Hot Date Night with Ron

Friday  2/21

I got up early this morning and was on the road just after 10.  I was taking my sister to return cable equipment and settle some business matters, and we wanted to get it done sooner rather than later, so we can enjoy the rest of our time (LUNCH!) together.  As I drove up to her house, I was amazed at how strong the wind was - it was blowing my car every which way!  I had to keep a very firm grip on the steering wheel to keep the car straight in my lane.  It was weird, to say the least.

We finally got her business done, and stopped for lunch at the little Mexican restaurant in Mt. Orab.  For some reason, this restaurant had been in my mind ever since we had talked about our excursion, instead of my usual choice of chicken and dumplings (you know me!) that is my go-to.  Could be because Ron and I had just gone to Crackhead Barrel the day, I just don't know.  I suppose I should have asked Ruth her opinion, instead of blithely choosing, but I didn't.  After we were seated in the restaurant and perusing the menu, I noticed the troubles she was having choosing and then I realized that she didn't like Mexican!  Oops - sorry, Ruthie!  She did finally find something, and I had my chimichangas.  I had them put the sides in a to-go container, as usual, and an extra chimi on my plate.  She did say she enjoyed being there - the decor, the atmosphere, all that, so I guess that is something.  I sure learned a lesson, though.

After we got back to her house, I hung out with her and Tracy, her daughter, and chatted for a bit, then I finally headed for home.  Ron was going to work late - "one last run" don't you know - so he wouldn't have to work on Saturday, although we had figured he would have to work on Saturday, because of not working on Monday or Tuesday, and we were okay with that.  But, now he doesn't have to, and that is great, because we have this great date night planned (Couple's Night up at church) and it would be best if he is rested and not falling asleep.
I took my time going home, stopping at the store as planned - remember, I needed more white chocolate chips - and just enjoying my day out.

When I got home, I got right into getting my baking done.  If I do say so myself, my cookies came out wonderful!  They - both the strawberry the other day, and now the cherry - are the prettiest pastel pink color, and I did NOT burn any (and the ones just a bit too done were quality-controlled out), with the white chips giving them a very nice look.  I am very satisfied with them.  The mints look good - the colors came out brilliantly, and the pretzel nibbles I decided to make as an extra were looking good, too.  I was very satisfied with my efforts.  And, if you cook/bake, you know that isn't always the case.

After Ron got home, we just hung around watching dead guys on TV, and we made fried potatoes with smoked sausage and a small salad for our supper.  Neither one of us can seem to wait for warmer weather so we can get back to having salads for supper again!  With this cold weather, though, and him working outside all day, he needs warm food at home at night.  We used up the last of the potatoes tonight, and man, was it good.  I am not looking forward to weigh-in in the morning, though.

I skipped both MFP and writing my blog and went to bed with Ron at 11:30.

Saturday 2/22

I woke up this morning about 9:30, and, of course, Ron was already up (he told me later that he had 'slept in' until 7).  I got up, did my weigh-in, which wasn't as bad as I had feared it would be.  I even lost a little tiny bit!  Then I got on the pute and got my games caught up.  A little after noon, we took off down the road to pick up prescriptions and to get the grocery shopping done.
Gasoline here in town had jumped up again, to $3.59, and I am so glad, so very, very glad, that we don't have to get it here in town, because when we got down to Amelia, it was still down, and had gone down again, and was at $3.26!!  Bethel just makes no sense - I just don't understand why people still get gasoline here.  I do know a few have to - they have no reason to go down the road - but, damn.  I guess Bethel leaves it up because people DO buy it.  It just makes me so mad!

Other errands done, we went to Bob Evans for our lunch before the shopping, and we both decided on breakfast for a change.  Are we weird or what?  Don't answer that!
Then, I got my WalMart Walk in while Ron looked for new gym shoes.  Lucky man!  We finished up and got out of there, lighter in pocket as happens.  But, it was needed, so no harm done.

We came home and watched dead guys until time to get ready for our big date night out.  We've been looking forward to this, and it's finally here!  Couple's Night up at church.  Our version of Valentine's Day, if you will.  It's gonna be fun.  It's Italian Night as well, so the food should be very good, too, as well as not good for either one of us.  We will just have to rein ourselves in.

We did have a lot of fun - we had appetizers, the main meal, and desserts.  Then we had a guest speaker - her topic was "Marriage is Messy" though her talk was more on cleaning up the messiness of marriage, together, than of how or when or anything like that, that marriages get messy.  But with each marriage being different, as well as each person in the marriage being different, even though you are supposed to be in a marriage together, that could definitely be a difficult subject.  Her talk was very interesting, and gave different perspectives on different subjects.  After her talk, there was a Family Feud game with four of the couples.  It was the Elders vs. the Youngers, and the Elders won!  It was a lot of fun - to WATCH!!

We came home, with leftovers for supper either tomorrow night or Monday night, and have been watching more dead guys ever since.  We like our dead guys!

I have caught up my MFP (yep, I was over today) and now have caught up on my blog.
I hope I didn't bore y'all too very much!
