Ron called me today - on the house phone - and woke me up. It was a little bit after noon, and he was worried because he hadn't heard from me yet. Yes, I told him, I was still sleeping (thank you, NyQuil!), and why did he call on the house phone? He said because I didn't answer my cell. Hmmmm. After we hung up, my brain kicked in a little, and I looked at my cell - it was still on vibrate from the football games yesterday! Duhhhhhh. Sorry about that, baby!
I got up after playing on the tablet for a little while - gotta catch up my games, ya know! - and started in on playing Happy Homemaker. I put a load of towels in the washer, and started in on doing the dishes, as I usually do on Mondays. I also started - continued, really - putting away our Christmas gifts and some decorations. Man, what a sad time of year!! I got some new things hung on the walls, and had some troubles with others and had to wait for some help to get here.
I also did my stand-up exercises. I'm still too chickenshit to do the lay-down exercises. I'm not sure I'll be able to get back up!
I also heard from my friends about what was needed after the house fire the other day, and made some decisions about what we could or would be able to give.
I was pretty proud of how much stuff I got done today, considering.
Josh stopped to drop off our football slips for this weekend, and I had him help with the hanging-up problems, and then he operated on my left foot. I've had problems ever since Christmas Eve - it has felt like I'm walking on ground glass - but I didn't want to be a big fuss while down there, and since we came home, I've asked Ron to look at it, and he always comes up with excuses. It's really been bugging me, and I knew Josh was going to stop today, so this worked out real good. He dug around with clippers and tweezers, and finally got a splinter (in two pieces) out of my foot. Oh, it felt soooo much better! Don't ask me why one splinter felt like ground glass, either, cause I can't start to guess that! Maybe it was just where it was...
When Ron finally got home a little after 6, I told him about going through our closets and finding things for Derek and his family and taking them over to Derek's mom's tonight. BIG snowstorm is supposed to come in tonight, so it would be better to get it done tonight, right? He fussed a little - he was tired - but we got this little job done, and we both felt good about it. It wasn't much, but when you've lost everything, every little bit is more than what you have now.
We came back home, and I made hamburgers for our supper. We finished off bags (he had his, and I had mine) of potato chips with the burgers and that was supper. We then watched TV - dead guys! - the rest of the night.
Tomorrow, I have to run down to visit the Wals - Walgreens and WalMart - and Bert & I were hoping to go over and visit Teresa. But, with this snow they're predicting, we'll have to wait and see. Hopefully, it'll go north, as usual, but there is already a dusting on my car (snow gathered in the edges of the windows, etc.) and the top of the nativity stable is covered, too. So.......
