Getting things back on track

12/15
Today started early, because I had to get up to be ready when my sister got here.   I was taking her downtown to the oral surgeon, and we had to go early, because of rush-hour traffic, school buses, and other unknown things out there.  We sure didn't want to be late!  Since this is a clinic, we're gonna be sitting there long enough as it is.
We get down there (Holmes Hospital, on the UC campus) and find out that Jean isn't even in the computer!  Great!  Luckily, she had her appointment paper from the last visit, proving that she was supposed to be here at this date and time, so the receptionist went to ask the doctor about working her in, then she came and told us that Jean would be taken back FIRST (hip hip hooray) and it's all gonna work out okay.  I think it worked out even better - if they had gone by the appointment, we may not have gotten out of there until way in the afternoon, and as it was, we got out of there by quarter after 11.  We were happy campers!
Since Jean now has no - as in zero - front teeth, we couldn't stop to eat anywhere, but since Jean hadn't eaten any breakfast, she really needed some kind of sustenance.  She finally decided that she thought she would be able to 'stomach' a strawberry milkshake from McDonald's, so I drove through the one here in Bethel.  I got her the shake, and myself a large order of fries - just about the only thing from McDonald's that I can eat - and came on home.  We sat here and visited until she felt stable enough to drive herself on home.  She said she felt like the Bumble (in Rudolph) and I told her to behave or I'd throw her off a cliff, because Bumbles bounce!  (Yes, I'm a good sister!)

After she left, and I knew she got home okay - yes, I was worried - I laid down and took a nap.  I don't normally do that, but this stress-y day was not normal.  I got back up, did some of my exercises, then got myself ready for Ron to text me that he was on his way home.  He called me a little after 5 - he was still out on a run - picking up a dumpster - and was gonna be late.  Real late.  Well, I guess I'm not gonna walk today, because I'm not walking in the dark!  Bummer.

When he got home, we decided on Hamburger Helper for our supper.  While the hamburger was cooking - it was frozen - I had to go uptown to go to the bank to make a small deposit to cover one of those damn automatic withdrawals that I forget about.  Arrrggggghhhhh.  We don't need this!  But it's happening...
Ron watches the hamburger, does his evening paperwork, and gets his shower, all while I was gone.  I was impressed!  Then we watched Quantum Leap until time for football.

Nothing on the agenda for tomorrow except playing Happy Homemaker.

12/16

I woke early this morning.  Early, as in 6:30!  I had the alarm set for 8, and I really beat it.  I had to call the doctor's office to cancel appointments, because we just plain ol' can't afford to go this week.  I got them rescheduled for January, so that's all good.
When I got up, I jumped right into Happy Homemaker mode and got laundry (regular clothes) started.  Then, while those were going, I started in on the dishes.  There actually weren't all that many - I kept them up as I could while I was making and baking - but there were enough.  When the clothes were dry, I got a load of towels done, also, as well as other small piddly tasks around here done.  I also got my exercises done - all of them for a change! - made some phone calls, and things like that.
It was a busy, busy, busy kind of day!

I took a shower at 4, thinking that I had plenty of time to get ready before hearing from Ron.  Well, I was mostly right.  I went to get dressed - warmly dressed for outside - at quarter til 5, and my phone went off.  Yep, it was him!  I rushed to finish getting dressed, gym shoes on, coat and scarf and all that on, too, and out the door as quickly as possible, since I knew he was on his way.
Amazingly, I made it all the way to our half-mile mark before he pulled onto the end of Hoover Road.  I found out that he had stopped for gasoline, and that was what had given me the extra time.  Damn, and here I thought I was just doing a good walking job!

We got back home, and I got changed to go to my TOPS meeting.  I was kinda dreading this, because I missed last week because of Corgan's Christmas Concert, and I've been to Christmas parties in these two weeks.  I've tried to control myself and make good choices, but they are Christmas parties.
I get there and weigh in.  SUCCESS!!  I have lost 1.6 pounds!  WhooHoo!  <happy dance>  I am so relieved!  I feel that I can handle the rest of the holidays now...

Once again, nothing on the agenda for tomorrow.  I shouldn't have to play Happy Homemaker too much - I might put away the laundry and the dishes, but that's about it.  I guess I'll find stuff to do around here.  I might even get on the Wii Fit again now - I feel re-energized!
