Today was a pretty darn normal day. I can live with those, that's for sure. I got up at 11:30, got on the pute, caught my games up, then ran uptown to run some errands (bank, post office, etc.) and decided to go to Frisch's for my lunch. Now, those of you who know us pretty well, know that we are sick to death of Frisch's and don't choose to go there if we can get out of it. But, for some reason, today vegetable soup just sounded good, and Frisch's does have the best around here. So, I splurged just a bit and had a Big Boy, fries (yes, I succumbed to the urge...), and a bowl of vegetable soup, along with a little thing of tartar sauce to dunk my fries in.
After I got back home, I played on the pute some more, then thought about doing some Wii training, but then thought - it's so beautiful outside today, I'll walk to the end of Hoover Road and meet Ron when he comes home from work. That's a mile walk, so it should work out okay. I also decided to walk instead of riding the bike. I thought it would be too hard to handle carrying a chair, a drink, and a book on the bicycle. OK, decision made. So, no Wii.
Ron texted me at 5:30 - "back in ohio." WHAT! He should be starting to head home! My, my. He has been over in Kentucky this week because another guy is on vacation. Well, needless to say, I back my plans off a little. I finally left the house at quarter after six, thinking that should be time enough. Boy, was I wrong! I walked all the way to the end of Hoover - which is Jones-Florer - and even out and down J-F a little (there's a curve right there, and I wanted to make sure he wasn't coming from further down the road). Of course, you can hear his truck from five miles away, or so it seems, but I thought - what the hell? - and I felt fine at that point, and I had made pretty good time. Then, I walked back onto Hoover, and back to the second phone pole, so Ron couldn't miss me, and set up my chair and got my book out.
At SEVEN, I texted him, asking "Where r u?" and he called me, saying he just left the garage. Just Left The Garage! Yeah, he had fuel up the truck, and do his paperwork (working 13+ hours does that to a trucker), and he still had to make a stop on the way home to pick something up to work on for a friend. Well. I figure if I wanna get back home before full dark, I'd best start back soon. I finished the chapter I was in, then packed everything up, and took off. Man, it wasn't long before my hips started letting me know they were NOT happy with me. By the time I got up around the curves, I was starting to wonder if I was gonna make it or not. One of the neighbors was putting his garbage out, so I had an excuse to stop for a couple minutes and talk to him - hey, whatever works, right? Ugh. My hips didn't thank me for the stop, and here I thought they'd appreciate it. It was getting darker and darker, fast, too. I hadn't gone much further, though, when I heard a familiar sound coming up behind me....oh, thank the good Lord! Yay! Luckily, Ron saw me in the dusk/dark and stopped and picked me up. And, of course, as he stopped, a truck pulled into this end of the road - just our luck, right, so I had to 'hurry up' and climb into the truck. Yeah, with gimpy hips and a chair and all. <rolls eyes> But I got in and that truck had pulled to HIS left, so we played London and waved at each other and went on past.
Aahhhh, home again.
I made fish (square fish!!) and tater tots for supper. We just didn't want frozen food tonight. Ron was tired, and wanted super hot real food, and that was okay with me - lunch seemed a lifetime ago. Believe it or not, I was under my calories for the day - for TOPS. I was over for myfitnesspal. I'm okay with that. I was pretty proud of myself for being able (even with the bitching) to walk the two miles!
Today gets five stars for both food and exercise!!
