I woke this morning and did my normal tableting and reading, then got up and piddled around, not doing much. I didn't have anything planned for the day, and I finally ran over to Felicity to make our payment on the Duke Energy bill. I didn't even know until Wednesday that you could pay bills in Felicity! I've been running down outside Amelia - I'm glad to know that I can go much closer to home when there isn't time to mail the payment!
When I got back from Felicity, the electricity had been shut off, and, man, was I pissed! We had not received any letters or anything, just the bill way back during April. I had checked the mail when I got home, and here was June's bill, so luckily I had the phone number to call them, which I immediately did. And you know what the asshole told me? I have to come up with $200 MORE!! Oh, was I steaming!! Now, I know that the bill is much higher over the winter, and I know that I don't pay the full amount every month, but it usually takes me til June to pay it all up. This totally blows my whole budget out of the water - for this week, anyway. I'm SO glad that this is a 5-week (5-payday) month - that gives me time to recover and straighten everything out. But ---- I could scream!!!!
As I'm waiting for the electricity to come back on, I work on making the potato salad for our cookout tomorrow night. I had cooked the potatoes yesterday, and just had to peel them, then chop the celery and onions and put everything together. I guess I will cook the eggs later! Ugh!
The electricity did come back on, and I texted Ron to bring home a dozen eggs, as I was using the last few we had to cook for the potato salad.
I put my gym shoes on at 5:15, and I am getting that done, and doing up the dishes as I need to (which is a change for me), when Ron texts me. He (they) are on 774 already. What!! I drop everything start walking. I didn't get to change my shirt. I didn't get to put my pocket stuff into my pockets. I didn't get to do anything - just GO. Man!!
I still managed to make it to the curves - I'm not sure how, it had to be pure adrenaline - before meeting up with him.
We got home, and I finished making the potato salads (we make two - one Miracle Whip, one mayonnaise), with both Ron and Corgan asking me man questions. You know, "What are you doing?" when it's quite obvious what I am doing. I also get the dishes finished up and go to sit in my recliner, and there is Corgan. Ugh!
I go to sit at the pute, although that didn't help my back any, but what can I say? I had banking to do, anyway, and so I did that.
After a while, we discussed supper but no one could agree on anything. We finally MADE Corgan put his tablet away so that we could show him the new flowers and plants so he won't run over them on the mower, even though he argued for about 15 minutes. We turned into the mean grandparents. We all went outside and walked around the yard.
We then ended up watering all the plants, figuring we might as well make it rain. Then Ron said that might as well plant those new plants (the ones Lois brought over last night) while we are outside and it's cooler. So, we figured out where we wanted those, and I said we might as well plant the other ones, too, and Ron acted all manly and asked, "What other ones?" So I had to point out the ones right under his nose. So we did.
We planted the Black Eyed Susans under the windmill in the front yard, the Dusty Miller (which is just foliage) under the tree copse, after cutting out all that other new growth, which is not anything different, but just growing new stuff from droppings from birds of the same trees/bushes, and the Hostas went behind the glider chairs/patio, where they will be in the shade. So we did accomplish something after all, but damn.
We came back in, and we all found something different for our suppers. Corgan made himself either Ramen Noodles or Chicken Noodle Soup, I had bacon, and Ron had an egg sandwich.
What a day! I am very glad it is over!
Fun stuff planned tomorrow - in the afternoon, anyway. Morning will just be usual Saturday stuff.
