Today started with my alarm going off, and me getting up, getting a shower and all that, then taking the time to dry by hanging here at home - playing on the pute, of course - then leaving to go pick up my sister and take her to the grocery store. Now, normally is not such a big deal, but remember - we just had a tremendous ice storm a couple of days ago and the roads and all are not the best just yet. As a matter of fact, they - except for the main roads - are quite a pain in the ass!
It took me OVER half an hour to clean the car off so I could leave. I didn't even realize it, either. The driver's side was clear, and that was all I saw from looking out the front door. When I went out to start the car, I just jumped in and started it, then ran back in the house. When I went to leave, I had to take the rubber piece off that Ron had so kindly put over the windshield for me - and that was when I discovered the rest of the car was still encased in ice. Yeah. Not fun at all. But, I finally got it done and got going after doing the rocking thing to get out of my parking spot - and then I had to go the long way, because I couldn't even see where Hoover came out onto 133! Evidently it's not been plowed, scraped, salted, or anything. I. couldn't. even. see. the. end. of. the. road. Terrible!
I took my camera with me, just in case I saw anything that could be an "interesting" picture - and I saw plenty - but could not stop and take any pictures, so those scenes will have to live forever in my mind. I wanted so bad to stop but just couldn't, not by myself. Phooey! When I got to my sister's, I was so surprised by the mess in her yard. I knew a branch had fallen on her house, but shee-it! It was bad. I couldn't even pull into her driveway, either - it was pretty solid ice. She came out, and off we went.
We went to West Union. We went to Save-A-Lot, WalMart, and then stopped at Dollar General when we got back to Seaman, too. Yep, I got a WalMart Walk in today. And then some. Just ask my hips.
After shopping, I just stopped in the road, turned my flashers on, and we unloaded my car, and lugged her groceries up her driveway, both carrying bags and in her little cart (we call it a 'Mamma cart' because it's just like the cart our grandmother used). She fell twice while doing this - breaking through the ice right beside her driveway. Luckily, she did not get hurt. I guess she fell just right. It sure was scary to see, though! I felt bad because I couldn't help her get back up, either. I told her to catch her breath before getting back up, but she didn't want to sit in the snow & ice, and that made a lot of sense, too. She got back up and we - her daughter Tracy helping, too - got all the groceries in her house and I went back out to the car. I got my camera and took pictures of Ruth's house and yard, just because it was so much worse than I had expected.
I also managed to take some pictures on the way home, too. Some came out and some didn't, but you can expect that when you take pictures going down the road. Some places - like the waterfall outside of Georgetown - I did stop, turn on the flashers, and get out and take pictures.
Oh - as I was on the way to pick Ruth up, I got a call from one of our uncles. Another of his siblings - our Aunt Dee - has passed away. She is the third of the twelve siblings to go on to their reward. The second to have passed away from cancer (one was from heart problems). So, as well as driving and enjoying the scenery, I was calling my siblings, because I thought that kind of news should come from a sibling - and should come from a voice. I also had to do it before I got to Ruth's, because I still had to tell her, too, and I had to figure out HOW to do that task. And, of course, I ran out of time. But, I managed it. I did the last of the phone calls while walking through the grocery stores and she wasn't beside me. A bit sneaky, yes, but necessary in this case. I did tell Ruth on the way back home from shopping, when I thought her mind was clear enough to accept this news.
Finally, I got back home. I was very glad to get back home. It was a long day, with a lot more physical exertion than I am used to - and no lunch, although I did have a Little Debbie Football Brownie after I bought them at Save-A-Lot. Better than nothing, I figured.
Luckily, my Ron had supper done! He had made crab cakes for us, and was making his cabbage steaks as I came in. I just ate the crab cakes with a serving of pretzels for my supper.
Then I ate popcorn and milk.
Then I ate a nut bar.
When I put my food into MFP, I was about 900 short for the day - so I put in the popcorn & milk. That brought it down to just under 800. So, I put in the nut bar, and that put it down to just over 600 short for the day, but I can't eat anything else. I just can't. I only claimed a WalMart Walk (155 calories burned) for my exercise today, too - usually that particular exercise only gets around 100 calories burned. Ah, well. It is what it is.
I'm tired.
I'm going to bed - after I check on all my games again.
