I woke up this morning around 11. It was a little strange - I usually wake earlier, then get up around then, but it is what it is. A while later, I was lying there in bed, playing on the tablet, when Ron texted me that he was on his way home. Already?? On a Monday?? Wow. That is not good - mostly because it probably means this is the beginning of the winter slow-down. I guess we'll find out.
It ended up being a good thing, because Ruth had asked if Ron could come over and look at her car at some point. I had already told her 'probably not, because it's Monday' but now I could tell her 'the gods are smiling on you today!' and that we'd be over after he got some lunch and I got my lazy ass up and dressed.
We did what we needed to do and went over there around 2:30. Unfortunately, Ron couldn't give her good news. It looks as though if she chooses to fix the car, it's going to cost as much as buying a different (cheap!) one, as well as taking a whole bunch of time. It would probably be best to scrap this one, and use that money to help finance the next one. I don't know what she's going to decide to do. At this point, we've done all we can do to help, though. I wish we could do more, but...
We got back home, and I put the rest of the leftover stew on the stove to heat up for our supper, which would be in a couple of hours. Then, I got into Happy Homemaker mode and did up most of the dishes from over the weekend. Man! It was almost as bad as the Thanksgiving dishes! I did miss some dishes that were over on the far counter (inside pans!) and I didn't do a couple of pans - on purpose - but I will get them done tomorrow. I am glad that I got the rest of them done and put away, though. It made the kitchen look so much better, and made me feel like I accomplished something today, which I needed after not being able to help Ruth.
We ate supper around 6:30 and spent the evening watching TV. I sure miss my Monday Night Football already! But -- I have to get used to regular programming again now.
Nothing planned for tomorrow, just more Happy Homemaker crap.
