I woke up this morning just after 10, and read, as I usually do, before getting up. I spent the morning doing the dishes in my stockpots, since I couldn't do them in the sink, and I managed to do them all except the pans too big to fit. The water was too cold by then, anyway, so I'll have to figure something out about them. I also did a load of towels, so I guess this was a Happy Homemaker day for me.
The DirecTV guy was supposed to show up between 12 and 4, but (of course) I didn't know when, so I just have to keep myself busy all day. Ha! I do have my pute, you know, so that's not a problem.
I get to say some famous words today, too. "I forgot to eat lunch today!" And I did - I truly forgot. I just wasn't hungry (could have been the sugar low I had at 5am and the jelly beans I ate then, but I only ate 5 or 6, I swear!), or it could have been that my mind was occupied with worrying about when that darn DirecTV guy was gonna get here! I want my DirecTV fixed for my football!
I finally got a phone call that he would be here between 3:50 and 4:20, would that be okay? Well, what are you gonna say? Of course it's okay, I'm home anyway.
Finally, the guy called - he's stuck in traffic up in Bethel, and will be there as soon as he gets through it. Yay! He puts up the new HD dish (a bigger dish) - that I didn't know we were going to get, I thought we were just getting a new HD receiver, sets up the new HD receiver, gives us a second remote, and voila! We're set!
Before he even leaves, the satellite is cutting out because a storm is brewing. Great. There's nothing he can do, but if this keeps up, I won't be happy, because he didn't lose our satellite before until the storm was upon us and was pretty vicious. If it's gonna go out just when one is brewing, that may be a problem. Here's hoping it's just just-starting-out-and-getting-used-to-things stuff!
As he was finishing things up, Ron came home, too, and was telling me that, hopefully, Harry was going to be able to come up, with Eric (his son), to look at the pipes under the house, but that Eric was busy helping another friend first. They never did make it tonight, so I guess our leak will keep on leaking for at least one more day.
Does anyone know somebody who works on pipes, or knows any kind of plumbing, who would work relatively cheap (or inexpensively), because we sure don't have much extra, and is available rather quickly?
Ron carries the stockpots of grody water out to the ditchline to empty them. He wouldn't dump them in the tub, just in case there was grease, and there probably was, so I guess he was right. Good thing I couldn't carry them, or I would have dumped them down the tub as soon as I was finished with the dishes! Maybe I keep him around for a reason (or two)!
Since I hadn't eaten lunch, I was starting to get hungry, and you know he was hungry, so we made cheese weenies, macaroni & cheese, and pinto beans for our supper. Nothing like ending this day cheesy!
I did go lay on the bed to eat my supper, even though I've been trying to stay up. My back hasn't been liking the staying-up-all-day thing, so one little bit of laying-down isn't going to be such a set-back. I was only laying down for half hour, forty five minutes, then I was right back up again, and stayed up for the rest of the night.
Tomorrow is supposed to be a Bert and Teresa Day. Here's hoping no 'Change of Plans' this time!
