Thanksgiving Eve
I "slept in" this morning - my first normal day since my vacation and all this crazy running around to doctoring. I woke up before 10. Blah. Even though I knew Ron was out here in the living room watching TV, I just laid in bed, reading and playing on my tablet until going-on-noon, as I usually do. Mainly because I knew, once I got up, the shit was gonna hit the fan, and I was right. Not 5 minutes after I was up, he was running the sweeper and I was doing dishes. Talk about jumping into Happy Homemaker mode! I usually stay out of his way when he gets bit by the cleaning bug, but today - I can't. So, I just stay in the kitchen, doing various things (including making the pasta salad for tomorrow) and let him cut loose in the living room. He vacuums and dusts and so on and so forth, and keeps going and going and going. He nags me to come in and clean around my recliner, saying that he doesn't want to mess with my stuff, and would rather I did it myself. Finally, I had no more excuses and I had to go do it.
After that, I went back into the kitchen and chopped veggies for our snack table tomorrow. Veggies, veggies, and more good veggies. He came out and offered to help me, but I sent him back in the living room. He finally got it done to his satisfaction, and decided to stop for the night. Thank God!
He made us some supper - he zapped me some chicken noodle soup, and he found himself something in the fridge. I finished up the veggies I was doing, and cleaned up the table. After eating, I got my Blue Willow china down out of the china cabinet and washed, ready to set the table in the morning.
My back is NOT thanking me for any of this today - not after the first couple of hours - and I am ready to call it a night.
I think we have the house as good as it's gonna get, and I've got as much prep done as I can do today. We are as ready as we can be. Tomorrow will start at 8am - getting the turkey into the oven, so we can go to church at 9.
A very Happy Thanksgiving is wished to you all.
