1/8
When Ron left for work this morning, the temperature was -1. MINUS 1, and that's not counting the wind chill, which was probably about 20 below zero. Brrrrrr! I hate, really hate, that he has to work in frigid temps like this. This is the stuff I worry about - absolute freezing, and nothing you can do about it. I'm glad I sleep through the worse of it!
Well, believe it or not, his truck would not run, either! It did the same damn thing it did before. Remember? Last winter, and we had to spend over $200 and over a week to find out what it was and buying the part, then getting one of the mechanics at his work to put the part on (after work, of course), and now it's doing the. exact. same. thing.???? I call bullshit!! He finally just drove my car to work - it's a good thing I didn't have plans today!
He was totally amazed (I don't know why - my BengalMobile is a.w.e.s.o.m.e.!) that it started right up and stayed running when it hadn't been run for a couple of days. Silly man...
Me, on the other hand, went back to sleep and when I got up, moved out to my recliner after I started a venison stew in the crockpot. (We had beans yesterday, and stew and beans are great cold day suppers! They sure help warm up the house!) and just stayed there. I thought about having myself a 'Good Wife' marathon, but between getting up earlier and going back to sleep and all, it was too late to watch more than an episode or two, so I didn't.
After a bit of reading, I did get up, eat a banana, and do a little Happy Homemaker stuff, finishing getting all the Christmas stuff down and put away. All I have left to do is my Sports Tree, and it'll all be gone for this year.
When Ron was on his way home, around 4, he called me and told me to get ready so that we could go uptown and do the banking that we need to do on payday. He said we might as well do it while the car was warm. While I was getting dressed, I was trying to figure out why in the world I had to go uptown with him, but I eventually figured out that it was because he didn't want to go into the grocery store and buy a can of peas for me - he wanted to keep the car running - and warm - while I ran in. Silly man!
When we got home, I added the peas to the stew, and a little while later, made us biscuits to go with it, and that was supper.
A night of dead guys followed.

I had to get up with Ron this morning to take him to catch a ride to work. Only uptown, but I still had to get up to do it, because I had errands to run today and needed my car. After coming home, of course I couldn't sleep, so I read until 6 or so, then finally drifted back off.
My cell phone started getting texts just after 9, which was an hour before the alarm was set to go off, I dealt with those things, then dozed back off, and then the alarm went off way too early. But I managed to drag my lazy ass up. Luckily, one of the earlier texts was changing a meeting from 11 to 1, so I didn't need to rush, but I still had things to do before I left here.
I left at noon so I could do my errands before meeting Lisa at 1. I went up to church, to pick up letters to solicit donations for the Quarter Auction from local businesses, and to drop off our last fundraiser check, and to get the secretary's opinion on my report from the Craft Show. Then it was off to the Post Office to mail off some boxes, then stopped at the bank to make our house payment. I got to Frisch's, where Lisa and I were meeting, at twenty til 1, and I got myself some lunch. I got a Buddie Boy (American cheese, not Swiss), french fries, and a cup of veggie soup, which I had to put 2 packs of crackers in. Lisa showed up just as I got my food, and she got herself a bowl of veggie soup, and she put a lot of crackers in hers, too.
We got done what we had to get done, and then just sat and talked for a little bit. It was a nice visit!
After I left there, I stopped at IGA to pick up stuff to make for meals over the weekend - we get to meet Chip's wife and her daughter! That's gonna be so nice! They are stopping on their way home from Alabama - other family stuff - and are taking this opportunity to meet us! Chip is home, watching over their responsibilities while they are taking this trip. She has done it while Chip has gone places (here and to Chris', for example), so it's only right! Right? I can't wait....
I went up and picked Ron - and Corgan, it is Friday - up when he called me, and we all came home and had a pleasant evening here at home. They watched one of Ron's movies from Christmas tonight, instead of Most Stupid, thank God! - I think it was Expendables 3. I was on the pute, finishing taking down my Sports Tree, and washing dishes.
Oh, and the highlight of my day?? It was a lowlight. I dropped one of my ornaments - my autographed Corey Dillon ornament - and it shattered into a billion zillion pieces. Josh went through hell to get me that autograph, let alone on an ornament, and now it's gone. I am heartbroken and heartsick.
Tomorrow will be spent running more errands. Taking donations over to the family from the house fire, picking up prescriptions, and I have to stop at the store to pick up a tub of butter. Whee!
Then home to await Jackie letting us know she is close, so we can 'talk' her in and her GPS won't get her lost. Oh -- and FOOTBALL!!
