I got up this morning, as I have been, around 10. I laid in bed and read for a bit before getting up. I will be seeing my sister tomorrow, and I wanted to 'grow' the pile by one more! When I got up, I just piddled around a bit, then got on the pute to catch my games up and all before getting into doing my duties in the kitchen, because once I got in there, I wasn't stopping for a while.
I had my lunch (chicken salad and walnuts) not long after 12, then after that, I got into the kitchen, got the few dishes sitting there done up, and then I got started on the baking and making for this evening's and this weekend's goodies. I needed to make: 2 different batches of pink (for Valentine's Day) with white chocolate chip (1 strawberry, 1 cherry) cookies, some dessert mints, and a cherry pie. I ran out of white chocolate chips - I thought I had some here, but didn't, so I didn't have enough for both recipes. I will have to finish those tomorrow when I return from my running. I did get the dough done up, and it's sitting there waiting for the chips, so it won't take me long.
The last thing I made was the cherry pie for our dessert tonight. We were going to friends' tonight for dinner, and we were bringing that, along with whipped cream, for the dessert. I had just gotten the recipe from Facebook last week, and made it for us last Saturday, but Chelle's oven cooked hot and I burned the bottom. Cooking this one at home, I knew when to turn the oven off and I took it with us still warm, and when we got there, we put it in the oven to stay warm as we were eating and talking. It came out wonderful!! Next time, I will add a bit (maybe even double) more fruit filling, though. Both Ron and I thought it was way more dough than fruit.
She had made a pork tenderloin, real mashed potatoes, gravy (from the 'drippings'!), green beans, and carrots (yes, I avoided those). It was all so very good! We had a great time, just the four of us, talking and crying and laughing and talking some more, and eating and everything. I really needed a night like this.
We all enjoyed the cherry pie, and sat around and talked more, then Ron and I finally came home, in a pouring-down-the-rain thunderstorm a little after 9.
Thunderstorm! In February! Ron was a little nervous. He said it was only a couple of weeks away from the last time we drove in rain like this, and it was daytime then. Translation: The tornado we drove through was on March 1st, two years ago. I told him not to worry, that "it" - meaning the weather - felt totally different. I did, however, drive very slow. I really doubt very much if I ever got above 40mph all the way home! And if you know me, you know that is very, very strange.
Once home, he promptly fell asleep in the recliner, and I got on the pute. The TV didn't even come on, how about that? I also had the end of my V-Day Special Dark bar as a snack while playing my games on the pute. Only took me a week. Blah.
When I put my food into MFP, I was over on calories for the day, but by less than a hundred. 85, I think, or thereabout. If I had gotten off my lazy ass earlier and actually done some exercise, I could have recovered that! But, no, it's a big red number. Phooey. I'm pretty sure Saturday's weigh-in is gonna be a bust, too. I'm not doing so good this time.
I'm hoping we don't lose power overnight, because the wind sure is rocking and rolling out there, but if it does, it does. I will set the alarm on my phone so I can go do my running in the morning. My sister is counting on me! I can do this! I can be useful! I can help someone!
