Man, have I been a SLACKER, or what?? Sorry about that!
12/17
Not much happened on Wednesday. I didn't work up enough energy to get on the Wii. I am still a little afraid of doing that.
I did little bits and pieces of housework all day, and I plotted out strategies for finishing our Christmas shopping over the next couple of days. Finish! God, I feel so out of it this year. Not only do I have to get crappy (read: cheap) gifts, I have to space the buying out so much, it's pathetic.
When walking out to meet Ron, I actually made it to our half-mile mark - man, Ron couldn't get there quick enough!
Ron and I went to church for the seasonal penance service, and then home for the evening.
Not a real good day - I was feeling blah by the end of it, but that is not unexpected this time of year.
12/18
Starting to work our plan today!
Ron called me when he got his paycheck, and I went to meet him and get it from him, so I could make our deposit and get some shopping done while he was at work (he doesn't like to go) and get the things we needed for Corgan while Corgan wasn't with us, like he will be on Saturday morning. Let me tell you, it's almost like a plot from a mystery, planning shopping around these male creatures!
By the time I met Ron, then got back to 'civilization,' it was after 2, so I needed to eat some lunch. I decided to go to Longhorn and have my almost-perfect salad. After some thought - the reason I was eating lunch was to head off a sugar low - I also had an order of the corn fritters (YUM!), just to have some starch with this lunch. As I went on over to Meijer, I felt fortified for this bit of shopping.
I accomplished this mission, and barely got home before Josh stopped to pick some things up. I did walk out to meet Ron, but didn't get very far today. I was tired, and didn't, or couldn't, walk very fast.
Ron and I watched some Quantum Leap, then I watched Bones (which ended up being a rerun), then football time! He had one of his Chinese frozen things for supper, and I had chicken noodle soup, which we ate while watching TV.
12/19
I thought about going and doing my shopping today, but then decided not to, since I knew that Ron would have to go shopping on Saturday morning, because I didn't get everything done yesterday. I just ran out of time, and HE is the one who still needs gifts, not me! Why run down the road and waste the gasoline if I don't have to? I did run up to Bethel and do some little errands that needed done - you know, the little piddly things that will get done "one of these days." I had Gold Star for my lunch while I was uptown. It was pretty chilly and that warmed me up pretty good!
Back home, I was ready (because I was up and dressed) when Ron texted me that they were on their way, and I actually managed to make it all the way to our half-mile mark! WhooHoo! It seemed to take forever for him to get there, and then I found out that he stopped for gasoline. Well, that will take a bit of time, won't it? But he got the gasoline for $1.99 per gallon for cash, and why pass that up? Under 2 bucks!! Oh, yes, thank you very much!
I had a surprise planned for Ron, and I had the beginnings of the this plot started at home. I had all my Christmas ornaments laid out all over the kitchen table, and Corgan and I were to check them against my list (yes, I am anal enough to have an Ornament List). As we were doing this, an awful lot of ornaments couldn't be found. We finally went back down the hallway and looked through the popcorn tins, and, sure enough, I had missed a tin full of ornaments! Ai yi yi! Well, we found the missing ornaments and then some. After taking a break or two, we finally got "all" the ornaments checked against the list.
As the night went on, we had our supper. Corgan made himself some Ramen noodles earlier, then we all had whatever we wanted during the evening. I finally had some chicken noodle soup around 10. A little late, but when you're busy, you just don't stop to eat unless you have to.
We finally talked Ron into going to bed, and he made Corgan go to bed, too. Hmmmm. I had to piddle around, then make sure he was asleep, then go get Corgan back up to help me. Then we set up the surprise: Ron's own little Christmas tree, with all of his ornaments on it, right in the little corner between his chair and the tall lamp. He has deer, motorcycles, and guitar ornaments, as well as Yosemite Sam and some personalized things. If I can have MY own tree (the sports tree), why can't, or shouldn't, he have HIS own tree, too?
Corgan and I had a blast decorating that little tree! Then Corgan went back to bed, and I shut the house down and finally went to bed, too.
12/20
I felt Ron stirring, starting to get up this morning, so I got out of bed before him and got out here in the living room, where Corgan was already up and playing on the Wii. We wanted to see his reaction to his surprise, you know.
He got out here, said, "What?" and walked over to his chair and sat down. Corgan and I are just watching him. He said, "What?" again and rubbed his face a couple of times. Corgan told him that it snowed and was still snowing. He nodded, and did NOT move the curtain (right beside his chair) to look out. Then he said, "What?" again. I gave up and went to the bathroom. Suddenly, I heard, "Oh, I guess," from the living room, so I assume he finally noticed his tree. I'm not sure if Corgan pointed it out to him or not, but somehow he saw it. Let me tell you, my son and his son got there no-showing-emotion honestly! I could wring all their necks sometimes!
After we all got dressed, we took off to get Ron's shopping done. Our first stop? Cracker Barrel! A bite to eat, and a pecan pie for dessert on Christmas. Corgan had chicken and dumplings, Ron had pork chops, and I had the double meat breakfast. Then, the shopping in the little store - my favorite part!
After that, it was on to Meijer. We thought we had the best chance of finding something on Josh's list there, so that was where we were going to look. We had success at Meijer, not as much as we'd've liked, but we did better than we thought we were going to, so Ron's shopping is done now.
Now, on to WalMart, so I can do the grocery shopping. I could have done it at Meijer, but I don't know where things are in Meijer and I was afraid I'd forget something, so I didn't. I felt more comfortable going to WalMart where I knew where everything was.
Back home, I got groceries put away and the other things sorted - things to take down to their house for Christmas, things to wrap, all those type of things....what a hodge-podge of items we bought today! Then we just got to relax for the evening. Whew!
I went to make supper and discovered that I didn't have one ingredient. Phooey! I decided to go to Felicity instead of Bethel to get it, and when I got there, that IGA didn't have what I needed. Really? Now I have to drive all the way to Bethel anyway! Double Phooey! So...off I go. I ended up being gone for more than an hour, for a quick little trip to the store.
I started a sugar low while leaving IGA and I couldn't get home quick enough! Luckily, besides the hard candies that I keep in my pockets, I had 2 Dum-Dum suckers in my car. When I got home, I checked my sugar and it was 46 then - and that was after candies on the way home! shitshitshit
I gobbled down a dozen or so jelly beans,
I finally get to make our supper - that shrimp dish (made with lemon (juice) and a packet of Italian dressing) and baked. While I was at the store, I also got french fries to go with it, so we had shrimp and fries. I was so washed out for a long time, though. I hate sugar lows so bad!
I just sat here on the pute and played my games, ate my supper, and that was about it for the night.
I'm glad I'm feeling better (stronger) now, but that was a bit frightening.
I thought about doing some wrapping and stuff now that Corgan's been picked up, but I think I'll wait. I just don't feel like it.
Ron and I are probably going to leave early tomorrow and go visit a friend in the hospital before going to church. At least, right now, that's the plan. Then, we're going to the Barn for lunch - and my brother is going to meet us there! Yay! Anybody else want to meet us? They open at noon, and though football starts at 1, my Bengals play on Monday night this week, so I don't have to be home for kickoff.
