Today started early for me - around 9. I don't know why I woke up then, but I did, and since I couldn't go back to sleep, I started reading.
Luckily, my disability lawyer called early - they were supposed to call at noon - and I got to talk to them (her) and tell her all about my fall, broken back, the new doctor(s), and all that, and get my appeal moving. I am SO glad that the phone didn't goof up today. It still irks me that the phone messed up that day, of all days, but there's nothing I can do about that. I got it done today, and earlier than planned, and that's a very good thing!
After the phone call, I waited to hear from Josh to see if they were going to come up and go shopping with me or not. He finally texted about quarter til noon, and they aren't coming, so I get to go shopping by myself. That's okay, because they can't keep up with me, anyway - well, they can in ONE store, but I go many places, and they go crazy when I do that! I take my shower (and even shave my legs!), get dressed, and head on down the road. I stop at the bank here in Bethel, then at Walgreen's in Amelia, where I go in because I need more Mucinex DM. On the way down 125, I saw 3 state boys, each time already having someone pulled over - boy, you can tell it's a holiday weekend! After that, I drove on down to the Walgreen's in Withamsville, where I picked up a Christmas gift I had ordered - I don't know why they wouldn't send it to Amelia, but they wouldn't - and I was so pleased with it! Coming back up 125, I stopped at Lee's Famous Recipe for my lunch. I just decided on something different today. I figured my WalMart Walk (and walking in and out of 4 different stores) would help cancel out the calories. Man, oh, man, were those potato wedges good!!
After my lunch, I went on to WalMart, where I got gasoline at the gas station first, then went to WalMart proper and did my grocery shopping. I made myself walk good, too, not just meander around. I walked forcefully down the aisles I didn't need to go down (and were relatively empty) and I thought I did really well. I spent a little more than I expected to, but that's not a surprise, is it?
I saw another state boy before Verbarg's, but that was the only cop I saw on the way home. But the old you-only-see-them-in-even-numbers thing worked!
I stopped at IGA to get the things I couldn't get at WalMart (milk, ice cream, cheese weenies) and headed for home. I had talked to Ron just as I pulled into IGA, and he wasn't going to be home for another hour and a half - at least - so I knew I would be carrying the groceries in all by myself. Ugh! But, that's okay - more calories burned off!
I got home, got the groceries carried in, and the fridge and freezer stuff put away, and played on the pute until Ron and Corgan got here. Then I went to lie down to rest my back (trust me - it was protesting!) until suppertime. Well, suppertime never came, and I got back up at 8:30 to find out what was going on. Ron was fast asleep and Corgan watching TV. Corgan said that he had eaten something, so wasn't hungry, but Grandpa hadn't and he didn't know if Grandpa was going to make any supper or not. Wonderful.
I asked Corgan if he wanted to learn how to play some card games, and, Spock Child that he is, he has to know, 'what games and how do you play them and why do I want to teach him' and a hundred questions like that. I explained that if he wanted to start playing cards with us (adults), these card games are the ones to start with to teach him the basics of card games, and since there's plenty of time to teach him tonight, why not? So he finally agreed, and I started teaching him how to play both '31' - the game where you get the Ace and 2 face cards to win the hand - and then 'Rum' or 'Rummy' - teaching him about runs and sets, playing play cards, and counting points at the end of each hand. We only played to 200, not 500, and he did just fine. He's got a good brain! I think we'll probably play more tomorrow! We have him both Friday and Saturday nights this weekend, since he doesn't have school on Monday. (btw, I beat him in both games, but he scored 110 points in Rummy)
When I put my food and exercise in MFP, I was short for the day! Less than 50, but short, by golly! I'll take it! I'm glad I put my exercise in first, so I can't claim that I do that on purpose....HA.
Lots of little stuff going on tomorrow - I've got to run uptown 3 different times!
