Running up and down 125 day. Wonderful. My favorite road. NOT

Thursday, February 27, 2014

I woke up today around 10:30, read a little bit, then got up, got dressed right away.  I don't usually do that, I usually hang out in my housedresses, or muumuus, or whatever you want to call them, for a little while.  But, today, I had to run to both Georgetown and Amelia - at least 10 miles in both direction from my house, so I had to get moving, or I'd never get done.

I did piddle around a little bit, checking banking on the pute and little things like that before I left, but nothing much, so I was on the road by noon.  I decided to go to Georgetown first, just because I was going to buy meat there, as well as other groceries, and I could stop back at home and get it in the fridge and freezer before going the other way.  That decision made, I went to Country Inn for my breakfast before shopping.  I thought about getting that big fish sandwich they have, but in the end, I went with the big breakfast, mostly because I didn't want fries, and sandwiches just don't taste right without fries.  (I know, I'm weird.  But, I don't like their chili, and that's what I have if I don't have fries.)
After my breakfast, I went shopping.  I went to Shopko first.  That's the store that used to be Pamida.  Well, Shopko itself is now closing, and everything - EVERYTHING - is marked down 10% to 30%, so I thought I'd see what I could see.  Yep, I found stuff.  Household stuff as well as stuff for the Easter Bunny.  Hey, just like Santa, the Easter Bunny can't start too early!  When I finally got out of Shopko, I went to SaveALot, which was my original destination, for my groceries.  I got meat from the 5-for-$20 stuff (which was why I went there in the first place - they have a much better selection!), I got Ron some cabbage & mushroom and me some turnips, then as I'm getting ready to go, I make a last-minute splurge and get some butter pecan ice cream.  I've been craving this for some time and fighting it hard, but finally succumbed.

I got these groceries and stuff home, unloaded and put away, and took off the other way down 125.  Fun, fun.  Can you say:  grit your teeth, girl.

I got down to Walgreen's. I had planned on just driving through, but when I got there, I had to go in to get my prescription - I had to make a pit stop - and I'm so glad I did!  I found one of those "as seen on TV" microwave potato cookers!  I've been looking for one ever since I first saw an ad for them.  I don't get to make us baked potatoes here at home, because I never know what time Ron will get home from work.  It's hard to make a good supper in just a few minutes, but I feel Ron deserves a good hot supper after working all day.  It helps that he likes to chill a bit when getting home, but, still...
Besides, have you ever tried to clean a microwave after a potato explodes in it?  Yuck.  That crap gets into every nook and cranny imaginable.

I was so glad to get back home and get back into my comfy clothes for the rest of the day!  While I like to drive, I hate hate hate hate hate driving 125 between Bethel and Amelia.  Hate it with a purple passion.  And then to drive it at that time of day.  School buses!  Stupid idiots who don't know school bus laws!  Ugh!

Ron had some boiled cabbage in the fridge - someone had given him this, I didn't make it - and I reheated it for his supper.  When I started to smell it, I told him it was done and get that stinky stuff off the stove!  He tried to tell me to let it cook a few more minutes, but I didn't fall for it.  Damn, that crap stinks!  I'm so glad those other dishes I've been making for him don't stink like that.  I made a salad for myself for my supper, because, by God, I'm having dessert tonight!  And I did!  I even put Special Dark Chocolate Syrup on my Butter Pecan Ice Cream, and ooooooohhh.   I'm in heaven!

When I put my food (and exercise - a WalMart Walk - I did walk through 2 stores today) into MFP, I was 225 calories short for the day, so I was very happy with the results of the day.  I was worried the ice cream and syrup would really push it over, but it didn't.  Even without the exercise, I'd'a been under.  I am feeling very good with my food choices today.

And, after all, tomorrow is another day.  And that damn exercise bike is waiting.
