-in, finding out that I have gained weight again - only .2 of a pound, but still.  It's a gain, dammit.  I'm so aggravated about this!
Ron helps me load all the plants into the car, and off I go.  He even comes up to church to help me carry everything in for me - how about that? Then he goes off, and there I am at the Plant Auction, which is fine by me, now he can't stop me from buying stuff.  Ha!
I do kitchen duty setting up the auction, then manned the door.  When the auction started, I did my part in buying plants!  I bought a Wandering Jew and a Jade plant for indoors, and a big frondy/leafy fern, some Dusty Miller, some Black-Eyed Susans, a plant called Catmint, some English Ivy, and a plant stand. I think that's all...if I think of something else, I'll tell you.
The auction got over right around 11:30, and by the time clean-up was done, it was very close to noon.  I had told Josh that I would be HOME by noon, dammit!  Oh, well.  I am trying to bust ass down 133 to not be very late and get stuck behind a dude towing a boat.  He finally turned off at Lakin Chapel Road, and then I got stuck behind a combine!  dammit dammit dammit  He finally turned off at Jones-Florer, but by then Josh had texted me that I was a "LIAR."  Yeah, my son is great.

I got home, changed my clothes, gave instructions to empty my car to Corgan, and off Josh and I went.  He is taking me out for a movie and a meal for Mother's Day.  It's way too crazy to do it on Sunday, so we beat the crowd...
I had chosen to see the movie Woman in Gold, and it was showing in Milford at 1:15.  We got there at 1:07!  Yay, us!  It's a pretty good movie, and I'm glad I saw it with Josh instead of Ron - Ron would never have understood it.  I thought it would have been a little more intrigue-ish, but it was still very well done.
When the movie was over, we decided to go over to Crackhead Barrel to eat - I can't turn down chicken-n-dumplings, now, can I - and it was right there?  I just walked over, because I'd just been sitting for so long and it's only across the parking lot.  And, yes, I got to the porch before Josh got the car parked and met me.  Yay, me!  Of course, we wandered around the store, too, and I showed him the beautiful peacock display they have there right now.  When we left, he bought me a peacock ring holder, even though he already had a gift for me.  He said he'd hold that gift and give it to me for my birthday - yep, that's my son!
We went back up to Eastgate by the shortcut.  I showed him the shortcut, and he said he knew where he was, but he didn't know it connected (yeah, right!), and once in Eastgate, we went and wandered around in Jungle Jim's until heading for home after a stop at WalMart.
Once home, even though I had texted Ron, Corgan wasn't ready and my car wasn't emptied.  My new plants are gonna suffocate!  So, I emptied my car, bitching the whole time, while Corgan went and got his stuff together and they got everything closed down.  Then it was bye and love-you hugs and off they went.

I came in the house, changed my clothes again, and then off Ron and I went to have an evening out with friends.  We spent the evening having supper, dessert, snacks, and playing Bingo.  We each bring a little prize (gift) in a brown paper bag.  Whoever wins that Bingo game, chooses a bag and SURPRISE!  We take turns calling the games, so we all have a chance to win.  We have a blast!
We didn't get home until well after midnight.  I was exhausted.

5/10
I got to sleep in this morning!  The alarm didn't go off until 9:00!
Sunday.  Church, lunch, and shopping.  Yep.  That's what we did.
We went to Walgreen's for prescriptions and to Kroger for Ron's tonic water before going to lunch at the Barn.  We knew it was Mother's Day, but we thought the Barn wouldn't be crowded because they didn't open til noon.  But, we forgot that since it was Mother's Day, the Barn wouldn't be having their regular menu, they were having a buffet with fried chicken, ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, and a salad.  There were also, I think, four selected items available. Cheeseburger, wings, chicken tenders...
That was it.  We both chose the buffet because we didn't want to try to go somewhere else.  It wasn't the best, but it wasn't the worst, so we were okay with our choice.
After lunch, we went over to WalMart and did our shopping, finishing up with getting more top soil.  It was kinda cool - we paid for all the groceries back in the garden center!
We came on home, unloaded the car, and just chilled for a bit.  Then we gathered up some energy and did some yard work.  We planted the catmint plant out by the mailbox.  We put a bunch of broken bricks in the square for the tomato plants (that we forgot to buy), then put some top soil in on top of those bricks to settle.  When we get the tomato plants, we'll put them in with the rest of the top soil.  I walked around taking pictures of all the flowers that are budding and blooming, the seeds that I planted that are starting to come up, and the new plants that I just got on Saturday.

It has been an absolutely wonderful Mother's Day weekend.
Absolutely. Wonderful.

Back to the real world tomorrow.  Or maybe a fake one, with me eating veggies and chicken noodle soup.  Ai yi yi!
