1/10
I got up this morning, did my Wii weigh-in (ugh - gained a little, almost 2 pounds), and then Ron, Corgan, and I went off to do errands. We went over and dropped off donations we have collected to the family that was in the house fire. ~~They thank everyone SO much! They have plenty of basic stuff for now, and are so overwhelmed and grateful for the support.~~ We went down to pick up prescriptions at Walgreen's, and went to lunch down at Hibachi Grill. That was Ron's choice, and since he was buying (paying), I couldn't argue too much, now could I? Then we stopped at WalMart, so I could pick up a new tub of butter. Ron put gas in my car while I was in the store, so we did 2 errands at once there!
Finally, we got back home and we were going to stay! They went out and tried to take down the nativity scene, but everything is frozen to the ground, so that didn't work out and they came on back into the house - to get under my feet. I put them to work though, I had them put all the Christmas tins up in the attic! So, Christmas is technically over in my house now. Boo.
We were getting the house ready, because my sister-in-law Jackie and her daughter Liz were stopping in to meet us on their way home to New York from Alabama. She's never been able to come in for a visit with Chip, because they have dogs and can't afford to kennel them all, plus they don't like to leave her mom 'alone' for any length of time. We can understand that! But, Jackie and Liz had gone to Alabama for family on Liz' side, and this is a good time for all this to happen. They should get here around 7 or so tonight. Right in the middle of football - but that's okay, Jackie's a Patriots fan!
Josh and his family came up (at halftime), because I am making a big supper for everyone, so they will be here when Jackie and Liz get here. I start getting anxious when 7:30 comes and goes, and everyone has a grand old time laughing at me. I can't help it though - I know how long it takes to drive from x to here, and they should have been here!
They finally get here, and the craziness of having visitors begins.
Throughout the rest of the game, I bounce between cooking and watching the game, and not long after the game is over, I get supper on the table. I let them all start with a big old salad while I got the rest of supper on the table. I made meat loaf, mashed potatoes, beef gravy (okay, I cheated - that was from a jar), rice-a-roni, and green beans. I forgot to get the big jar of applesauce out of the fridge, but Ron will eat it all eventually. We sat around the table, talking and laughing, for quite a while. I finally went back in the living room to watch football while the rest of them stayed out in the kitchen visiting. Hey, football is important, and I'm have Jackie and Liz tomorrow morning. They're spending the night!
After they all left, we finally all got settled down for the night - it was not fun trying to settle Corgan down, he likes to stay up watching TV and just couldn't or wouldn't understand why he couldn't tonight. Someone sleeping in the recliner shouldn't have been a deterrent, according to him, but he finally built himself a fort between my desk and Ron's recliner to sleep in and settled down. Whew!

Jean came back up to spend time with Jackie and Liz today while I watched football. They had planned to go up and visit Ruth, too, but Liz didn't feel too very good when they got up this morning, so Jackie thought that maybe they had best get on the road and try to go home. (You know - you just feel better at home.) So, with that Change of Plans, when Jean got here, we took Jackie and Liz uptown and introduced them to Gold Star Chili. Yes, Gold Star! And, yes, we have a convert!! Jackie loved it! Liz only got a club sandwich, because of her upset stomach, so she lost out, but Jackie now knows what all the excitement is about every time Chip comes home. She even got a six-pack of coneys to take home to him (it's only a 7 hour drive, and he'll eat them cold, or zapped).
They left to head home to New York, and we came back home. Jean hung around until football time, then she and Corgan went on, too.
Ron and I watched football the rest of the day. Well, I did. Ron did a while, then had to get up and do stuff. He went outside and actually managed to take the nativity scene down - it got that warm today - as well as just piddling around out in the garage. He drives me crazy! Eventually, though, he came back in and watched football with me again.
I heated up leftovers for our supper. I don't like to have the same thing 2 days in a row, but sometimes I make an exception, and this was one of those times. It tasted just as good tonight as it did last night hot off the stove!
Nothing planned for tomorrow. Possibly supposed to be a nasty day - winter weather advisory is in effect until 1pm tomorrow. I don't know if it will come here, but it's already bad out there - my sister Ruth has wrecked her car (she, her daughter, and her granddaughter who were all in the car are all okay, but the car is most probably toast) on black ice - so, needless to say, I'm worried already.
