Today, I woke up to the alarm going off at 8:45. Ugh! Not a happy feeling, but necessary if I am to leave here by quarter after 9. I drag my lazy ass out of bed, get a shower, lotion up, and dress, and get on the road by 10 after 9, which was very good timing for me. I meet up with Bryan over at the DMV, and I am astounded by how dead it is over there - I expected that it would be so busy, seeing that it is the last weekend of the month, but we didn't see any more than 10 people there the whole time we were there. I was shocked, let me tell you! I guess a lot of people are using either the mail-in service or the internet to buy their tags now. I had to get a new license this year - and I got to change my weight on it, too! Hip, hip, hooray! That felt so good!
I figured it would take at least an hour, hour and a half over there, but we were in and out of there in twenty minutes, so now I have a lot of time to kill before going on to the next item on my list (lunch! Longhorn doesn't open til 11) so I call my friend Teresa to make sure she is up for a visit. Today is HER birthday, and she wasn't up for coming out anywhere (Bert and I had already asked her that), but she was okay with me stopping in for a little bit. She is feeling okay, just nursing a bad headache, as usual (and I know how that is!), and we spend an enjoyable hour gabbing away.
I go on to my lunch at Longhorn, and have the almost-perfect salad, except I forgot to tell them 'no raspberry vinaigrette, ranch on the side' and suffered through my salad drowning in the bottom of the bowl. It was my fault I forgot that part, so I thought it would be a shame to waste the salad, which I'm sure is what would have happened, so I made myself eat it like that. It doesn't taste bad, just the bottom is drowned with the dressing, and I don't particularly like that. But....
After my lunch, it's on to my first visit to Physical Therapy. I find out that a couple of the exercises I've been doing aren't doing my back any good because I am 'rotating my pelvis' which is a little weird, but (what do I know?) that's why I've come to PT, right? She gave me 6 new exercises to start doing, and she also wants me to start walking every day. Every. Day. At least 5 minutes, twice a day. 5 minutes? I told her that when I walk, I walk at least one mile. So she says - walk for 5 minutes. What? That's a bit confusing to me - there's a big difference between a mile and 5 minutes. We (both me and the Physical Therapist) agreed that walking is most probably the best exercise for my back, and it's best if I can walk - the more, the better. Then she said that 5 minute crap. My head is still spinning from that.
On my way home from PT, I stop and get gasoline in my car, and I stop and do my grocery shopping. A WalMart Walk! Of course, as every knows when they go shopping, I spend way too much money, but the pantry is fully stocked now and that makes me feel good. I also stopped at IGA here in Bethel and got a few things that I just can't get at WalMart, so we are good to go. My back is not happy with me by now, not after PT, WalMart, and IGA, but when I get home, I have to carry the groceries in by myself because no one else was home yet. I did leave the heavy stuff out in the car for the fellers to carry in when they got here, and just carried in grocery bags (mostly with refrigerator and freezer stuff in them) with things to be put away right away, which I did, too. I got supper started, too. I was going to make it in the crockpot all day, but I forgot this morning, so I zapped the chicken in the microwave, then got everything in the crockpot. Then, finally, I could go lie down and rest my back.
Corgan had his friend Justin come spend the night with him this week, and I think they had a good time. I got supper all together to cook for the last little bit, and they talked us into having a fire tonight. I ended up zapping supper to finish it up faster - we were all hungry - and then we ate our supper (it was chicken and dumplings, btw) while sitting out by the fire. It was pretty darn good, if I do say so myself. It was a new recipe, and - if I had cooked it correctly in the crockpot - it may have been done on time. I have only myself to blame for that. It was super easy, and I will be making it again!

When I got up today, around 11:30, I remembered to do my weigh-in! Yay! I really hate when I forget, but today the fellers were here and outside, and it was a 'normal' Saturday, so I knew it was Saturday, and I remembered to weigh myself on the Wii as soon as I got up. Unfortunately. Yeah, I gained. Only .2 of a pound, but still a gain. Phooey!
Ron and Bryan were finishing up the job under the house - putting up the last of the insulation and all that - and when they were done, Bryan went home and we pried the boys off of the lawnmowers (they had been driving them all over the yard) and we all went uptown to walk the Walk Path. The boys rode the bikes, and Ron and I walked it. When we finished, we went into IGA to pick up a couple things to round out supper (it's different cooking for 7 people as opposed to just me & Ron) and then came back home.
I made a pan of Oreo Brownies for us to have tonight. I just made them in a cake pan (a round cake pan), like a cake brownie, instead of like cupcakes as I did before. They came out pretty darn good! I made spaghetti for supper, and garlic bread with it, and there was plenty left over - I was a little surprised at how much was left. I guess we'll have spaghetti one night this week.
We lit a fire, and had the brownies while sitting by the fire, as well as our usual pillow marshmallows. It was a beautiful night for it - a little chilly. Not jacket cool, just chilly enough that the fire felt really good.
After they left for home, I came in and got on the pute. I put my lunch in MFP, but didn't feel like trying to figure out how to put the spaghetti in, so just left it hanging. Bad, I know. Yes, lazy. But - that's how it is today. Too bad.
No Bengals this week - BYE week, but still looking forward to football tomorrow.
