Today started off with me in a nice, warm, cozy nest and not wanting to get out of it. So, I didn't. I laid there and read, for about 2 hours. I had woken up around quarter til nine, but didn't get up until very close to eleven. Then, I got all the clothes that was in baskets there in the bedroom all hung up and put away. So, my Happy Homemaker stint for the day is over! Yay! All dishes and laundry are caught up - for now.
I settle down to get my games and everything (like this blog) caught up on the pute, cause with the electricity going off last night, I went to bed quite early, if you remember. I still can't quite believe that I actually went to sleep like I did. I amaze myself sometimes, and this was one of the times!
Finally, around one, I went to find myself some lunch, and I wanted something hot and carb-y. I had no idea what, and scrounged through the cabinet. I finally settled on toast and gravy - a poor biscuit & gravy, true - but definitely hot and carb-y. Since Ron won't eat those cans of gravy, they've been just sitting there in the cabinet and I decided 'why not? that will be good and hot! what will go with it? oh, there's what is left of the loaf of bread...' So, toast and gravy it was. And, man, was it gooooooood!!
I spent the afternoon just playing on the pute, although I did stop at five to do some training on the Wii before taking a shower so that I could go to my TOPS meeting tonight. We haven't had a real meeting for four weeks now (Christmas party, then the two holiday weeks), and I'm looking forward to it. I'm kinda surprised that they didn't cancel since it's so cold, but they didn't. I'm also looking forward to just going somewhere! Usually it doesn't bother me not to go anywhere, but I like having the choice whether or not I can go somewhere if I want to or not.
I had decided to make mackerel patties for supper tonight, and had texted Ron to pick up crackers on his way home from work, so this could happen. I went to get everything ready when he texted me that he was on his way home, and - lo and behold - there are NO cans of mackerel in the cabinets. NONE. I can't believe it. How did that happen? I really try to keep our cabinets pretty well stocked, and am just stunned by this - I go through them again and again, but nothing ever appears. So, we will not have supper until I get back from uptown now. Eerrrrrrggggghhh.
When Ron gets home, he goes out and starts my car, since it hadn't been started since Sunday morning. Luckily, it did start right up. He turned it right off and came on in the house to warm himself up. He just wanted to make sure it would start - and that the door would open. I love that man! He sat in his recliner and warmed up for a while, waiting to take his shower and all that until after I left.
I went to my TOPS meeting, and I had lost 3 pounds! Yay, me! Not bad, for all the holidays and everything. I ended up being the Loser of the Week, too! I sure missed the camaraderie of these meetings, and it was very nice to get together with all these ladies (well, the ones who showed up on the freezing cold evening, anyway) again. After the meeting, I went to the store and got the mackerel for our supper, and some bananas, which are a good thing for both me and Ron to have.
Back home, I made us a small pan (only 2 potatoes!) of fried potatoes, and the mackerel patties we both have been watering at the mouth for. It was yummy! It was a shame we didn't have our supper until 9pm, but what's a kid posta do?
When I put all my food into MFP, I was at my wonderful number of 300 calories short for the day! Yay! I haven't been there for a while, and it was good to see that number again.
My friend in the hospital is being slowly being weaned off of the ventilator. She was off for 40 minutes today before distress, and they will do it again tomorrow. She definitely had a heart attack, although I still haven't heard a severity, I think it must have been pretty severe. No way it could have just been mild, although luckily she didn't need any kind of surgery. Please keep up your prayers and good wishes & thoughts for her, she sure can use them! She is being kept intubated and sedated at night.
I am truly grateful that it is looking as though our deep freeze is over - we are back above zero now - and the weatherman is even calling for 50 degrees on Saturday! Welcome to Ohio, for sure. Sinus problems, anyone?
