Once again, I have been neglecting my blog because of this 'cold,' if that's what this is, that is kicking my ass so bad. I have been functioning, but just barely, all through this holiday weekend.
I've been coughing my brains out - well, either coughing my lungs out or coughing until my head will explode (take your pick) - going for a period of time without coughing, then starting again. When I start, it won't stop for anything. Not cough drops, not Day- or Ny- Quil, not drinking tons of water, nothing. NOTHING. It is very aggravating. And, along with the coughing, is the raw, hurting, burning throat and very little voice.
We did have a busy weekend. We didn't get Corgan this weekend, because they had family come up from Florida. We went over to FeedMill for supper Friday night, then came home and watched dead guys the rest of the night.
On Saturday, after I did my weigh-in, in which I discovered that I gained almost a pound (.8 to be exact), Ron and I ran errands. LOTS of errands, since we were by ourselves. I got petunias to plant in the 'squares' (the square flowerboxes) out by the driveway - these are the only annuals I buy, and it was tough to decide between petunias and geraniums! We ate our lunch at Hibachi since I had coupons for there. We stopped at WalMart for our graveyard flowers and for the few items I needed to make dishes to take down to Josh's for a cookout tonight. That's only a couple of the errands - there were six or seven stops altogether!
We stopped at Mt. Moriah cemetery to visit his dad, putting two of our new petunias on his grave, since we hadn't been able to get any other flowers yet. We still can't find his grandparents there in the same cemetery since they cut down the trees we always used as our landmark. We always feel terrible, but we stop in the general area and say a prayer, much as we would do at the graves.
In the meantime, however, Josh was texting, telling us to come down an hour and a half earlier than we had expected to go! We tried to get our errands done a little quicker than planned, but we didn't do a very good job.
We finally got home, got stuff put together, and took off for Josh's and had our cookout with them and the other part of the family from Florida. Josh got plastered while talking to his brother-in-law, but said brother-in-law really needed to talk to someone, so it was all good. He can visit with us pretty much any time, and Florida is too far away for serious talk.
On Sunday, after church, we went to lunch and to the graveyard in Bethel. We had decided not to go to the graveyard in Georgetown because Ron drives to Georgetown every day, and drives by the graveyard often. He thinks of, and says a small prayer for, the ones there when he does, so didn't feel the need to do this today. I put flowers on the six graves there in Bethel, and an extra flower (the last one) there for Daddy. He doesn't really have a place we can go to, so...why not?
We got back home, planted our petunias, which took longer than expected, and we're pretty happy that the yard is as done as it can be this year. We spent the rest of the day over at Bert's house, with Ron mowing and me just sitting and visiting (outside). I didn't want to go inside and possibly spread my germs to her mom.
Monday - ah, Monday. This Monday is a holiday, though! WhooHoo! Ron still had to work, though, so we couldn't really plan anything. It was also supposed to rain like hell, although that had already been backed off from Sunday night to Monday, so we'll see about that. Josh had texted to find out if we wanted to have a cookout to get rid of some of the leftovers from Saturday night. Sounded good to us, so we half-assed planned that for the evening.
Bert had told she wanted to do something "tomorrow" when I was there yesterday, so she called me when she got up, and she came here first, to cut my hair, since she hadn't felt like doing it yesterday. After that, we went up to Gold Star to have some lunch, and I told her about our cookout tonight and that she was welcome to come back if she wanted to (she had to run an errand for her mom around 4), and she said she probably would. So, YAY, I finally got my hair cut!
Ron had (miracle!!) got home from work around 12:30, and was taking a nap. Josh and his family came up around 5 and we started getting the cookout ready. Bert showed up with watermelon, tomatoes, and oranges - yum! We had a great little cookout, with nothing extra bought for it! Who'd'a thunk it?
We talked about having a fire, but then didn't, because both Chelle and Ron have to get up for work in the morning.
Tuesday was Monday. Happy Homemaker Day. Whee! Not. This 'cold' or whatever it is, is kicking my ass so bad, that I literally collapsed into my recliner whenever I could. I did do my dishes, but I took lots of breaks. It's a good thing I use super duper hot water!
I didn't walk out to meet Ron. I didn't even get dressed until time to go to my TOPS meeting, which I dithered over whether or not I should go to, seeing that I am still coughing my brains out. I finally decided to go, since I haven't missed a meeting yet, well a weigh-in, except for going to something of Corgan's. Even when I broke my back, I still weighed in every week. I didn't stay for the meetings, since I couldn't sit, but I did weigh in. I was frustrated after weighing in, though, because according to their scale, I have gained almost another pound (.8 to be exact). Oooooooh!
I got home and Ron didn't have any supper ready. We then just basically had a clean-out-the-fridge night, having more leftovers from the cookouts. It did storm a bit today, so the plants got a good drink. The rain wasn't so bad here, but it was bad in other places, and there was even a tornado in Dayton early this evening.
I even went to bed early - before 11! And I was asleep by 12.
Today, I didn't do much of anything once again. Moving from the bed to the recliner, then just not moving so I wouldn't cough. Not that it helped much. I am throwing my hands up! \o/ I don't know what else to do!
I didn't walk out to meet Ron. I had put chicken breasts in the crockpot for our supper. We finished off all the cookout food with it. I guess I'll have to do dishes again tomorrow - there are enough dirty ones sitting there again!
The NyQuil bottle is calling me. I was hoping to stop taking it. Colds usually run their course in 7-10 days, and on Friday will be 14. That's enough - for me, anyway.
Ugh.
