Today was a kinda exciting day for a couple of reasons.
First of all, it was the day of the playoff game for my Bengals! Third year in a row we've made it to the playoffs - can we do it this year? We should, we are the home team, and unbeaten at home this year, and everything is going good for us at this time.
Ron and I get up and go to church, as usual. Luckily, the storm they've been yapping about has not started yet, so it's pretty mild outside. What a relief that is! Because once this storm starts, the temperature will drop and it will get cold, cold, cold. Plus, the storm will start as rain, then turn to sleet, then finally all freeze and then be snow and ice. Wonderful. (yes, that was sarcastic)
We had decided not to go out after church, but to come home and cook breakfast here for a change. We had sausage, potatoes, toast, and eggs, just like a regular breakfast out. I actually got to see and hear some of the pre-game blabbing about my Bengals and our food got done just as the game started. We timed that just right! It was delicious, too, although that goes without saying. I was not happy that my stomach did not settle very well all afternoon, though.
Unfortunately, the team my Bengals fielded today was the indifferent team. The one that thinks they have already won the game and doesn't really try. The first half was a good game, but then the second half was a total bummer. Usually, the third quarter kills us but we rebound in the fourth quarter. NOT TODAY! At the end of the third quarter, we were down by 10 points, and that was how the game would have ended - but we let them score "one more time" and they beat us by 17. Phooey! Season over.
Ah, well, at least we made it to the playoffs once again - which is better than 3/4s of the NFL can claim, including the defending Super Bowl champs, who happen to be in our division and we walloped. But...sigh.
After the game, I got on the pute while watching the second game of the day (I don't have the personal interest in that game) and found out that I have WON the "losing the most inches" part of my Biggest Loser contest!!! How cool is that? Oh - my 'official' numbers from the contest? I lost 9.7 pounds, not 9.4, and I lost 7.5 inches, not the 6.5 I had figured. I guess I just can't do math!! (which doesn't bother me at all...)
I was so surprised! I did half of what I did last time - I didn't think I had a chance! As I was reading all the totals, I was amazed to find out that I was actually in the top three in all three categories, but of course, I could only win in one of them. What??? Only doing half of what I did last time??? Really??? Okay, I will take it! I still don't believe it, but okay. Doing this "well" through all these holidays is certainly a boost to my self-confidence! I am so stoked for this next go-round now!
A little after nine, I figure that I better eat something or I'll have a sugar low overnight and I don't want that! I go look around, and finally decide on some cheese and pretzels. I get two slices of Colby Jack cheese and two servings of pretzels. So, that was my big 'supper.' I didn't really feel like eating, but I didn't want a sugar low even more. I suppose I could have had just one of each, but I wanted to make sure my supper would sustain me through the night. If you've ever had a sugar low, you'd understand.
I made Ron one of those cabbage dishes that he likes for his supper tonight - the one with the egg noodles, bacon bits, and chopped onions in it. I make it in my dutch oven cast iron skillet, and he really likes it. He does like cabbage, and I like this (and the cabbage steak one) because they don't stink up my house.
When I put all my food into MFP, I was over 150 calories short for the day. I guess sometimes stomachaches are good for something...
I also got word tonight that a friend went to the hospital with possible congestive heart failure. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.
