I had to get up early today to get to my job interview down on Kellogg Avenue at 9:30. With two stops to make before getting there, I HAD to leave the house by 8:30, and I made it! Not by much, but I made it. I had a whole list of things to do afterward, too. I was busy last night, writing my list, so I wouldn't forget anything while out and about today.
Anyway, I got to my interview on time, and it ended up not being "my" interview, but a panel interview - have you ever heard of that? A dozen people in the same room, all getting interviewed at the same time. All being asked the same questions, and having to answer those questions in front of each other. It was very strange, to say the least. At the end, they said 'if we call your name, please stay to talk to the hiring manager.' They called out six names, and then told the rest of us that we could re-apply in six months, either for the same position, or for a different one. So, I was one who was chosen to leave. Oh, yay. To me, that is a very clear sign. Not only did I not get THIS job, but I most probably will not get A job, and I should take a different path.
I get back out to the car, take a deep breath, and go on with the rest of my plans for the day. I can't change what just happened, so I must deal with it. I look at my list.
First off - I went to go get me something to eat. I didn't know where, but after the stress of the interview, I knew that I needed to! I was driving up 275 and, when I got to Five Mile, saw the sign for IHOP, and - oh, that sounded so good! I went there for my lunch. I got the Strawberry-Banana French Toast Combo.
Then, I went to go get my winnings from the Biggest Loser contest! Oh, yeah! This will help out soooo much.
When I left there, I stopped at the gas station, and splurged - I bought myself a few instant lottery tickets! I haven't done that for a long time. I bought my friend Teresa a Reese's Easter Egg (first time I've seen them!), because that was next on my list.
To go visit my friend Teresa again - to take her HER stuff that I forgot to take her the other day. and she shared her Egg with me. She tried to give me half, but I broke that in half and gave back to her - I probably should have totally refused, but who can refuse a Reese's Egg? Not me! I also scratched off my lottery tickets, but I didn't win much. Just 1/3 of what I had spent. Ah, well. It was fun while it lasted.
When I left Teresa's, I stopped at Walgreen's to pick up prescriptions, and I picked up a few other things, too. We have a quarter auction coming up at church, and we (as parishioners) are going to donate a 'basket' and I ended up buying some stuff from the Christmas stuff on clearance, and some stuff on sale for Valentine's Day, and came up with a nice little 'basket' from me & Ron, with candles & candies & chocolate for sweeties. I think it's cute! (I may be a little prejudiced.)
After that, it was on to WalMart for a few groceries. Yes, just a few. Ron's veggies, Ron's frozen Chinese things, Ron's fruit cups. My chicken salad, bread. Things like that. I had a list, and I stuck to it!
When I got back to Bethel, I put the money I had left into the bank so it could help however it CAN help. I like feeling that I can help again in some small way.
I got home, got everything carried in (but I forgot to put it away), and did paperwork for my TOPS meeting tonight, until Ron got home around 5-5:15 and asked what were all these bags? Oh, God! What an idiot! I got all the stuff that needed put away, put away and felt dumb (I'm sure you all know what I mean) but got back to work on my paperwork. Ron decided to wait until I got back from my meeting for his supper, and I left for my meeting at 6:30, as usual.
I get there, weigh in, and I've gained almost 5 pounds!! WOW. I can't believe it! FIVE? I know that I haven't really done a lot of exercise, but 5 pounds? C'mon. But, that's what their scale says. Criminy.
That's what goes into my book.
Back home after the meeting, I eat a couple slices of Colby Jack cheese to hold me over while I make Ron's supper (a cabbage dish - another new one), then I look for something for me. I finally make myself a peanut butter sandwich, which I ate with pretzels.
When I put my food into MFP, I was within 100 of my calorie goal for the day (yeah, IHOP was a killer). I was glad that I had gotten a WalMart Walk in! But, it is very clear - I need to get back on track (or, to be specific, back on the damn exercise bike) and get serious again. What a bite of a day. No job, no weight loss, no, No, NO.
I'm going to bed.
