Nothing like good food, good friends, good times!

Today started with me getting up and making goodies to take with us tonight to the ChiliFest we are going to.  This is at a friend's, where we are invited every year, to co-ordinate with Bethel's Homecoming Parade and football game, but most years we can't go because it is my birthday weekend and we have other plans.  This year, Homecoming is way early, and we can go!  Yay!
I make Oreo Balls (I know I've told you about them before!) and I also made something new - Oreo/peanut butter brownies!  The recipe only made 12, and I saved 4 here at home for us, so I only took 8 with me to share.  They aren't as easy to make as the recipe sounded, but they weren't terribly complicated, either.  <Put cupcake liners into a cupcake (or muffin) pan.  Generously spread peanut butter on a Double-Stuff Oreo and place in the liner, then a second peanut butter-smeared Oreo on top of that one.  Fill all liners with cookies.  (Now the fun (sarcastic) part!)  Make brownie mix, and put brownie mix all around, and over, the Oreos, filling the liners.  NOT easy - the Oreos don't leave you much room.  Bake at 350F for 20 minutes.>
Everyone who had one said they were very good!  I had half of one, and I thought it was okay, too (remember - I don't like Oreos very much), and I will probably make them again at some point.

Josh and Chelle brought Corgan up and dropped him off, and when it was time, he and I packed up our goodies, went uptown and bought ourselves and Grandpa drinks, and got to the church and parked the car, then walked to where we were going.  I did much better than I thought I would - MUCH better! - I am glad for that!  I was a bit worried about the short walk, but I had no problem at all, and I stood out front to watch the parade, then went to the back yard to sit for the rest of the evening.  The chili, of which they had three pots - their normal, Wendy's-style, and Tex-Mex - was in crockpots on tables on their back deck, as well as hot dogs (for coneys), cheese, onions, and all accompaniments you could think of!  Other people, like me, brought desserts or bags of munchies, and there was a lot of food available and it was all very good!
Just sitting at the table, visiting with friends all night long, was great fun, too!  My friend Rosie did show up, with her granddaughters, and I'm so glad she did.  I had brought my yearbook, because she didn't remember people from our class (we had lunch last week, remember) and I thought that would help her a little - and it did!  Her granddaughters loved looking at the pictures and "our funny clothes," too!  We all got to laugh at some of the pictures, and, of course, they provoked memories...

We came home somewhere between 9:30 and 10, and Ron and Corgan are both asleep already.  They are such male creatures!
Final weigh-in for my Biggest Loser contest tomorrow - fingers crossed!
