12/3

Today was a day of wrapping things up - baking and making-wise - because the Altar Society Christmas Dinner is tonight, and, while I know what I'm making, I must get them done.  One more trip to the store - this time to Felicity - for last-minute stuff, and I am ready to get started.  I didn't realize, though, that it was going to take quite so long to get them finished.  I took turns standing and sitting, hoping to not stress my back, but I don't think it worked.
By the time it was time to go the the Dinner, I was already hurting, and then was the party itself.  I was sitting and standing, doing a lot of things (I am treasurer, you know) that needed to be done and I didn't want to just sit there.
Needless to say, by the end of the night, my back was really putting up a fuss, and I was dawg-tired, boss.

I got home, and my sister came over, because she is having an angiogram in the morning and I am taking her.  At this point, it is not known if she is going to have to stay in the hospital overnight or not - it's going to depend on what they find during the procedure.  We shall find out!  She has to be there at 7, so we'll have to leave here by 6, and that's gonna come awfully early!

12/4

Today was such a fun (yes, this is said in sarcastic font) day.  Up at the buttcrack of dawn, after not getting to sleep until around 2, was the beginning of it all.  We made it down to the hospital in plenty of time, and she got checked in and all and the waiting started.  Her procedure wasn't scheduled until 9, so why she had to be there at 7, we have no idea.  They finally took her back, and I sat there and waiting a little over an hour until they brought her back.  Her heart doctor came in and talked to us both - they found nothing wrong in her heart - the pressure is fine and all that - and there are NO blockages, so no stents needed to be put in, which was very good, but it also left the question: why is the right side of her heart enlarged?  The doctor didn't know, but he didn't really seem too very worried about it, since there was nothing found wrong.
After she had laid there flat on her back for the requisite 2+ hours, they sat the head of her bed up.  After about an hour of that, they got her up into a chair.  We thought she'd have to sit there for an hour or more, but about 15 minutes later, the nurse came in with her discharge info and we got to leave (after she got dressed, of course), so that was a nice surprise for us.
Josh had let me know that he was going out making deliveries and how soon were we leaving?  I arranged with him to meet us at IHOP, cause Ruth and I were really hungry - it was after 1 by then - and he met us there.  So it was a nice little lunch for the 3 of us.  What a pleasant surprise - a second blessing on this day - and after the small disappointment of 'there's nothing wrong with Ruth's heart' (once again), it was very welcome!  Not that we wanted something to be wrong with her heart, but it would have been nice to get some kind of answer.

By the time we got back here, Ruth had decided to just stay here tonight.  She was told NOT to drive for 24 hours, and the choice was staying here or we could drive her car, as well as ours, to her place and then we'll come back home.  But there isn't good reliable 'help' at her house, so she decided to stay here.  We had totally forgotten about the after-care of an angiogram!  We were so concerned about getting her there, and what to do if she was going to stay overnight (get stents), we just didn't think of what would happen if she didn't stay!  We are dorks!
When we got here, Ron was already home from work - yes, the 'winter' stuff is truly starting now - and he had been puttering around with Ruth's car.  He is so funny - it's like he just can't rest when he comes home early.

After a bit, I realized that I had forgotten to stop at the store to get the ingredients for the 7-layer salad that I am making for a funeral luncheon up at church tomorrow.  So, I have to run back uptown and do this bit of shopping, then come home and make up the salad - and I also make up  a separate dish for us to have with our supper tonight.  Square fish patties, potato salad, and 7-layer salad - that was our supper tonight.
I got on the pute, and have caught up my games, and have now caught up my blog.  Yay!
My bed is calling me, and it's not even halftime.
