A Granny and Corgan Day, while Grandpa fixed the house

Saturday, September 13, 2014

My day started way too early this morning.  I had to go to my final weigh-in for this go-round of my Biggest Loser Contest by 9am.  Ugh!  But, I did it - I got my lazy ass up at 8 and got down the road with Corgan, stopping at Dunkin Donuts for him a coffee and me a tea, and made it in time.  I did way worse than I expected.  According to the official scale, I gained 4.4 pounds, I gained 2.75 inches, and God only knows about my percentage....I knew I wouldn't do very well pound-wise, because I couldn't exercise much, but I was hoping for better in the inches category.  Oh, well, now that I'm doing better (and Dr. Stupido even wants me to do PT), I plan on kicking ass this time around!  Anybody else want to join?  It costs 20 bucks for each go-round, and our 12 weeks will take us to December 6th, so you can win some Christmas money!

Corgan and I stopped to do the shopping on our way home, because I had to get him some pants for school as well as my groceries, and his parents had given me the money to do so.  Corgan had to try them on - he's growing so much!  We got the shopping done, then came home to a total mess in the house, as Ron had delivered a lawnmower to a friend, then got to talking to him about our mess with the leak and all, and he offered to come look, because he just had to fix some plumbing at his (rented) house.  So they were working on the pipe under the house, the clog in the kitchen drain, and all of that, and my kitchen was a total mess.  Corgan played on the Wii, and I got on the pute, and we just stayed out of their way.
Around 2, we were going to go uptown and get some lunch.  When we told Ron and Brian, we found out that they were getting ready to go down to Home Depot or Lowe's to get parts and pipes and clamps and who-knows-what-all.  They will pick up some lunch while they're out, so that all worked out pretty well.  Corgan and I went to Frisch's, where he got Buffalo Chicken Tenders and fries and the salad bar and I got a Pork Tenderloin sandwich and fries.
When we got home, we laid in on my bed and played Hangman, and that boy plays Cut-Throat Hangman!!  Damn!
The guys got back, carrying a case of beer to enjoy while they were working (hey, they are guys!) and worked under the house and in the kitchen more (and more...and more...and more) until they finally got it ALL done.  All of it - the pipe, the drain, every last little bit - and it only took them from 9:30-10 this morning til 7 tonight, that's all.  And, when Ron went to the bathroom, he flushed afterward and the toilet did NOT make the growling noise it has been making for ~oh, a couple months or more ~ quite a while.  Maybe that leak under the house was the cause of that, too!  Who knows?  But now that is fixed, too! What a bonus!
Speaking of bonuses, when Ron tried to give Brian at least 20 bucks for helping us, he wouldn't take it.  He said, "You're my friends, aren't you?  You help me out when I need it, don't you?  Put your money away."  What a blessing to have friends like that!

I had been texting Josh, making arrangements for supper - I didn't want them to come up when I couldn't cook supper yet - and we agreed that we would bring Corgan home, and they would make supper when we're on the way, and we'll just have a late supper.  Well, they will have a late supper, and we'll have supper a bit later than normal.  Haha.  So, that's what we did.  I let them know we're on the way, and when we got there, supper was just getting done.  We had fish sticks, white cheddar macaroni shells, and corn.  Then we just sat around at the table and talked.
It was a nice relaxing evening.  We left to come home a little after 10, and it was quite an adventure coming home.  I almost hit a kitty cat zooming across the road in Utopia right in front of me, then there was a deer just off the road to the left (on the side of the river) not very far past Utopia, then there was this dog in Felicity...man, was I glad Ron was sleeping and didn't see any of them, and didn't give me a hard time.  "Did you see that _____?"   Well, yeah, I saw them, but what could I do?  Sometimes that man drives me crazy!  But sometimes I drive him crazy, so we're even.  37 years will do that to a couple, I guess.

We got home and he turned on the TV to "catch the news."  I laughed at him and got on the pute.

Church, lunch, and football tomorrow!
