9/28

Another normal Sunday.  Church, lunch, football.  Nothing new, except we didn't rush home to be there by or shortly after 1.  The Bengals are on their BYE this week, so even though I'm going to watch football, there's no rush to try to catch kickoff.  After church, we go down to Amelia and have lunch at Campbell's Barn, which we haven't done for a long while.
Ron got to have his fried chicken, with onion rings and green beans, while I had a double decker BLT and fries.  We got home and watched football all day, as usual, snacking all day (Ron!), not as usual, but it happens.  I did finally cave in and snack a little, but no way near as much as Mr. Snack-a-Holic did - he even amazed me, the way he kept nibbling all day!  I said something to him once, and he denied it, then not 5 minutes later was asking me, "Where are those (whatever (I don't remember now) things)? I know I just saw them!" and I just laughed at him.
We had a clean-out-the-fridge night for supper - he ended up having cabbage leftovers, and I had chicken and dumplings leftovers - and that was that.

He fell asleep after eating supper (surprise!) and I watched until halftime of the Sunday night game, then we went to bed.
Big fun exciting day for us!

9/29

Ron woke me up this morning before he left for work, and I couldn't get back to sleep, so I read until around 7, then I finally fell back asleep.  I slept until just after 11, and read a little bit more before getting up.  I did have 3 messages already on my cell phone, and that was really nice to wake up to!

When I got up, I did my usual Monday morning play-Happy-Homemaker thing, doing the dishes from the weekend and straightening up here in the living room.  Corgan had his friend with him this past weekend, and it was looking a little worn.  Not that I particularly care, but it did give me something to do besides playing on the pute between my 'loads' of dishes, although I did that, too.
I got lots and lots of messages (posts to my timeline on Facebook), too, and that made me feel really good, because I have been really slacking about leaving people such messages since returning to the pute after the big fall.  My brain just didn't work correctly at first, and then it seemed there was an occasion every day, so I didn't get a chance to apologize for missing so many, and - now, here I am, being so blessed by so many of my friends and family remembering ME (anyway)!

A little after 2, I had a hankering for a ham sandwich, and the only ham I had here was frozen, so I got it out to thaw for my supper, and I went uptown to have a Buddie Boy at Frisch's.  Yeah, I know - damn ol' Frisch's - but I wanted a ham sandwich, and that's all that I knew of here in Bethel.  I enjoyed my 'ham sandwich' - the Buddie Boy - and an order of onion rings, then went to Family Dollar to pick up a bag of potting soil to repot a couple of my plants that have needed it for a long time, then to the Post Office to try to find a package/envelope that I have never received from a friend, but should have by now.  Of course, they know nothing.  Phooey!  I figured that I did my 5 minutes worth of walking while I was uptown, and that's what I was supposed to do.  5 minutes of walking, twice a day.

I get back home.  I put away all the dishes that I had done earlier.  I repot my plants - one branch of aloe that had broken off, and some mother-in-law's tongue that was getting too big for the pot it's in - and start to get things ready, so when Ron lets me know he's on 774, I can walk out Hoover Road to meet him.  Not 5 minutes later, I get a text from him.  I assume he is telling me OK from my telling him I am home from uptown.  WRONG!!  It is him telling me that he is on 774, on his way home.  Crap!  I rush around, closing the back doors, putting on my socks and gym shoes, getting my walking stick out of the car, and the little things I need to do to leave the house to walk.  Crap, crap, crap!  I am not ready yet!  I'm not expecting this, not for another half hour!  But I get out walking, checking my time, and I get onto Hoover Road, not very far down, but I did get some walking in.  I check the time after he stops and picks me up, and I did walk for five minutes, and that's what the physical therapist wanted, so that's what I did today.  I wasn't real happy with it, but that's what happened, so I'll have to live with it.

We get back home, and walk around the back yard, looking at things.  The pink honeysuckle is not as dead as I thought it was - there are some blooms on it!  I am glad, because I thought that baby was a total goner.  The locust tree it is up against is about to fall, though, and that could end up ~not pretty.  We had planted 3 lilac trees earlier this year - right before my fall, actually - and only one is doing any good.  One looks totally dead, one is probably consumed by a morning glory, and the last one is doing wonderfully!  Of course, it was a little bit of a bigger plant when we got it, so it had a better chance, anyway, but still.  Sigh.  Maybe we just didn't water them enough after the first few weeks, I just don't know.  I guess we'll find out for sure next Spring.

We came in the house and watched some more episodes of Quantum Leap, then made our suppers - he heated up the leftover spaghetti, and I made myself a ham, egg, and cheese sandwich - and watched more QL until time for the football game.

I put my food in MFP, and I was over on my calorie count - by 300.  But, you know what? - I don't care, not today.  If I can't use my birthday as an excuse to "overeat"....
Ron, of course, watched the game through his eyelids, but I QUITE enjoyed the game - the KC Chiefs beat the pants off of the NE Patriots!  WhooHoo - couldn't happen to nicer people!

Both the Steelers AND the Patriots losing???   Definitely Happy Birthday to me!
