Today started with me getting the green beans sorted into the batches - 2 to be blanched, and 1 into the crockpot for supper tonight. I put on the ones to be blanched, went and jumped in the shower, and when I got out, put them in the cold water, and then into the baggies. I think it went pretty well - but, then again, this is the first time I've ever done it! I guess I'll find out when I go to cook them.
Then, after talking to my friend Bert, I left to go pick her up. I thought she would choose to just go to Bethel, but she surprised me by wanting to go to Bob Evans, and you know that was okay with me! So, instead of just meeting her uptown, I picked her up and down the road we went. We went to Bob Evans for our lunch first. She had the broasted chicken, and I had my chicken salad plate - which is already off the menu, by the way, although they do still have some available. Man, what is up with these restaurants? Getting rid of their summer things before Labor Day...it's just not right! I'm glad they still had it, though - I do like that stuff!
When we were done eating (and talking!), we went to WalMart to pick up a few things. I only needed potatoes (for the beans), but Bert needed some things, so I tagged along with her while she picked up the things she was looking for. We walked all over the store, except back to the cold food! Yay! A WalMart Walk!
Then we drove down to Kroger so she could pick up some prescriptions, but we just used the drive-thru for this. We didn't have to go in, which was good, because my back was starting to hurt by then. Then we headed for home - me dropping her off, even helping her carry her stuff in, and I came on home, where I peeled and chopped two potatoes and added them to the beans, along with some ham and onions. This is gonna be good when I get home from my TOPS meeting!
I laid down until time to leave for my meeting. I had to, my back was not a happy camper by now! Then off to my meeting, where (I'm blaming the lunch) I gained 2.8 pounds! Yikes! Good thing I don't have that good of a lunch every day! I guess the WalMart Walk wasn't enough exercise afterward....Ai Yi Yi!
I come home from the meeting, and Ron and I chow down on our beans. I thought they could have cooked a bit longer, but Ron said they were fine. They had cooked for 9 or 9-1/2 hours, so I don't see how they could have cooked much more than that, but geez! They were still very tasty, and oh, such a good supper!
When I put my food in MFP, I was over on my calorie count (for a change). Only by ...crap, I forget the exact number, but less than 200. 166, I think. So, I can certainly live with that. Lunch was very caloric because it was mostly fruit, and the chicken salad has mayo in it, and supper was a super giant bowl of homemade green beans with ham, onions, and potatoes (I figured 2 cups' worth), so I can definitely live with that calorie count!
Tomorrow should settle down to a normal day. I can handle that.
