Getting stuff done!

Friday, December 12, 2014

I woke up this morning around 9:30, and didn't get up until 11, as usual.  But, since I knew that I had things to do, I made myself get up and get going.  To start the day, I jumped into Happy Homemaker mode and did the dishes, because I knew that I was going to dirty up a lot more before the day was over.  After that chore was done, I wrapped and wrapped and wrapped - all the stuff that I had bought while shopping yesterday.  I had to get it done, because we get Corgan on Friday nights!  I wanted Josh to stop and take the box of wrapped gifts on home with him as he went home today, so I had to get that done before anything else.

Then I started thinking - why should I make these goodies by myself, when Corgan is going to be here, and he can help me?  We can make wonderful memories of "cooking" or "making" stuff together, right?  So I put off the making and baking so that he could help me.  I did keep busy all day, though.  After the wrapping was finally done, I just did general clean-up and I also got a little bit of my exercises in there, too.  I took a lunch break (I ate a can of my chicken salad) and played on the pute a bit, too.

Josh stopped and got the gifts, and not long after, Ron called me to say that he was waiting for them to bring Corgan to him.  As we talked, they pulled in, so as soon as we hung up, I finished getting ready and started walking.  Since I had plenty of warning, I actually made it to our half mile mark!  I was pretty proud of myself - I haven't made it that far in a long, long time.  It sure was getting dark, though, and I was glad to see and hear his truck pull onto the end of Hoover Road!
When we got home, we quickly had to get things together to go on a rescue run.  My sister, whose car Ron had worked on when she was here, has had a flat tire, and she needs a new tire.  Her quasi son-in-law David will not put the donut on for her (he thinks they are dangerous) and she can't afford to keep putting air into the tire that keeps going flat - IF she can get to the air - so something must be done.  Unfortunately, the tire Ron has isn't on a rim, so he is taking it so that David can fix it up for her.  Ron can't do it unless her car is here, where all his tools and equipment is, and that's not going to happen because of both of their work schedules (she works third shift).  So, we are taking the tire up to David, and hopefully he will get it fixed and onto her car without delay.  But -- we shall see.
After that, since we were so close to Mt. Orab, we went on up to that little Mexican restaurant up there for our supper.  Yum!  Let me say that again - YUM!  I had the chicken chimichanga, with the sides on a separate plate and a second chimichanga, that I usually get, and since Ron was with me, he got to eat the sides instead of me bringing them home to him.  He had the chimichanga jalista, and Corgan had the quesadilla El Camino Real (the name of the restaurant), and both of them really enjoyed what they got tonight.  We ate the hell outta the chips (and salsa - Corgan loved the HOT) and even brought home what was left of the third basket of 'em.

Once home, Ron fell asleep in his chair and Corgan and I made Rice Krispie Christmas trees for the party Ron and I are going to tomorrow night.  They came out pretty darn good, if I do say so myself.  We had a lot of fun making them, and I think they are cute.

Then Corgan finally turned on the TV - Most Stupid, what else? - and I got on the pute.  Now it's a typical Friday night.

Tomorrow morning, I'll bake my Christmas Cake and I'll let Corgan help me ice and decorate it.  It's gonna be fun!  He is a little artistic - he did the 'garlands' on the Rice Krispie trees - so we'll see how the cake turns out.  I'm sure it's gonna be pretty, no matter what.
I'm also making Surprise Strawberry Brownies - they will be very colorful!

Have I mentioned that I L*O*V*E this time of year??
